The XK8 was first launched in 1996 to replace the XJS, designed by Geoff Lawson it was available in either coupe or convertible form, both offering 2+2 seating. The XK8 came standard with 17" alloy wheels, an all-leather interior with burr walnut trim. In 2002 we saw the first mechanical update with the engine enlarged to 4.2L, more power output via an uprated six-speed automatic gearbox.

Yes – to the best of my knowledge, they never made those with a diesel engine.
Have the timing chain tensioners been replaced and the water pump for the later steel versions
Hi Hemmy, Thanks for your message. I’ve looked back through the invoices and I can’t find any record of the jobs your mentioned. However, the previous owner spared no expense on maintenance, so I’m sure that if it was necessary, it was done. As she’s now a few years old, I would be fairly certain that this work would have been done in the past – there are no problems now. Sorry I can’t be more precise.

Hello. Do you know if any of the floors (usual places) have be repaired/welded? Has the gearbox oil and filter been changed?

Hi Bob, Thanks for your questions. As far as I know, the floors have not been welded and are solid. MOT has raised no issues about them. The gearbox was serviced in June, 2013, when the purge valve was replaced and reset and the box was flushed and filled with fresh oil and reset. The box is absolutely smooth.
