Beautifully shaped, extremely fast, and engaging to drive - what else would you expect from Aston Martin.

The DB9 was produced from 2004 and 2016. Originally penned by Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker, two designers famous for the concept designs of the Escort Cosworth, RS200, BMW Z8 and many more. With a much sharper design than the DB7, the DB9 was fitted with the 5.9L V12 from the Vanquish, it offers an aluminium construction, and outstanding performance. The DB9 was the first model to be built at Aston Martin's Gaydon facility in Warwickshire, and it received an excellent reception from the press when launched.

This DB9 was first registered in the UK in 2005, it was used by Aston Martin, shown in the hospitality paddock at Le Mans the same year. It had a major service ~3,000 miles ago in July 2021 and has been in the careful hands of the current owner for the past 8 months.

Meet the owner

I've always had an itch to own an Aston Martin, ever since a former colleague owned a DB2/4.

Colin had the opportunity to purchase this lovely DB9 at the start of the year. He always fancied himself an Aston Martin DB9 after owning a handful of Jaguars and other exotic sports cars in the past too. When he came across this example he knew it was right for him, finished in the right colours, condition and previous service history it was the perfect fit.

Colin has thoroughly enjoyed his ownership over this year and planned to keep the car much longer, although due to health reasons and not using the car as much as he once planned has decided to part with it "I am now in my 77th year, and it is a very fast car and I know I would feel tempted, so I am acting responsibly". Exterior

With glorious and elegant looks, the DB9 is arguably a piece of art, it was a new design style for the brand that still has that classic DB heritage.

Wheels and Tyres

Recently refurbished in March 2022 by "The Wheel Genie", and finished in the original colour of "Brilliant Silver" the wheels appear in excellent uncurbed condition. These wheels were upgraded items by Aston Martin from factory, as seen in the pictures with the on display at Le Mans.

Along with the refurbishment to the wheels, they were given a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's all round. The tyres of course have a great amount of tread left for the new owner, take a look at the photos and videos for a closer look.

Bodywork

The bodywork of this DB9 presents in great condition, with all the panel gaps around the car look to align very well, just as you would expect from an British sports car of this calibre.

We didn't spot any signs of corrosion that these aluminium bodied cars can have, where two metals meet, and just spotted a couple of parking related dents; one to the leading edge of the bonnet, one to the front offside wing as pictured.

Paint

Finished in a desirable navy blue, the paint appeared in great condition on our visit, finished to a high standard, with even coverage and colour across each panel. With the age and mileage of the car, there are a few age related small marks, a small scratch to the rear bumper and some small stone chips to the bonnet.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass on this example looks great and in line with the mileage and ownership, we didn't notice any major chips, cracks, or discolouration on our visit.

The window seals look good too and in line with the rest of the condition of the car. We did notice one very small crack to the nearside front light lens. View the image gallery to see the detail.

Interior

Aston certainly make beautiful interiors - this DB9 feels expensive and luxurious, made with the finest care and quality.

Seats and Carpets

These luxurious soft touch cream leather sports seats support you firmly as you corner, and they look in very good condition with the signs of patina beginning to show on the drivers seat in line with the age and mileage.

The soft leather continues to the door cards, and the car has deep pile navy carpets with over mats. You can tell this car has been cared for over its lifetime by a line of enthusiasts. Please take a look at the extensive media for a detailed view of the cabin.

Dashboard

As found with the rest of the interior, the dashboard is made using high-quality, luxurious materials.

Most DB9s benefit from highly customisable interiors and all of the options are a delight to examine, feel and touch. The instruments are easy to read and Colin assures us they all work as expected. The wood trim to the top of the dash is showing some typical signs of ageing that you'll see across the era of Aston Martin GTs.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The Aston Martin steering wheel and dash mounted gear selection buttons are in great condition too, along with the paddle shifters mounted to the steering column.

Mechanics

~450BHP on tap, straight to the rear wheels, the Volante had a stiffened suspension but a more relaxed suspension configuration.

Engine and Gearbox

Performance and reliability are offered with the mighty Aston Martin "6.0L" V12 engine. It will take you to 60MPH in just ~4.7 seconds and maxes out at ~186MPH.

Please watch the "On the Road" video to see the car being started from cold, then run when up to temperature. We also ran the car at revs after the trip out, to see if any audible "tick" was present when idling, we couldn't detect any noise. Watch the video to see for yourself.

The car was last MOT'd on the 13th January 2022 and last serviced in July 2021 by Forza GB. There is a comprehensive history file that comes with the car, take a look at the details below.

Suspension and Brakes

Fitted with double-wishbone suspension which offers extreme stability when accelerating quickly, the chassis is aluminum and is 25% lighter than its predecessor.

There were no obvious knocks or rattles on the drive out. Please watch the video to see the car accelerating, steering and stopping. It performed just as you’d expect a car of this calibre to. The Drive

Arguably the ultimate Grand Tourer, the DB9 looks, feels, and sounds great - a proper modern classic.

Yes, Nick, it does have sat nav and the disc is present. You can see it with the documents. I must admit I have not fired it in anger preferring my iPhone
