Okay so I know we”re still in summer, however, now is a good time to start thinking about how you plan to care for your classic car this winter.  So right now who is offering good value winter checks for your classic car?

I was driving along the other day listening to the radio, when I heard that Ford are offering a £19.99 winter check service.  At first I thought that £19.99 was quite a high price.  But then I realised that there was a little more to it.  With the offer from Ford, you pay £19.99 for the winter check service and you receive a £20 voucher for Marks and Spencer”s.

So you actually make a 1p profit!

I realised that my own car could do with a bit of a check-up for winter driving, so I looked into it !  In summary, the The Ford Winter Check is a safety check of 30 elements.  This includes key checks such as brakes, engine oil, tyres etc.  In addition, as part of the check on your anti-freeze fluid and screenwash fluid, they”ll also give you a top up to the correct level.

If the Ford Winter Check sounds like a good deal to you, then check out the Ford website by searching for “Ford Winter Checks” in your favourite search engine, for participating centres.

I also had a look around, and found details online for a number of providers of the winter check service.  Bosch are offering a free 28 point winter health service for your car.  What I appreciate most about the Bosch service is the online element – see here.

Conveniently, you can book online. But also Bosch have published an online copy of the report, so you can see exactly what they”ll be looking at.  The fact that it”s freeis of course a rather positive point.  The Bosch service is available at 530 service centres nationwide.

Esso are also offering a free winter health check service through Halfords” centres.  You can register online with Esso in order to receive a voucher for a free winter check at Halfords.

So if your beloved car is out on the road this year, rather than being safely tucked up in the garage, then a winter check might be a good idea.  You could take advantage of one of the winter check services, like those I”ve mentioned in this blog.

Or take some time to run through some key checks yourself.  On a similar theme, check out the how to store a classic car blog for information if you are planning to keep your classic in the garage during the winter.

Finally, get in touch with us if you”ve already used a good winter check service for your car this winter, we”d love you to share the tip.
