Recent Buyer Review – Eamonn McParland on 11th May “From my first general enquiry through to the purchase of my very own MGA, Adam and the team at Trade Classics were quite simply, awesome.  I fully recommend Trade Classics without hesitation nor reservation to everyone who is seeking a classic car.  A brilliant business model, supported by a really neat and usable website though ultimately managed by a great group of professional, sincere and trustworthy people”. THE CAR & JAMES

James has owned this Triumph TR6 for around 14 years since 2005. It’s a car he has always wanted as a boy, the looks of the car really catching his attention when he was younger. He mentions the “big wheels” compared to other sports cars of the era, that really set off the look.

In his ownership, he’s taken it on road trips to the highlands and around Scotland, and along to the odd car show here and there. Along with the leisurely use, he’s kept the car on the road by servicing with a local garage to him.

Now, after all these years of ownership, the time has come for James to part way with the car. A move of house means he is loosing his garage space for the car, and a new kitchen is on the cards too so the 6 pot engine will be sold for pots and pans of other sorts!

EXTERIOR

Finished in white with a black soft top, this roadster has that low slung stance that TR6’s are known for. Watch the video and take a look at the images uploaded.

Wheels & Tyres
Wearing the TR6 wheels with 15″ tyres. Take a look at the video review to see the condition, the wheels look good across the car.

Bodywork
The bodywork on this example of the TR6 has some typical spots that need attention. There is some rust on the near side front wing, along with the outer skin of the passenger side door. We also think the doors could do with some adjustment to help with the shut-lines across the car. Take a look at the detailed video review.

Paint
The paintwork finished in white across the car, does look in line with the age of the car. Our view is that it needs a refresh, but as you’ll see from from of the photography, from afar the car still has a pleasant appeal. View the detailed exterior images and video to see for yourself.

Glass and Trim
All of the glass and trim across the car looks good, with the rubber seals looking good.

INTERIOR

The car is finished inside with black trim, vinyl seats as they were originally, and black carpets.

Seats and Carpets
Seats and carpets on this car look good. The vinyl of course doesn’t suffer the way that leather would do, and we believe that the car has been re-trimmed inside in its life.

Dashboard
The dash with wood veneer and black dials looks good. All the dials are easily legible, and the dashboard looks in line with the cars age and use.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick
Finised with a lovely wooden Mota-Lita steering wheel, and a Triumph badged gearstick, both look in good condition.

MECHANICS

James took us on a short drive around the local area in the evening sun, to show us how the car performs on the road.

Engine and Gearbox
We did our usual cold start and James fired up the car without issue. On the road, the engine pulled us along as it should, and we managed to go through all the gears and turn on the over-drive as you’ll see in the video.

Suspension and Brakes
Take a look at the video to see how the car handled on the local roads where we went on our drive.

The Drive
A short blast around the local roads, we kept the roof up so that you could hear us speak, and the car had the kind of cabin noises you’d expect from a Triumph roadster of this age.

Electrics and Other
James tells us that everything is working on the car as it should do.

OUR SUMMARY

TR6’s look like great fun. The straight 6 engine upfront, soft-top down in the sun, and the sports exhaust singing along on country roads is how they should be used.

This example has been owned and cherished by James for 14 years, and now it’s available for a new owner to take custodianship. We think this car could benefit from a respray to tidy it up and help it to live on for many many more years to come. Get in touch if this is the car for you.

We can also help with transportation – for example we have a trusted company that can pick up the car and take it to London for circa £500 all inclusive. So don’t let distance put you off getting this TR6 🙂
