A Jaguar masterstroke - beautiful, elegant, powerful and perfectly in keeping with the big cat tradition.

The second generation XK series was launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2005 with the supercharged version becoming available in 2007. The cars proved immensely popular and the latest model was entirely in keeping with Jaguar's tradition.

The car offered an aluminium chassis and a new, Jaguar built, V8 engine which delivered the smooth, refined, effortless power that characterises the Jaguar experience. This, the supercharged XKR model produces over ~500BHP giving it the capability to deliver 0-60 in under 5 seconds and a factory specified top speed of 174 mph. In typical Jaguar style, supercar performance and stunning looks are beautifully blended with luxury, opulence, and comfort.

This glorious convertible is presented in stunning Polaris White over a Charcoal leather interior and comes to auction after ~11 years ownership and fewer than ~53,000 on the clock and a good service history. This car looks fabulous both inside and out as well as offering an exceptional driving experience. The private registration plate M66 HWK is staying with the car.

Meet the owner

I think It is a beautiful looking car and my husband absolutely loved it – it’s great to travel in, powerful, smooth and comfortable.

This car belonged to Linda’s husband Martyn who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Linda she tells us, “Martyn really loved this car – he did lots of research before deciding to go for this specification - it was exactly the one he was looking for”. Linda went on to say, “It brought my husband and me a great deal of pleasure – it’s equally at home for days out in the summer and for long distance motoring. It meant a lot to both of us so I’d really love to see it go to a good home where someone can enjoy it as much as we have”.

All the character and presence of a feline predator with more than a nod to the E-Type – presented in stunning Polaris White.

Wheels and Tyres

The 20-inch “Kalimnos” black alloy wheels present well generally with only some slight kerb marks to the outer rims which have been touched up in places. The centre caps still look good, only showing minor wear and a spare cap comes with the car.

The wheels are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres all round, 255/35ZR20 at the front and 285/30ZR20 at the rear which we understand were replaced in 2022.

There is a receipt for the two rear tyres in the paperwork and all look good with plenty of tread remaining.

Bodywork

The car stands level, shut lines appear good and bonnet, doors and boot all open and close with precision. The black hood looks in great condition and operates smoothly, as can be seen in the Exterior video.

Benefitting from the “Speed Pack” this car is fitted with a front splitter, side skirts, a larger rear spoiler and rear splitter, all of which contribute to its stunning looks.

There is a small, shallow dent to the rear quarter which we’ve tried to show in the photographs although the panel does not appear creased. Elsewhere the bodywork appears very sound, and we could see no evidence of corrosion with only minor surface rust on the rear subframe which can be seen in pictures.

Paint

The Polaris White finish looks absolutely superb and suits the flowing lines of this car perfectly. The finish is consistent and even with a deep shine. There are very few age-related marks and just a small scuff to the offside front valance. Overall, this XKR looks very good and with a full polish we believe it would present superbly.

Glass and Trim

Windscreen, side windows and body coloured door mirrors are clear and undamaged, without chips and free from scratching. Lights and lenses also look great without any signs of damage or clouding. “Black Pack” trim and badging all look in good condition.

Comprehensively equipped cabin presented in luxurious Charcoal leather - stunning.

Seats and Carpets

Charcoal leather seats and “R” embossed headrests are in great condition with only very minor signs of wear to the driver’s seat bolster, as would be expected.

Door cards, centre console trim and headlining also present beautifully. The black carpets are in very good condition with no apparent rips or tears and have been protected by rubber mats in the front.

Dashboard

The dashboard looks great with no damage, marks or scratching that we could see. The instruments appeared to illuminate properly, and all dials and switches look in good order.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The Jaguar branded steering wheel presents well with the trademark Jaguar logo looking fantastic on the centre boss. Electronic drive selector and centre console all look great too. Like the exterior, we believe a thorough clean to the interior would really enhance the presentation of the cabin.

Mechanics

5.0 litre V8 coupled to the legendary Jaguar drivetrain delivers ~500BHP to the rear wheels resulting in an exhilarating, visceral, driving experience – intoxicating!

Engine and Gearbox

Jaguar's highly developed V8 combined with a 6-speed automatic gearbox is enough to give this car a factory specified top speed of 174MPH with 0-60 coming up in 4.6 seconds - no slouch by any standards!

The engine bay is tidy, and we could see no signs of damage or leaks. On our cold start the V8 burst into life easily and quickly settled down to a steady and even idle. There were no warning lights displayed on the dash and emissions appeared clear.

Suspension and Brakes

15.7 inch rotors with 6 pot calipers on the front and 13.8 inch with four pots on the rear mean you can be assured this car can be arrested when required. Not only that but the red calipers look fantastic through the 20-inch black alloy wheels. With a lightweight body, traction control and sportier suspension than its predecessor the XKR handles superbly – this is Jaguar engineering after all.

The Drive

On our brief drive out we found the car was planted, quiet, and stable with a sense of raw potential. The steering is precise while the brakes stop the car smoothly and evenly. The ride is comfortable, there are no untoward knocks, bangs or rattles and the car is smooth with consistent power delivery from the supercharged V8.

Electrics and Other

This XKR has the benefit of an electric hood, windows, and door mirrors together with heated seats, adaptive cruise control and the Jaguar audio and navigation system. Linda confirmed everything works as it should.

With good service history, two main dealer stamps and eight Jaguar specialist stamps, low mileage, and an MOT until April 2024 this late model, second generation XKR is ready to use and enjoy. It’s in great condition and the paperwork includes the owner’s handbook, service manual and a navigation and audio guide. Past MOT certificates and some receipts are also included. Two remote control fobs and a Garmin dashcam are included with the car.

Is there any bills for repairs over the years with things like water pump, timing chains or coolant leaks? Does the air conditioning work and blowing cold?
