One of a new generation of the 1998 3-Series lineup, the 323 Ci coupe was originally one of the high spec cars when it was first launched. The M52 2.5-litre straight-six offered silky smooth delivery with the typical performance and handling virtues associated with the brand. Highly recommended when new, the car has now become part of BMW's legacy.

Sidney is a man with a passionate interest in motorsports, this car is one in a succession of BMWs owned by him. He hasn't been afraid to use this car but tended to keep it for occasional use only. With the recent upgrade to a new style BMW 4-Series, the car has seen less of the open road and while there is no real reason to sell, Sidney feels it would be sensible to pass the car on to someone else to enjoy its charms.

Exterior

Presentation-wise, this E46 coupe is almost flawless - as really is as good as it gets.

Wheels and Tyres

The alloys are in very good condition with just a hint of age and minor wear.

Sidney recently fitted a set of branded Continental tyres - showing just how much he cares for the car. They are all in excellent shape with no suggestion of uneven wear.

Bodywork

The bodywork is in excellent shape, with flush fitting panels, even panel gaps and no evidence of the car having needed any form of repair.

Externally the car has no visual signs of corrosion, with the wheel arches, engine bay, floor pan and boot area looking very clean and solid.

The doors all open and close without effort with no problems noted.

Paint

The car has spent much of its life in the owner's garage, with a great deal of care taken when in use. As a result, the Metallic Topaz blue paintwork has retained its lustre and there are no signs of lacquer damage or evidence of damage on the door edges.

The front of the car is remarkable chip-free with very minor signs of wear observed. The bumpers are scuff-free and the mudguards, which were painted after the sale of the car, have been professionally painted.

Glass and Trim

The glass panes, rubber trim and detailing on the car are in excellent condition.

The interior condition simply highlights the cars exceptional ergonomics and quality - this is a near new experience.

Seats and Carpets

There no significant issues to report in terms of the interior - the seats are in excellent condition with no real suggestions of wear.

The carpets and mats are in very good clean condition, with the boot condition following the same script.

Dashboard

The dashboard is completely unmarked, with just the smallest signs of age.

All of the controls, dials and switchgear is functional.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The gearstick and steering wheel as almost as new, with no signs of damage or wear.

Mechanics

With the benefit of its low mileage and fastidious maintenance, the mechanics are as tight as a drum.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine presentation is excellent and it starts on the button every time.

The engine ran and sounded very well with no issues in regards to the exhaust, cooling, electrics or mechanical durability of the car.

There were no signs of any leaks.

Suspension and Brakes

The condition of the running gear is very good, with no issues in regards to the brakes or suspension components. The brakes are in excellent working order with plenty of life left in the components.

The Drive

Sidney assures us that the car drives well, which considering the mileage, is no surprise. The components are tight, with no slackness in any of the components. No noises are reported to come from the steering, suspension and brakes.

Electrics and Other

There is nothing to suggest that electrical components are likely to cause any issues, with everything on the car in working order.

History and Paperwork

This has to be one of the most original E46 cars currently on sale or has been sold in recent history.

As one might expect for a car that has seen something of a charmed life, it has not needed to visit a garage or parts department other than the servicing. Even the MOTs with the exception of a recent pair of tyres come with a distinctive lack of advisories. With this clean bill of health and regular maintenance, the car is also backed up with the addition of its original bill of sales, with the additional specification to confirm the cars total originality.

To conclude the good news, the car comes with a years worth of MOT.
