Recent Buyer Review – Eamonn McParland on 11th May “From my first general enquiry through to the purchase of my very own MGA, Adam and the team at Trade Classics were quite simply, awesome.  I fully recommend Trade Classics without hesitation nor reservation to everyone who is seeking a classic car.  A brilliant business model, supported by a really neat and usable website though ultimately managed by a great group of professional, sincere and trustworthy people”. THE CAR & ZAK

Meet Zak, the owner of this little pocket-rocket hot-hatch. He’s owned 205’s in the past when he first learnt how to drive, and those memories drove him to picking up this example…

He’s owned this example for just over 3 years. What first attracted him to it was the colour, condition, and the low owner(3 previous owners) and history file the car came with. Since then, he’s completed under 1,000 miles a year in the car, and had it serviced by a friend who works on older and classic cars.

Zak’s decided that it’s time for the car to go to a new home now, given that he doesn’t use it that much, and so on to a new owner it will go.

EXTERIOR

Finished in what we believe to be Alpine White, it’s a lovely honest example of a GTi. The white colour with the black trim brings back memories of the 80’s.

Wheels & Tyres
Sitting on 14″ wheels, the cars wheels presented in good condition. A few small marks on the rims, take a look at the photos and video review.

Bodywork
We conducted out usual review of the bodywork, filming up and down all the panels, watch it to see the detail. The panel gaps and shut-lines all looked even on the car. We noticed a small bit of rust bubbling on one of the sills, see the photos for detail.

Paint
Alpine White we believe, and it really is a lovely colour for this car to have been finished in. There is a bit of cracking on some leading edges of panels, and a little over-spray where remedial action has taken place in the past. Watch the video for an extensive review.

Glass and Trim
Glass and trim present in good condition for a car of this age. There is a small crack in the rear rubber of the bumper, and some of the trim could benefit from the right detailing products to bring out a darker finish, take a look at the photos for detail.

INTERIOR

Finished in cloth, with some red accents, a real 80’s hot-hatch vibe.

Seats and Carpets
Black cloth with red check stitching and red and black carpets, a lively cabin to be in. You can tell that this car has been well looked after in its life, by the few owners who have cherished it. Take a look at the video review to get a real sense of the cabin.

Dashboard
Quite a simple dashboard for this car, not loaded with lots of dials and switches. As with the rest of the cabin, it presents itself in great condition. Take a look at the pictures.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick
GTi steering wheel sitting proud on the steering rack, a subtle red accent in the centre to make sure you don’t forget what you are driving. The gearstick show some significant wear, most likely cracking caused by the age of the car. Watch the videos and photos for the detail.

MECHANICS

Zak took us on a quick drive on the local roads to put the car through it’s paces, see the details below.

Engine and Gearbox
The 1.6L engine was signing away on our drive, and Zak took the car through all 5 gears on a dual carriageway without issue.

Suspension and Brakes
On our short drive, we didn’t observe any issues from the suspension or steering, the car taking in the roads with ease, watch the video review to see for yourself.

The Drive
A quick blast in the sun, Zak drove the car with ease, and the car reciprocated in taking us along our journey.

Electrics and Other
Zak informs us that everything works as it should do, manual roof and windows on this hot-hatch… lightness remember!

HISTORY

Zak has owned this car for just over 3 years, and with just 3 previous owners before him, we’d consider it a low ownership car for this model.

The car is showing just over 86,950 miles as of 17.06.2019.

HPi Check Results

OUR SUMMARY

The 205 GTi is a real drivers car. Small and sporty, it involves you as a driver, and you need to put the work in to get the most out of it, but that’s what all the fun is about right!

This example has a low number of owners in it’s life, and presents in good condition. If you are looking for a 205 GTi, the white version is definitely our pick of the bunch. Get in touch to find out more.
