Role: Freelance Photographer
Joined: 2020
Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Paul’s part of the furniture here at Trade Classics, he’s worked with us for the last five years or so and has photographed hundreds of cars. Paul covers the North West, Midlands and North Wales, although he’s happy to go wherever we need him, especially for a tasty car!

Having been interested in anything automotive for the past 25+ years, Paul loves going to shows, particularly VW shows—photographing the variety of cars on display, as well as his own pride and joy (whichever car that happens to be at the time). He soon developed a strong passion for photography, and in 2018 decided to take it more seriously, beginning to take photos for friends and other show attendees on a one-to-one basis.
This helped Paul to develop his own style and take what had become a serious hobby to the next level. In 2019, he realised this was what he really wanted to do and made the transition into freelance photography—and he hasn’t looked back since.
Paul shoots with two Nikon D850s—usually one set up with a 70–200mm lens depending on how much space he has, and the other fitted with either a 50mm prime or a 24–70mm.
Paul currently owns a 2002 Porsche 911 C4S. Earlier this year he sold his 1981 924 Turbo, which he had owned for eight years. Before that, he owned:
Paul’s dream car is a Porsche 911 GT3 (997). You can find him on Instagram @wright_shot_photography.
Trying to narrow down a favourite shoot is difficult for Paul. He told us: “That’s quite a difficult one… there have been a few! I’m a sucker for something German, so anything Porsche-related is always great fun to shoot. I always spend much longer talking to the vendor about the car, and take far more photographs than I even need—but that’s the problem when you have a stunning car in front of you.”
However, one of Paul’s most memorable shoots for us was a 1962 Mini that had just been restored by its owner. He recalled: “We set off to do the on-the-road video and straight away he was driving it like he stole it… flat out down an A-road, no seatbelts… I was trying not to look nervous as he tore down the road. I asked him if he was sure the brakes worked OK, because if we needed them and they didn’t, it would have been goodnight Vienna for us both.”

Here’s some images Paul is particularly proud of, together with some photos of him out on location.
