Recent Buyer Review – Simon Welsh on 1st May “Found my ideal 90’s sports car on Trade Classics. Living in Bournemouth and the car being in the Midlands I relied heavily on the advert, photos and videos.

On picking the car up I wasn’t disappointed. Everything was as it had been described. So I got straight into it and drove home. What a drive put a smile on my face.

Thanks very much Trade Classics and I’m now looking out for my next classic to add to the collection.”.

Kevin has owned the car for 6 years to use the car for leisure. The mileage of the car has been minimal under his ownership. He has used the car on local journeys and day trips to the coast.

He has taken the car to Aston Martin specialists for maintenance and repairs. He describes the car as “great fun” and has loved taking it to Goodwood every year. Watch the ‘Meet the Owner’ video to find out more

Along with the general maintenance, he’s had some functional additions to improve everyday use in the form of cameras front and back, an HDMI connection to allow an Apple smartphone to connect to the screen. This lets you use your favourite navigation app and Bluetooth connectivity to be to play music, radio or podcasts through the stereo from your phone.

It has always been garaged and covered under Kevin’s ownership. The “Classic Additions” car cover can be included in the sale.

The design will surely dub the DB9 as a classic in the future. Please see all photos and videos to view the condition.

Wheels & Tyres
The 19in 10-spoke alloy wheels look stunning. Set in silver, the Aston Martin badge beams proudly in the centre. The tyres look in excellent condition also and are ready to be driven safely on the road. The grey brake callipers come as an option.

The bodywork looks incredible and will no doubt be a classic in the future. Please review our exterior video as you will notice a couple of minor dents that we point out for your convenience.

Set in Meteorite Silver, the overall condition of the paint is even in finish and colour across the car. There is some very minor scratching by the door handles that you might pick up in the videos, take a look through to see all the detail.

Glass and Trim
Both are in excellent condition across the car.

The cabin is ready to take on the road in joy and comfort. Set in a sumptuous Black Cherry, any passenger will want to ride with you everywhere.

Seats and Carpets
The seats look in good condition, in line with the car’s mileage, whilst the Black Cherry carpets look well kept and recently cleaned by Kevin. The seatbelts are set in Warm Charcoal as an option.

The centre-piece of the dashboard looks stunning in a Walnut Veneer finish.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick
The touchtronic paddles are situated behind the steering wheel, both in excellent condition.

There is nothing more satisfying than starting up a V12. Aston Martin is renowned for their bellowing acoustics that makes the car so special. Please review the car being started from cold in the video on top of the excellent condition of the engine bay in the photos.

Engine and Gearbox
The 5.9L V12 engine is no stranger to performance and reliability. The DB9 can accelerate from 0 to 97 km/h (60 MPH) in 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 299 km/h (186 mph). The six-speed ZF Friedrichshafen ‘Touchtronic’ semi-automatic gearbox featuring paddle-operated semi-automatic mode.

Suspension and Brakes
The brakes are large Brembo four-piston callipers in the front and rear set in grey. The chassis benefits being 25% lighter than its predecessors and support the double-wishbone suspension that is extremely reliable to the back end of the car when accelerating quickly.

The Drive
A gentle joy to drive, the seats are like a glove that makes you instantly comfortable. The car oozes class and comparing to any of its competitors is like having chalk with cheese.

Electrics and Other
Kevin mentions you are able to connect your phone for enhanced entertainment features and allows you to connect any sat-nav app you choose to make you feel comfortable when going to any destination you desire. These modifications were carried out by “Aston Installations”, a well respected Aston Martin specialist who helped Aston Martin integrate Bluetooth in the later models of DB9 and Vantage.

The DB9 also comes with loads more options such as:

  • High Spec Alarm System
  • Original Aston Martin Sat-Nav
  • Cruise Control
  • Door Cappings matching upper leather colour
  • Linn 950W Audio System with Dolby Logic II
  • Powerfold Mirrors
  • Parking Cameras Front and Rear
  • Rear Parking Sensors
  • Integrated Telephone System
  • Heated Front Seats and Windscreen
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring
  • Tracker
  • Original Aston Martin Battery Charger

The car has been cared for well by all previous owners, enjoying a great service history from various Aston Martin specialists.

The car has two former keepers, one of them actually being Aston Martin themselves, where it was serviced in their Press Garage. The previous owner acquiring the vehicle from them in 2006. Kevin has looked into the cars history with Aston Martin and has obtained a print out of all the work done under warranty while in their care. Best guess as to what the car was used for is as a press demonstrator.

Kulraj Salh

Hi David, thanks for the questions.

Thanks for your response Kulraj, sadly I think the auction will come too soon for me but I will keep an eye on it. Best regards, David
