Jacob has been with us since the early days back in 2018 and he still remembers his first consignment: “After being trained by Kulraj on a black Rover Mini Cooper, I went on to consign my first car – a 1971 Morris Mini Van (850).” Based in Bristol, Jacob covers the South West of the UK for us.
Jacob’s photography journey began at school, where he became fascinated with Photoshop, the darkroom, film photography, and digital cameras. After completing his A-levels, he started working as a nightclub photographer. A few years later, he progressed to weddings and classic car photography for Trade Classics.
Jacob says his ultimate joy is in creating storytelling images filled with emotion and memories: “Whether it’s a heartfelt moment between a couple or a classic car on a winding road, I focus on capturing real, timeless photographs.”
Currently, Jacob drives a 2014 Mazda MX-5 NC Sport Venture 1.8. He has previously owned several BMW E46 3 Series, both saloons and coupes, as well as a VW Passat, Mini Cooper S R53, Toyota Starlet, and two Ford KAs. His favourite car he has owned was a 2002 BMW 3 Series Coupe in ‘Topaz Blue’ with 18” MV3 alloy wheels.
A car Jacob would love to consign is the Ferrari F40 – its iconic shape and sound embody everything a Ferrari should be. During the summer months, he would like to own a Porsche 911 Turbo (930) in ‘Guards Red’, another iconic car with the classic whaletail. In the winter, his eyes are set on a Land Rover Defender 90 County SW in Epsom Green.
With so many memorable shoots, Jacob found it difficult to choose a favourite. However, one that stands out was a Ferrari F355 F1 Berlinetta—one of the first Ferraris he’d experienced up close, and his first taste of riding in one. He said, “The roar of the exhaust as we drove around London was incredible.”
His favourite shot, taken during a consignment in Cheddar, is of a 1998 Porsche 911 Targa (993): a ¾ rear view of the car blasting up the beautiful roads of Cheddar Gorge.
Jacob uses a Sony A7III paired with either a 35mm f/1.4 or 85mm f/1.8 prime lens.
