Matt’s Story

Matt has been into photography since the age of 14, when he first picked up his late grandfather’s Yashica Electro 35 rangefinder. Fast forward to 2013, he turned professional and began working with a large dealer group. He then moved to work with Renault for a couple of years before going fully freelance in 2019 with his company, Full Beam Creative – around the same time he first crossed paths with Trade Classics.

Looking inside his camera bag, you will find a couple of mirrorless Sony cameras – the A7R IV and A7 IV – along with his CAA-approved drone licence. Matt also uses a Canon EOS 5 film camera for when he wants to pretend it’s 2003, popping in a roll of Kodak Gold.

Matt’s Car History

Matt currently has a MINI Cooper Sport, prior to which he had a MINI Coupe. He’s had a total of 14 new Minis: having worked at Dick Lovett Mini for years, he had them as company cars and has loved them ever since!

After shooting a pair of Koenigseggs recently we can’t imagine it could get much better but Matt told us his ultimate dream car to shoot would be a Ferrari 288 GTO, the precursor to the F40: it holds a special place in Matt’s heart, quite rightly.

Matt’s Favourite Consignments

One of Matt’s most memorable shoots was a little Fiat 127 Sport — a modest classic for sure, but what it lacked in size it more than made up for in photogenic character.

Matt shared his most memorable shoot with us, fairly recently, when he photographed a pair of Koenigseggs for a private client: a Jesko and a Regera. He said, “It’s not every day you see two Koenigseggs at the same time, let alone get the chance to shoot them and be a passenger in both.”
