Introduction

Darren Rungasamy
Editor and Photographer

A V12 grand tourer blending balanced styling, a lavish cabin and performance.

Backed by newfound financial stability, Aston Martin developed the steel-bodied DB7 through a surge of innovation, leveraging technical expertise from Jaguar and Ford. As a clean-sheet design with no ties to the models of the past, this flagship marked a bold new era for the marque. The Jaguar based straight-six engine was developed and built by TWR drawing on their expertise with the European Touring Car racing XJS. The DB7 was introduced to universal acclaim for it’s looks and performance. Autocar said “The last time the UK produced a sporting car of such beauty, Jaguar called it the E Type” It was available either as a coupé or a convertible with automatic or manual transmission. Sales rose quickly and the DB7 became the brand's most successful model to date, propelled by its competitive pricing, Ian Callum’s masterfully balanced styling, and unmistakable Aston Martin character.

The later DB7 Vantage was defined by its all-new, Cosworth developed 6 litre V12 engine, which delivered a formidable 420 hp through either an automatic or the rare, driver focused TREMEC T56 six-speed manual gearbox. The result is a 0 – 60 time of just under 5 seconds and a top speed of 185mph (convertibles and automatic cars are limited to 165mph). While it retained the gracefully proportioned silhouette of the original DB7, the Vantage is distinguished by its revised wing mirrors, larger grille and fog lamps. Renowned for its high-quality finish, mechanical integrity, and consistent reliability, the DB7 Vantage effectively established the blueprint for the modern Aston Martin era.

Smartly presented, this 2000 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage is finished in Silver Metallic over a black leather interior. This particular example features the highly sought-after six-speed manual gearbox, a rare factory configuration shared by only 250 units.

With a recorded mileage reading of just ~37,492 miles, it's clear to see the car has been cherished by its current owner for the last ~12.5 years. Its mechanical pedigree is confirmed by 13 main dealer service stamps and a comprehensive history file including £30,000 worth of invoices dating back to 2005. The vehicle is sold with an MOT valid until October 2026 and includes its original owner’s wallet, a digital workshop manual, and three keys.

This listing was written from information supplied by Darren after meeting John the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

Bought as a present by his wife, John has relished every single moment of owning the DB7

A retired professional engineer, John was attracted to the promise of the glory of the V12 engine languishing under that commanding bonnet. The combination of the styling, gorgeously appointed interior, and performance makes every journey a wonderful experience.

A recently acquired a Jaguar E-Type means that its spot in the garage has been taken over. John is reluctant to leave the car outside and has made the difficult decision to sell.

John will be happy to answer any questions about the car in the comments section below

Exterior

The solid bodywork and glossy paint complement the balanced styling.

Wheels and Tyres

The 18” 10-spoke alloys are cleanly presented with minor marks but free of scuff damage. They were refurbished in 2019.

The front and rear of the car are fitted with Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres, with the front showing a spec of 245/40 and 265/35 to the rear - these are date-coded from 2020. They have plenty of legal tread.

Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old.

image

Bodywork

The exterior presents positively with no signs of damage. There were minor signs of age on the rear wheel arch lips. The panel fit is flush to the body with even shut lines. The offside composite front wing has a couple of small bubbles - likely to be a reaction rather than panel damage. We also noted a small fracture on the front corners of both wings, where they meet the bumper.

All doors open and close with ease (both the boot and bonnet have new gas struts), with functioning glass drop functions on both passenger doors.

The underside, floor pan, engine bay and wheel wells all look solid.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our high-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

image

Paint

The silver metallic paint finish has a pleasing lustre with a decent shine and colour consistency.

As to be expected, there are a few minor road wear marks on the nose, with a handful of surface marks elsewhere and a small touch up on the driver's door corner.

Overall, the car sits well above the expectations for a car of this age.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

image

Glass and Trim

The glass and seals are all in good shape. The lights and lenses display positively. The front headlamp lens have protective covers which protect against chips and UV damage. The trim is well-mounted and in good condition.

The bumpers are flush with the body, the rear bumper is mounted with stainless steel straps. The front bumper has a minor fracture on the left-hand side, and there is mild evidence of a repaint, but it has been finished to a good standard.

image

Interior

Classic English luxury featuring supple leather, walnut veneers, and craftsmanship.

Seats and Carpets

The black leather seats are in good shape, with no significant damage. The leather has been regularly treated with Renapur wax, which maintains it’s suppleness and acts as a protective barrier.

The carpets and mats are in good shape too, with some minor wear in places - all are free of dampness.

image

Dashboard

The dashboard presents well, with only a light surface scuff noted on the passenger side.

All of the controls, switches and dials present well, and all are said to function as they should, including the air conditioning.

The door cards and Alcantara headlining are in smart condition.

The interior trim is generally in good shape but would benefit from a deep clean to bring out the best.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel and gear lever are above the expectations of a car of this age.

image

Mechanics

Poised V12 power with refined grand touring elegance.

Engine and Gearbox

The cold start was effortless, with no dashboard warning lights. The engine quickly settled into a smooth, even idle, producing a clean exhaust note free from unwanted fumes.

The engine presents well, with decent hoses and ancillaries. It has recently been fitted with two new fuel pumps and filters, a new serpentine belt and idler bearings.

The 6-speed manual gearbox operates without any reported faults. John is happy with the clutch's performance.

image

Suspension and Brakes

The DB7 rides smoothly, absorbing the road surfaces with no unwanted thuds or knocks.

The braking is even, with no negative feedback.

The brakes stop the car effectively with no reports of pulling.

image

The Drive

The Aston Martin DB7 is celebrated for its soulful V12 engine and a chassis that translates that raw power into a masterclass of balance and poise. When paired with the sought-after manual transmission, the engine’s broad power band offers a visceral driving experience; yet, it remains remarkably versatile. On the right stretch of road, the DB7 effortlessly sheds its aggression, transforming into a refined, docile grand tourer.

Sitting in the snug cabin, it feels like a racer, mainly due to the transmission tunnel and supportive seats. The chassis feels agile on the move and free of any significant creaks. The engine pulls smoothly, idling at rest with no drama or unwanted noises. John did open the car up for a brief moment, pushing the car up to the legal limit, and the tuneful V12 produced what could only be described as a refined howl, but the main drive demonstrated how even, balanced and controllable the DB7 is.

The car grips exceptionally well, absorbing the road without any issues; the wheels travel free of clonks and vagueness. The steering is direct and free of any play. Drawing on his engineering expertise, John maintains a meticulous focus on the mechanical health of his fleet, possessing an intuitive grasp of how to keep a vehicle in peak condition. This technical rigour is reflected in the car’s upkeep; he notes that while he monitors the oil pressure and engine temperature closely, both have remained consistently stable and trouble-free.

image

Electrics and Other

A DAB and Bluetooth hands-free kit has been installed. The car is fitted with a Tracker Horizon system and Aston Martin immobiliser.

The battery is also fitted with an isolator and the car comes with it’s original battery charger / maintainer.

While we didn't test everything, however, John assured us everything was in working order.

History and Paperwork

It comes with an impressive servicing schedule and £30,000 worth of invoices.

First registered in March 2000, it has had four previous owners and comes with a folder of invoices that date back to 2005, totalling £30,000. The most recent invoices for parts have been for two fuel pumps and filters, new serpentine belts and idler bearings. There are invoices for previous work, including work to the headlining, a £4,300 invoice in 2021 for body cosmetics, new front springs, wheel refurbishment, servicing and sundry items.

It comes with 13 service stamps from Aston Martin main dealer and marque specialists, and retains most of its previous MOT certificates. John has included a CD copy of the workshop manual and a USB stick containing useful information, including an alternative parts list, which will provide the new owner with a cheat list of shared Ford/Mazda/Jaguar components. The car has an MOT to October 2026, an owner's booklet and comes with two sets of keys and a valet key.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment of the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.

Network Connection – your device may lose connection and you’re not able to bid, or see the latest bidding history.
