Recent Buyer Review – Eamonn McParland on 11th May “From my first general enquiry through to the purchase of my very own MGA, Adam and the team at Trade Classics were quite simply, awesome.  I fully recommend Trade Classics without hesitation nor reservation to everyone who is seeking a classic car.  A brilliant business model, supported by a really neat and usable website though ultimately managed by a great group of professional, sincere and trustworthy people”. THE CAR & DAVID

Owned by David and his wife since 1990, this Alfa Romeo Spider has been through the full lifecycle with the owners.

David’s wife originally bought the car from a dealer in Richmond, when they were living in London. While there she used it as a daily driver (just what we like to hear), and continued to use it in this way when they moved to Edinburgh.

After this use they left it in a friend’s barn, or as David says, “languishing in a friends barn for five years” (not what we like to here – poor car). But then Daivd and his wife decided to have the car professionally restored, taking the car back to chassis and building it back up again.

In more recent years, the car has been stored in a Carcoon, as David doesn’t spend as much time in Scotland, only coming out for 2 months a year for the last 10 years since the restoration. And so now the time has come for the car to find a new home, as David feels they have really enjoyed it and it deserves a new home now.

EXTERIOR

Classic red finish to this Alfa Romeo Spider, it’s the colour you often expect to see them in.

Wheels & Tyres
14″ tyres and the classic Pepper-Pot wheels on this car. They present in good condition, a good clean and new centre-cap badges would really set them off. Take a look at the images for the detail.

Bodywork
Shut-lines and panel gaps look great on this car. As David talks about in the Meet The Owner video, the car underwent a restoration back to the chassis and built up again, and so no rust observed on our visit. Watch the video detail for the full review.

Paint
Finished in red, we were blessed with some cloud cover on a sunny day to allow us to capture the condition. Even in finish and colour across all the panels, there are a few chips on leading edges of doors etc that you can see in the extensive video review.

Glass and Trim
Glass and trim across the car look good. Things such as the wing mirror chrome etc look lovely, take a look at the video review to see the detail.

INTERIOR

Black leather and carpets, with red piping adorn the cabin of this Alfa.

Seats and Carpets
All of the seats and carpets present in very good condition, as can be seen in the media provided. Take a look for a closer look.

Dashboard
The dashboard along with all the dials look great. Very clear and legible, we didn’t observe any issues with them, take a look at the pictures in the images section.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick
Finished with a wooden steering wheel and black plastic gear lever, the trim looks good as can be seen in the video review provided.

MECHANICS

David took us on some local roads so that we could see and hear the car in action.

Engine and Gearbox
The 2.0L engine fired up and took us along our short trip. We were on some country roads, and David took us through the gears – please watch the video to see the detail.

Suspension and Brakes
On our drive, the car handled as expected, no knocks or rattles that we heard, and the car stopping as it should to too.

The Drive
Some windy country lanes, with the roof down, a real hoot hearing that twin-cam 2.0L engine doing its thing.

Electrics and Other
David informs us that everything is working as it should do.

HISTORY

David and his wife have owned this car since 1990, used regularly, and restored later in their ownership so that it could continue living.

David tells us there are extensive pictures of the restoration, however, these are with the specialist company that performed the restoration and David is trying to track them down – we’ll keep you updated.

The car is showing just over 99,500 miles as of 06.07.2019.

HPi Check Results
– The seller tells us the car is HPi clear and will be supported by our own HPi check.

Mileage Records – MOT
– 03.06.2014 – 95,832 miles
– 02.06.2015 – 96,891 miles
– 19.06.2018 – 98,300 miles
– 10.05.2019 – 98,505 miles

OUR SUMMARY

We love the twin-cam Alfa Romeo engines… this 2.0L version fitted in this lovely series 2 RHD Spider, it makes for a really infectious combination.

Owned by the vendors for nearly 30 years, this car has been used regularly, restored lovingly, and then professionally stored in recent times. This is reflected in its beautiful condition now, even though it’s lived though Scottish weather you can tell it’s been looked after and professionally dry stored.

Hi the red alfa spider is it still up for sale?
Would 15000 buy it before auction? And if so is it possible to be delived to a port for roro shipment (Southampton) live in Cyprus.
