Introduction
Jacob Boodrie
The Porsche 911 has long been a benchmark for sports car performance, and the ~420BHP Turbo model only strengthened its legendary status.
The Porsche 911 Turbo (996) was launched in 2000, marking the start of a new era for the iconic model. From the factory, it delivered an impressive ~420bhp through an all-wheel drive system, enabling it to put power down quickly and reliably. This combination of performance and traction helped the Turbo quickly gain popularity, effortlessly upholding the 911’s storied reputation. In addition to its dynamic capabilities, the 911 Turbo also benefited from Porsche’s renowned German engineering, offering comfort and practicality that made it a well-rounded sports car for everyday enjoyment.
This particular 996 Turbo is offered after ~11 years of ownership and presents in great condition. It's covered just ~56,000 miles from new, and is “Arctic Silver” over "Metropol Blue" leather interior, and features like a Bose sound system and Tiptronic gearbox. Accompanied by a comprehensive history file, since servicing the car has covered less than ~200 miles in the last 3 years, it comes with a current MOT valid until 05.03.2026.
This listing was written from information supplied by Jacob after meeting David the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Hi, looking at the photos the back wheels look smaller compared to other 996 turbos? Are they the correct size tyres? And how much tread is left?
Any issues with the hydraulics on the spoiler, any leaking etc?
Have the coolant pipes been replaced? I’m told leaking is a common issue.
Thank you
Hello, thank you for your interest. Both front and back wheels are 18” with the rears being fitted with Michelin tyres 285/30/ZR18 so these are the correct size tyres for the wheels. I don’t have a tread depth gauge but have measured it at approx. 10mm. There are no problems with the hydraulic spoiler and no leaks. It deploys both from a switch on the dash and automatically when the car exceeds, I think, about 80mph and the retracts when the speed drops below 30mph. I believe both these figures can be adjusted in one of the cars setup menus. Both condensers were replaced in June 2021, since when the care has done about 250 miles. It is unclear if the pipes were replaced at the same time but they appear to be in good condition and there are no leaks.
Looking at the pictures of underneath the engine it looks like there is possibly an oil leak near the RH manifold. Can you upload another picture of that area?
thanks
D
Hello, we had this note from Dave today:
“I have received a request to upload more photos of a suspect oil leak. There is no leak. Given the very low ground clearance I have done my best to prove that with the attached pictures taken this morning. Can you please upload them.”
The images start here:

Thats great – thank you.
I am advised by trade classics that any viewings must be arranged through them. I am happy for you to view the car but please be advised that since I have recently sworn the car it will not be possible to take it on a test drive.
Thank you. In that case I shall not view the car.
Would it be possible to view the car?
The 996 turbos are fitted with Mezger engines (an authentic Porsche motorsports endurance racing engine) which are an evolution of the robust and reliable air cooled unit fitted to the 993. These engines do not suffer the IMS problems seen in some of the non turbo units
Hi, David. I am not sure whether this model suffers from the IMS bearing issue, but if it does I understand there is a kit for eliminating it. Are you aware of whether there have been any IMS issues with the car and, if so, has the kit been fitted?
Regards,
Laurence
As you identified the last minor service was carried out in April 2022. I have not felt there would be benefit in carrying out additional services since the car has done less then 150 miles since this service. The car spends its time in my carriage where it only moves short distances either to the MOT centre or periodically when it is taken out of the garage for cleaning and to run up the engine.
Can you confirm when the last service was and what was done? It looks like 2022?
