The epitome of the high-speed executive express tourer.

It's hard for a petrolhead not to be impressed by the impact of the Jensen Interceptor. With its Italian penned styling, its thumping great V8 power and its splendid name, the original jet-set playboy grand tourer has graced the ages well and still looks sensational today. Impressive and imposing in appearance, this example has seen thousands spent on its presentation and you would be pressed to find a more solid car for sale at the moment.

This particular car has now recently been treated to a complete interior refit as well as complete respray in a modern but subtle colour which goes someway into enhancing the cars elegant styling further. With a stack of paperwork and proven careful ownership profiles, this car has also just been put through a service so it's ready for the new owner to enjoy.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Darren after meeting Brook the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I love these cars, and I'm lucky enough to have owned a number of them over the years.

Brook is well known for his passion for Jensens, as well as other prestigious sports cars and has owned an enviable range of cars over his lifetime. He lays his trust in a network of respected specialists to restore, maintain and repair his cars, so there is no doubt that this Jensen has seen nothing but the best attention.

He has a big passion for classic cars, and as well as seeking out particular cars, often it's the case that people and cars are sent his way in the knowledge that he'll work to give them a new lease of life. This example is one that Brook spotted and wanted to add his own touch to. A complete respray and interior refit, it's now ready for a new owner to take over custodianship. Brook will be happy to answer questions in the comments section below.

Elegantly finished, the Interceptor oozes presence and has been given a touch of modernisation through the exterior styling.

Wheels and Tyres

Kitted out with a set of refurbished elegant larger 17" five-spoke, the car has also received a complement of Goodyear tyres very recently and therefore show excellent tread. The larger wheel size give the car that modern and more sports car feel to it. The wheels look in great condition, just what look like a set of original centre caps showing their age.

The bodywork on the Interceptor is something to behold, particularly the gorgeous large wrap around rear window.

Prior to the owner taking on the car, it has been subject to restorative work when needed over the years, with much of the metalwork being renovated and replaced in 2011. The body is in very good shape, with no issues with surface corrosion or dents. The doors hang well and open and close with just the boot stay needing attention.

The car was originally finished in chocolate brown but has been treated to a subtle and very fetching bronze hue courtesy of the Bentley palette. The colour and finish is another feature of the exterior on this car that gives it a modern feel in the classic styling, and is to a high standard, with no notable blemish or scuffs observed. View the picture gallery and video to see the detail.

Glass and Trim

The glass is in excellent condition, with laminate, rubbers and seals looking intact. The chrome trim is complete and correct for the model, some items show signs of age and could be further improved by a new owner, but overall the presentation is eye-catching for sure.

The sumptuous interior comfort and ambience is almost prefect, a complete refit and finished in a beautiful biscuit colour.

Seats and Carpets

The interior presentation is one of the many positive attributes of the car, logically the owner has gone all out to get the seats up to an exceptional standard. The seats have been completely reconolised, as part of the process of the interior was stripped out and looks like new. The carpets were subject to renewal too. The door cards are excellent, with the headlining in perfect condition too.

The dashboard is in good condition with no suggestions of damage or cracks. The dials, switches and controls are fully functional, with minor wear in places but finishing off the impressive cabin of this well-restored example. It also sports functioning air-conditioning as well as a concession to modernity by including a CD player.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering is a recent item and therefore displays very little in terms of wear. The gearstick is in line with the age of the car, but perfectly presentable.

A massive American V8 upfront, paired with an automatic gearbox sending power to the rear, a great combination for this GT.

Engine and Gearbox

The car has just had a service actioned which included a new set of spark plugs. Watch the video to hear it roar in to action on the first ask, and rev smoothly.

The car has a host of history with it to show how it's been serviced and cared for over the years, the automatic gearbox is said to pull through the gears with no issues.

Suspension and Brakes

The car was subject to an overhaul when the current owner took it on, with a number of trusted Berkshire sourced specialists, the running gear condition and performance are well up to scratch. No binding, squeals or knocks are said to be heard.

The Drive

These cars are all about the power and torque the 7.2L V8 provide, the Interceptor is a comfortable cruising car. The suspension set up is also fairly simple but again deals with modern roads with no drama. The car encourages an 'old skool' type of driving, driving slow into those bends and then powering out.

Electrics and Other

No electrical issues have been reported, again thanks to the diligence of the owner care of duty to the car. The previous owner had kept on top of the maintenance too. Recently the HT leads have been tended as seen in the paperwork section to ensure the car runs smoothly.

History and Paperwork

A UK supplied RHD, this Interceptor has been given a new lease of life with works completed in the last 3 months, it's ready for touring once again.

Brook took on the car earlier this year after it was coming out of 13 years of ownership, the car being a solid example that was wanting a bit of a special touch. He then elected to make a good car even better, and resolved some of the minor MOT issues that were flagged up, but also decided to do a major job and strip down the interior and treat the car to new paintwork. You'll see photographs on the work in progress included in the history section along with photographs of all the paperwork.

We've actioned checks on; Seller ID, V5C, HPi.
