Introduction

First class and unmolested example of the excellent E93 325i M-Sport with a fresh MOT. Just a joy to drive, it wafts gracefully along so effortlessly, oozing quality with its subdued yet sonorous 3 litre 6-cylinder tones. It makes every trip a treat.

I gave this to my wife as a present back in 2017 & she loved it immediately for its exceptional smoothness, refinement & comfort. She really hasn't exploited its M-sport capabilities, it has been an indulgent commute & school run car, rarely doing more than a 20 mile round trip. Enough to warm it through properly.

We are reluctantly selling after 8 years of enjoyment. Growing teens mean it doesn't really work any more for school runs & teen taxi duties, so it does too few miles now to justify keeping. It will be a sad day when it goes, & we hope that its next keeper will succumb to its considerable charms too.

Market Auction

Clive, the seller, has created this listing themselves using our free Market Auction tool. Unlike our Curated Auctions, we haven’t photographed the car or written the listing, however we have completed 3 important security checks for your peace of mind.

Exterior

Generally excellent, just a few blemishes for its age & mileage, as pictured. It has been a wonderful daily driver: not quite concourse, but very tidy.

Wheels and Tyres

Virtually spotless BMW MV2 18" M-Sport alloy wheels, little mileage since being fully powder coat refurbished.

Matching tyres with good tread depth all round.

Bodywork

Generally excellent. No body panel dings, just a few minor scratches that don't penetrate the lacquer coat.

The biggest flaws are a pair of shallow creases in the edge of the rear bumper as pictured, & a stone dIng in the roof from a gravel truck! A dent pulling service could likely make a good job of removing it.

Paint

It has gleaming original metallic black paint, with a consistent even finish all over.

Glass and Trim

The windscreen has a small repaired crack near the top, mostly hidden behind the mirror mounting & trim, & a small repaired chip away from the viewing line. Neither was even noticed in the recent MOT test, being disclosed here for completeness. And if the windscreen is ever changed, they'll be gone!

All of the other glass is in perfect unscratched condition.

Interior

The interior is first class & well cared for, all in excellent condition with just the odd sign of use. The heated seats are wonderful on a winter morning - or any morning, according to my wife!

Seats and Carpets

Full black leather seats, heated front seats, all undamaged. The seats are both supportive & comfortable.

The front seats are fully electrically adjustable with 2 memories, & benefit from the M-sport adjustable cushion extension feature.

The front M-Sport seats are cosseting & supportive, contributing to the reassuring solidity of the car. Rear leather seats are in excellent order too.

The electric memory heated leather front seats are in excellent condition with no damage or scuffs, & all functions (mechanical & electrical) work perfectly.

Dashboard

Perfect condition with textured aluminium trims, following through to the doors.

Clear, understated & purposeful instruments & controls become second nature to use.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Stitched leather steering wheel with 'flappy paddle' gearchange. Steering wheel mounted controls for audio & bluetooth phone operation. All in excellent unmarked order.

Mechanics

We just love the silky smooth engine & auto transmission which characterise the car. It's such a pleasure to drive.
This car achieves that much desired but elusive blend of refined practicality with driver involvement. Just delightful.

Engine and Gearbox

Seamless power delivery with a lovely muted but purposeful straight-6 exhaust notes. All adds to the driving charm.

It starts & runs smoothly, but sometimes has a light 'tap' that fades & disappears after a few miles. This is a hydraulic tappet being compressed when the camshaft happens to park in a particular position when the engine is stopped. The engine oil pressure then pumps it back up when next driven.

It is offered fresh from winter dry storage & MOT renewal. Had a spot of bother getting it through NOx emission on MOT, but that appears to have been mostly due to spark plug sooting from repeated winter shuffling with a cold engine. A very clear NOx pass has been achieved on re-test, now hardly measurable!.

The HC emissions are also very low, indicating compression & stem seals are in very good order, "barely run in" as the expression goes!.

Suspension and Brakes

The ride and handling are supple & reassuring with excellent poise. The steering & suspension offer rewarding feedback & connection with no sense of slack or wear.

Both front suspension springs & shock absorbers have been replaced within the last 10k miles.

The Drive

Supple & communicative, the whole car feels so solidly put together & belies its true age. No creaks or rattles at all. These cars have earned a following from drivers who enjoy involvement.

The auto gearstick flicks instantly across the gate to select sport mode for sharper & extended gearchanges, or manual mode. Perfect for when the need arises.

Electrics and Other

There is a comprehensive but not overwhelming complement of electrical features, including electrically operated & heated front seats, Bluetooth phone, cruise control, wheel mounted audio & phone controls.

The sound quality from the audio system is also excellent.

The M-Sport trim level includes SE (Special Equipment) feature content, so luxury isn't compromised for a sporting character.

The electric folding hard top operation is a marvel, & can be fully opened using the key fob outside the car. Quite an entertaining car park stunt!

History and Paperwork

This car has been cosseted & pampered by its last 2 keepers since 2014, both being middle aged mums who have seen it as an indulgent daily drive. Despite being an M-Sport. It has benefited from regular and early maintenance in our ownership.

There is a fully stamped service history book (see pics), the last oil change service having taken place only 100 miles ago. The timing chain was also replaced about 10k miles ago, good for another 80k miles or more.
There are a couple of gaps in the MOT history, where the car was not used in winter, & more recently because it is no longer the right car for our ferrying our growing teenagers around now that they're at secondary school. Just no need to keep this 3rd car on the road when we have 2 other 4 & 5 door cars in daily use. We will also need the space for our daughters 1st car mid next year!
There is a toolkit & emergency tyre inflation kit under the boot floor, & a BMW accessory first aid kit under the front passenger seat.

From Trade Classics:
This is a Market Auction listing, meaning we have not visited and photographed the car - instead the seller has supplied the images and written the description. However we’ve done all our usual seller checks, including photo ID that matches the V5, and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPi that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

Viewings are welcomed, so please get in touch with us via the 'contact us' page - we just need to speak to you first on the phone, have you register on the site, and also send in valid photo ID before confirming a suitable time to visit.

Like all our auctions, if there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - the Buyer's Premium is not refundable in any instance, just like a traditional auction house.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
