Introduction

Jacob Boodrie
Professional Consigner

The Porsche 911 has long been a benchmark for sports car performance, and the ~420BHP Turbo model only strengthened its legendary status.

The Porsche 911 Turbo (996) was launched in 2000, marking the start of a new era for the iconic model. From the factory, it delivered an impressive ~420bhp through an all-wheel drive system, enabling it to put power down quickly and reliably. This combination of performance and traction helped the Turbo quickly gain popularity, effortlessly upholding the 911’s storied reputation. In addition to its dynamic capabilities, the 911 Turbo also benefited from Porsche’s renowned German engineering, offering comfort and practicality that made it a well-rounded sports car for everyday enjoyment.

This particular 996 Turbo is offered after ~11 years of ownership and presents in great condition. It's covered just ~56,000 miles from new, and is “Arctic Silver” over "Metropol Blue" leather interior, and features like a Bose sound system and Tiptronic gearbox. Accompanied by a comprehensive history file, since servicing the car has covered less than ~200 miles in the last 3 years, it comes with a current MOT valid until 05.03.2026.

This listing was written from information supplied by Jacob after meeting David the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed owning this sports car for ~10.5 years — every drive feels like a special occasion when it comes out of the garage.

David has thoroughly enjoyed owning his 911 (996) Turbo over the past ~10.5 years. It’s been kept in a dry garage and reserved for sunny weekend drives — something clearly reflected in both the mileage and overall condition of the car. He's covered ~6,000 miles in his ownership, most of that in the first 4 years when he lived in Bristol.

While he’s loved the experience, David has found that, with most of his miles now covered in a more practical daily driver, he and his wife are simply not using the 911 as much as they once did. Fully aware that this kind of car deserves to be driven, he has decided to offer it for auction with us. David will be available to answer any questions about the car in the comments below.

Exterior

Instantly recognisable from every angle, the 911 Turbo offers a wide stance and aggressive aero styling that make it stand out.

Wheels and Tyres

The 18" wheels, finished in a gunmetal grey, look great on this example and give the car a sportier look than factory items. During our visit, the wheels appear well cared for, with no sign of any obvious damage to any of the spokes.

The wheels are fitted with Pirelli/Michelin tyres dated 2016, and these also appear to be in good condition, with a good amount of tread remaining and no visible cracking or signs of age on the sidewalls.

image

Bodywork

The bodywork of this 911 Turbo looks in great condition, with all the panel gaps around the car appearing to align very well. During our visit, we didn't spot any obvious dings or dents around the bodywork. Sometimes the bottom of the wheel arches can suffer on these cars, but with the modest mileage and care, these ones look good.

We've provided more detailed observations through our high-resolution images and videos. Please take the time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

image

Paint

Finished in "Artic Silver Metallic" (L92U), the paint is applied with even coverage and colour across each panel. The paintwork appears very well cared for over it's previous ownership, and David admits he loves getting the car out to clean and polish it on the regular occasion. We did notice one very small stone chip on the front bumper, but you'll have to get really close to notice this small blemish.

Once again, we've captured high-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves.

image

Glass and Trim

The glass on this 911 Turbo looks great and is in line with the mileage. During our visit, we didn't notice any chips, cracks, or discolouration. The window seals also look good and align with the overall condition of the car.

The bumpers, door handles, and window surrounds are all in great condition as well.

image

Interior

Expect nothing less than a driver focused cockpit from Porsche, offering a comfortable drive yet one that offers total confidence on the road.

Seats and Carpets

The "Metropol Blue" leather electric seats have held their shape very well over the years, as you would expect with cherished and careful ownership. There are some age related creases, but otherwise they look great.

A similar story is told with the door cards and navy carpets, showing typical colour fade you see on cars from Porsche from this era. For a detailed view of the cabin, please take a look at the extensive media.

image

Dashboard

The dashboard is covered in the "Metropol Blue" leather, the car optioned with full leather interior, and presents five dials in front of the driver.

The dashboard in this 911 Turbo shows no signs of any major damage or scuffs, and with no warning lights displayed. The odometer showed a reading of ~56,766 miles during our visit.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The "Metropol Blue" leather wrapped Porsche steering wheel is fitted, optioned with the Tiptronic controls. The original steering wheel is in great condition, aligning with the mileage of this car, and the leather wrapped silver gear selector looks good too.

For a closer look, check out the image gallery to see the detail.

image

Mechanics

The 3.6L flat-six engine is paired with a twin-turbo setup, producing an impressive ~420BHP from the factory, delivered to all 4 wheels through a Tiptronic gearbox for smooth, effortless gear changes.

Engine and Gearbox

Featuring the 3.6L Porsche engine with a twin-turbo set up. On the day of our visit, we started the car from cold, and it performed well on the road, the engine pulled nicely, idled smoothly, and ran without any apparent faults.

Take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold, driving around, and for a closer look underneath the 911 Turbo and the smart engine bay.

image

Suspension and Brakes

The suspension appears to be in good condition, providing a smooth journey on the sweeping coastal roads.

During our short drive in the car, it felt just as you'd expect for a sports car from this era, coming to a stop without a fuss too.

image

The Drive

This Porsche 911 Turbo offers an incredibly fun and engaging driving experience. David has thoroughly enjoyed using the car on sunny weekend road trips around the UK.

The 911 Turbo started up right away without any issues. During a drive with David, the car felt responsive and well put together, with more than enough power for the road. We didn’t notice any unusual noises from the engine or suspension.

image

Electrics and Other

We didn’t test all the electrics during our visit, but David reports that, to his knowledge, all of the electrics are functional and operational, aligning with the overall condition of the car. The car has its original sat-nav and Bose stereo unit fitted along with a sun-roof.

In our video the reverse lights seem to go off, David told us; “I can only assume that with the engine cover open it inhibits the reversing lights. I have, this morning, taken two new videos showing both the reversing lights working and the spoiler operating via the switch on the dash. The spoiler also operates when the car exceeds a preset value(adjustable) and goes back down when the car’s speed drops below another adjustable speed, currently 30mph." We have uploaded David's videos here:

History and Paperwork

Coming to market from ~11 year ownership, just 6 former keepers, this modest miles example presents in great condition and was last serviced less than ~200 miles ago.

The car is coming out of a ~11 year ownership with David. The car is highly original and has been very well cared for over the years. The car comes with the following options from factory: Tiptronic S transmission, Leather sports steering wheel with tiptronic control, manual antenna with 4 loudspeakers, Windshield Tinted Upper Part Darker Coloured, Power Steering Plus option, PCM2 Basic Module Including Radio, PCM2 navigation.

Take a look at this history and paperwork media to see the previous MOT reports, servicing and parts this 911 996 Turbo has received over its life. The 911 comes with a current MOT valid until 05.03.2026.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

Auction Update – The seller DavidSu has removed the reserve on this auction, and so it is now “on sale” with no reserve, and will sell to the highest bid on the evening. Good luck if you’re involved in the bidding. Best, Kulraj – Trade Classics

Hi, looking at the photos the back wheels look smaller compared to other 996 turbos? Are they the correct size tyres? And how much tread is left?
Any issues with the hydraulics on the spoiler, any leaking etc?
Have the coolant pipes been replaced? I’m told leaking is a common issue.

Thank you

Looking at the pictures of underneath the engine it looks like there is possibly an oil leak near the RH manifold. Can you upload another picture of that area?
thanks
D

Hello, we had this note from Dave today:
“I have received a request to upload more photos of a suspect oil leak. There is no leak. Given the very low ground clearance I have done my best to prove that with the attached pictures taken this morning. Can you please upload them.”

The images start here:

Hi, David. I am not sure whether this model suffers from the IMS bearing issue, but if it does I understand there is a kit for eliminating it. Are you aware of whether there have been any IMS issues with the car and, if so, has the kit been fitted?
Regards,
Laurence

Can you confirm when the last service was and what was done? It looks like 2022?
