Yellow Fiat 500Is the Fiat 500 the ultimate city car?

Maybe !

Is the Fiat 500 the most recognisable supermini?

Perhaps !

Stylish?

Yes!

Fashionable?

Definitely!

Okay, so why do we love the Fiat 500 so much?

Since being re-launched in 2007, the new Fiat 500 has sold over a million models across the world.  It”s been a HUGE hit for Fiat.  It”s a practical choice for city dwellers, it”s the ideal town car for sneaking into little parking spaces.

But more than that, the Fiat 500 has so much personality, it”s a cheeky little car.

Fiat has found loads of ways to personalise your own cool Fiat 500, both inside and out.  Make your own motor stand out from the kerb so to speak.  And it shows, you see so many different colour combinations.  White cars are not always that interesting, but the white Fiat 500 has ways to make it sexy.  You can add strips, like the colours of the italian flag for example.

With a base price of under £10k, drivers can go to town on the options and add-ons and why not – this partly what makes the new Fiat 500 so cool!

But it”s not a new thing, of course!

The classic Fiat 500″s were produced for 18 years between 1957 and 1975.

It was launched as an affordable car, aimed at city dwellers in the cash-strapped postwar years.  It was considered to be one of the first ever city cars, and gave Fiat a lot of commercial success.  People, especially the Italians, loved the chic and cheap combination.

Fiat decided to cease production of the 500 in 1975, and replace it with the Fiat 126.

The white 1971 Fiat 500 formerly owned by the Prime Ministers wife, Samantha Cameron, recently sold at auction for over £18,000.  In excellent condition, this cute little Fiat 500 had only 13,000 miles on the clock despite its 30 year history.  It would have usually sold for around £6,000, but it”s previous owner history inflated the price somewhat.

If all this Fiat 500 talk has whetted your appetite for a spin in a classic Fiat 500, you could always hire one.  We know a company with two beauties for hire if you are looking to hire a classic Fiat 500 in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire or Cambridgeshire.

It”s a lot less expensive that you”d expect to hire a classic Fiat for the day, with prices starting at £30, with unlimited mileage, plus insurance and breakdown included.  Call them on 077142 12841, and they”ll be happy to talk to you about rental possibilities including weekend rates and airport services.

The two classic Fiat 500″s are both stunning 1969 classics, made all that bit more special by their striking colours.  One is bright blue and the other is positano yellow.
