An extremely fun and well-loved limited edition Mini, which offers the original feel of the iconic '60s classic.

In 2000 Rover Mini launched the 'classic' range for the UK home market, 374 of these were the limited 'Seven' variant and this example is #50 of the bunch. The model managed to recreate the original feel of the classic Mini with red and cream leather trim, finished in "Solar Red" with a body-coloured dashboard, door mirrors, and 12" Pepperpot alloys fitted as standard.

The Mini is extremely versatile and practical for day-to-day motoring while being able to deliver in racing with its go-cart-like handling. From launch, the Mini was a huge success, 5.4 million Minis were bought over the 41 years of production, and it still remains the best-selling British car of all time.

This 'Seven' edition was purchased as a 50th birthday gift, and comes to market from 6 years ownership with just 2 former keepers registered. It's been kept stock, and regularly taken to club meets and shows, garaged and clearly cared for given the beautiful condition it presents in today.

This car makes me smile from ear to ear and brings back so many happy memories.

Yvonne has a lifelong love for Mini. Her dad purchased a Mini for her when she first passed her test. When Yvonne celebrated her 50th birthday, she purchased this car in his memory and coincidentally it was the 50th example of the final Rover Seven production line.

She mentions "I absolutely love this car, driving it is a joy, it makes me smile ear to ear and brings back so many happy memories, the decision to sell has been a difficult one, and only made due to the restoration of another childhood memory, a Mini MK3 reaching its final stages, knowing that the Seven will not be driven as much as she deserves the time has come to pass on the fun".

The car has been kept in the original spec, unmodified, and always garage. Yvonne reports only using the car for shows or rallies, and she purchased the car 6 years ago from an enthusiast who had owned her for the previous 13 years. Exterior

A classic modern Mini, these cars are global icons of motoring and culture alike.

Wheels and Tyres

The car is fitted with 12" silver Pepperpot's from factory and wrapped with Linglong LMA9 tyres. These wheels present in great condition on each corner - some very minor marks around the outer edge of the front nearside wheel if we were being really really picky.

The Linglongs are dated 2013, with all tyres appearing in good condition with lots of tread left, due to the limited mileage covered.

Bodywork

The bodywork of this Mini Seven looks in great condition, with all the panel gaps around the car look to align very well.

During our visit we didn't spot any obvious dings down the flanks of the car, everything looking crisp and sharp while standing very straight and true.

Paint

Finished in a classic 'Solar Red', the paint appeared in great condition on our visit, finished to a high standard, with even coverage and colour across each panel.

Glass and Trim

The glass on this example looks great and in line with the low mileage and ownership, we didn't notice any chips, cracks, or discolouration on our visit. The window seals look good too and in line with the rest of the condition of the car.

The chrome bumpers, grille, door, boot handles, and window surrounds all look in great condition too.

Interior

A blend of red and cream leather with pipping, provides timeless good looks.

Seats and Carpets

The Seven is fitted with cream over red leather seats with matching piping. The cream leather bodies of the chair have a retro pattern which looks great and unquie to the "Seven". The seats have held their shape very well over the years as you would expect for the little use and mileage, and careful ownership.

The soft leather continues to the door cards, deep pile carpets with over mats. You can tell this car has been meticulously cared for over its lifetime by a line of enthusiasts.

Dashboard

The dashboard is covered in exterior matching red leather trim and presents three cream gauges in front of the driver.

The dashboard in this Mini has no signs of any major damage or scuffs. With no warning lights displayed, the odometer showed a reading of ~38,058 miles on our visit.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A small Mini steering wheel is fitted and equipped with an SRS airbag with a red leather grip.

The original steering wheel presents in great condition in line with the mileage of this car, the black gearstick looks great too.

Mechanics

With the A+ Series engine, 1275cc multi-point injection this Mini is capable of hitting 90MPH, classic looks that can keep up with modern traffic.

Engine and Gearbox

British Leyland decided to update the A-series design in the 1970s, at a cost of £30 million. The result was the 'A-Plus' series of engines. Available in 998cc and 1275cc form, the A-Plus had stronger engine blocks and cranks, lighter pistons and improved piston rings, spring-loaded tensioner units for the timing chain and other detail changes to increase the service interval of the engine. This car featured the last of the line 1275 MPi version - a special "twin-port injection" version developed by Rover engineer, Mike Theaker.

Yvonne reports the car starts from cold with no issues and drives well with its smooth manual gearbox powering the front wheels. Take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold, driving around, and for a closer look underneath the Seven, and the smart engine bay.

Suspension and Brakes

Yvonne reports the later suspension setup is very smooth for a Mini and reports this Seven has always been mechanically looked after, which is evident from the extensive paperwork.

Yvonne also mentions the brakes and suspension provide an enjoyable journey with the kind of stopping power you'd expect.

The Drive

With the iconic good looks and extremely fun driving experience the Mini makes you feel like youre travelling faster than you actually are, the perky nature really sets the car apart from any other city car.

Electrics and Other

Yvonne reports that to her knowledge all of the electrics are functional and operational, in line with the rest of the condition of the car. She mentioned the front spot lights are not wired in though.

Great looking car.. On past MOT’s there was advisory about engine oil leak.. Was these attended to and engine has no oil leaks??

I have attended to all advisories during my ownership, there is currently no oil leak and the car passed its MOT yesterday with no advisories other than needing new wiperblades

What is the change like from third down to second , say at 15mph? any crash …?

Hi not been in a crash someone damaged the boot lid whilst car stationary this was professionally replaced about 5 years ago. I have not experienced any problems with the gears at all. Yvonne

Hi not aware of any problems with the car gearbox or otherwise driven by both my self & partner, no crash. Car was looked at prior to listing by Mini professional Paul Preston he said all was tip top.

Hi Gerry, someone damaged the boot lid whilst car was stationary this was replaced by a professional classic car restorer. I have showed the car since. I have had the car recently checked by Paul Preston he said the car was tip top and rare to find one in such good condition. Defiantly a girlie car, she might not know what a cassette is though!
