A small commission  - we take just 5% + VAT of the agreed sale price and the seller gets the balance - this is how we operate our time intensive service, remembering we pay for delivery and warranty costs out of that fee too.

Yes - we action a comprehensive HPi check on all of our vehicles that looks for past history including being written off, outstanding finance or stolen.

Of course, it's not unusual to have outstanding finance on a vehicle, when this happens we state this clearly on the listing and confirm with the seller that this will be cleared in full before the sale is completed.

Once you confirm that you with to purchase the car then you'll pay online the 5% + VAT to us.  This acts as a non-refundable deposit and is also our fee once the sale is complete.

Then you have 7 days to pay the balance to the seller electronically, i.e. no cash is accepted.

Once payment has been made to the seller, and the seller confirms, then you are free to either pick up the car yourselves, or let us organise free delivery to your home address.

Of course, if you choose to arrange finance, then the finance company will make payment to the seller on your behalf - again, once the seller confirms receipt then you can pick up the vehicle, or have it delivered.

All fixed price cars sold in Modern Performance come with at least 6 month warranty - we will state on the listing the type of warranty included with the car - there are three possible options:

1. Manufacturers' warranty, i.e. the car is within the period of time that the manufacturer's warranty covers, e.g. if a 3 year warranty is provided and the car is 2.5 years old now, then the remaining 6 months will be this warranty.
2. Sellers own warranty - the seller may have taken out an extended manufacturers' warranty or purchased a new warranty after the manufacturers' warranty had expired.  In these cases, this is the warranty that will be provided so long as there is at lease 6 months remaining and it's transferable to the new owner.
3. Trade Classics purchased warranty - if the car doesn't have a warranty option as per #1 and #2 above then we, Trade Classics, will purchase a comprehensive 6 month warranty for the car operated by industry leader Customer Protect - more details about the 'Comprehensive' product they provide can be found here - and below are the key facts of that warranty:

• • The hourly labour rate is a max of £80+ VAT per hour.
  • You can use any VAT registered garage of your choice.
  • £5,000 is the maximum limit per claim.
  • Unlimited number of claims up to the value of the vehicle within the 6 months.

Note: no warranty is provided for cars sold at auction.

Modern Performance cars on a fixed price sale does include delivery in the price quoted - this is only for cars listed in the 'Modern Performance' section of our site.

Please Note: delivery is not included for cars bought at auction - you'll see a delivery calculator at the bottom of auction listing page that will give you a good idea of the delivery costs. We have two trusted transporter companies that we have agreed a preferential rate with, and we'll pass you the details of these people once you win a car at auction.

Yes - no problem, you can choose to pick up the car from the sellers location.

We only sell cars via our marketplace that are located in mainland UK, i.e. currently any outlying islands to the mainland, including NI, is not covered by our service and the free delivery option for buyers is not available.

With the seller - the car's location is published on the listing and there's a map at the bottom of the page.  This is important if you wish to see the car in advance, or you would like to pick it up instead of taking advantage of our free delivery.

Yes - of course, we only accept vehicles from sellers that are prepared to show prospective buyers.

ASAP - once payment has been made and received then we'll schedule the transporter to pick up the car and have it delivered to you.  In most cases this is within 72 hours.

No - ultimately we are interested in agreeing good quality and fresh-to-market vehicles from genuine sellers, that will appeal to our buyers.  We look for post 2015 performance cars that are in good condition, well looked after, and with a good level of service history. 

We take time - to start off with we begin by understanding the vehicle fully, for example factory options, condition and mileage. Once we have this information, after speaking with the owner, then we analyse the market to gauge the vehicle against recent sales and set a price as low as we can to give you a great deal.

The price you see is called the Advertised Price which includes our 5% + VAT premium (6% inc. VAT total).

We get to know our sellers - as the security and safety of our community is our top priority.

Our terms and conditions are very straightforward.

For example, the sale is between the buyer (person or company buying the car) and you the seller.  We are a marketplace that sits between the two of you facilitating the sale.  We pay for collection / delivery of the car and also arrange and pay for the warranty which is in the buyer's name.  The car is sold on a 'Sold as Seen' basis with no additional warranties.  Essentially it's a private sale - we are in the middle making sure it all goes through smoothly and take a 5% + VAT fee from the sale price.
