The Best Car Shows on Netflix

If you’re like us, and with the travel restrictions you’re pining to drive your car, then we have a potential solution to get that driving feeling fix. Here’s a list of the best car shows I have seen on Netflix recently, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Shelby American

The documentary focuses on Carroll Shelby who becomes an icon in the automotive world. Featuring interviews, along with vintage footage of the old cars we have all idolised, from the AC Cobra through to the GT40 built to beat Ferrari.

Shelby and Henry Ford’s rivalry with Ferrari grew each day. Carroll believed they were putting their own drivers and his friends, in danger at every race, whilst Mr Ford and Enzo Ferrari had bad business dealings in the past.

Rust Valley Restorers

Residing in the pictoresque area of the Rocky Mountains, California, beholds one of the most unique car communities in the world, “Rust Valley”. There are countless hectares of old and vintage cars that have unfortunately become covered in rust.

The series follows a team of passionate and eccentric restoration workers. They use their skills to restore these vintage cars to former glory whilst trading and selling them once they become a treasure in themselves.

Fastest Car

There is a trend happening these days on YouTube… drag races! This particular series aims to find out if “sleeper cars” can keep up with the superiorly advanced supercars through modifying and tuning these obscure machines.

These petrol-heads will do whatever it takes to keep up with a Porsche, Lamborghini and Ferrari. Follow their journey of craving the street-cred they desperately desire.

Car Master: Rust to Riches

With a brand new series coming to Netflix after success in 2018, Gotham Garage are not quite the restorers that like factory spec, they are out there! Owner Mark Towle leads a crew that want glamour and style that will get them those six-figure sums when taking the car to sale.

Formula 1: Drive to Survive

Unfortunately it doesn’t look like there will be a new series come the end of 2020 due to the current climate. But take a look at the behind-the-scenes footage of our favourite F1 drivers during the 2018 and 2019 season.

Not necessarily focussing on the chronological order of the season, each episode brings a new insight into a team’s success, struggles, drivers or a situation that shocked us all when at the edge of our seats like the famous 2018 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

The Gentleman Driver

This one took me by surprise. Following the lives of four wealthy businessmen who are looking to make a name for themselves in the highest levels of sports-car racing.

The documentary is littered with information about elite racing and thrilling scenes that makes for an easy watch over a good hour and a half.

Top Gear

This show had to make my list. Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond are probably the best trio after Nirvana. But they are more like Alvin and the Chipmunks with their comedy.

With a vast array of series on Netflix, your nostalgic viewing still makes for good entertainment if you have already watched all of them like me.

My favourite scene is probably when Jeremy is in the Ariel Atom that almost rips his face off. I may get that framed one day and put it in my imaginary garage with over 100 classics.

Thank you for reading this article. What are the best car shows you have watched recently? I always need more to add to my list!
