Recent Buyer Review – Simon Welsh on 1st May “Found my ideal 90’s sports car on Trade Classics. Living in Bournemouth and the car being in the Midlands I relied heavily on the advert, photos and videos.
On picking the car up I wasn’t disappointed. Everything was as it had been described. So I got straight into it and drove home. What a drive put a smile on my face.
Thanks very much Trade Classics and I’m now looking out for my next classic to add to the collection.”.

Mamadou loves this car just as much as we do in the office, the 90s essence about the car is truly a timeless design, ahead of its time and unlike most other creations in that decade. Since February 2018, he has owned this example after falling in love with the model after seeing so many in America, whilst working for JLR. After doing his research he chose to buy this car you see here as they became more reliable to drive than the V12 engine from the 850 Ci, that was produced prior to the V8.
Using the Beemer sparingly since purchase, he would take long drives down to Kent to see his girlfriend’s parents. They are now looking to sell as they have started their own business and are travelling all across Europe more frequently more frequently so he wants a new owner to get the miles this car deserves in the future.
You generally would expect a BMW to either be Navy Blue or Silver and with this particular example in Blue, any 8 series enthusiast can rest well at night. The iconic wide-body and pop-up headlights just look stunning don’t they? We have documented this car like no other listing would online so please take the time to watch our ‘Exterior Review’ video and photos to see every angle of the car.
Wheels & Tyres
Wearing BMW 5-spoke wheels that compliment the car well. There are some blemishes of the paint on the wheels. The tyres should be replaced by the new owner as they are starting to degrade. Please see the photos and videos for the detail.
What else can be said about this wide-body 8 series, it just looks stunning. Please review the front bumper images as there are some imperfections that should be looked at.
Please review the condition of the paint across the car. Every angle of the car is displayed in our videos.
Glass and Trim
Both are in excellent condition across the car.
The ’90s saw a host of improvements in electrical engineering around the automotive industry and the 8 series is a fine example of that with many functionalities. This car is designed for pure comfort and pleasure, whether a short or long trip. Overall the interior looks to be in good condition, see for yourself in our extensive media file.
Seats and Carpets
The car was upholstered with an off-white leather that looks incredibly comfortable. When reviewing the carpets you see they are in a fair condition of the car’s age and mileage.
The gauges and rest of the dashboard appear to be in excellent condition, looking clean and well presented. The car is fitted with electronic sensors for mileage and air temperature etc.
Steering Wheel / Gear Stick
Both are in excellent condition with no issues.
Mamadou took us out on a short drive around Leamington Spa. In the ‘On the Road’ video we talk to him further about the overall drive of the car and why this 8 series is so great.
Engine and Gearbox
The 4.0L V8 engine is fitted with an improved valve system of the 8 series, making the overall experience more reliable. The car started first go from cold (see the video). An automatic gearbox is installed that seems smooth changing gears on our ride out.
Suspension and Brakes
The braking worked fantastically on our drive – you really feel the weight of the car pushing you forward when performing a hard brake. Some of the roads around Leamington are particularly bumpy and the car performed extremely well on them, allowing for a smooth drive.
The car really drives great. We didn’t hear or feel anything abnormal on the drive. This car is built for comfort, and comfort is what this car will give you.
Electrics and Other
Upon our visit we tested the electrics and all worked as expected. The sun roof is functional, however, the headlining will need to be refurbished as it will block the sun roof from opening.
Please review the media file with all paperwork that has been provided. There have been various works undertaken on the car with previous owners in order to maintain the condition of the car. The car has been repaired when applicable having been serviced by BMW specialists.
Mamadou has owned the car for 2 years, but as he has a new business he is looking to sell as he is not driving the 8 series as much. The comes with a service booklet.
