Introduction

Paul Wright
Professional Consigner

A unique little car that's been owned and loved by the current owner for eight years.

Based on the updated 110F chassis introduced in 1965, this Fiat 500 is a spirited evolution of Italy’s iconic Abarth city car, reworked by the legendary Carlo Abarth into a true performance machine. While the standard 500 was designed for urban simplicity, Abarth’s enhancements transformed it into a motorsport contender with serious pedigree.

The 110F platform provided a lighter and more refined base for performance tuning. Abarth versions such as the 595 and 695 featured upgraded engines—ranging from 593cc to 689cc - delivering up to 40bhp through high-compression pistons, larger Weber carburettors, and free-flow exhausts. Performance was impressive for such a compact car, with top speeds reaching up to 90mph.

Externally, Abarth models were subtly but purposefully modified, often fitted with ventilated wheels, engine lid props for improved cooling, and, of course, the signature scorpion badging. Underneath, strengthened suspension and drivetrain upgrades gave the 500 Abarth agility that belied its size, making it a formidable competitor in under-750cc racing and hill climb events throughout Europe.

Of course, original Fiat 500 Abarths built with a 110F chassis number are highly sought after and command big money - so this is an entry into a similar experience at sensible money. Sure the decals and some modifications might not be to everyone's taste, but that's an easy change whilst personalising the car to your own taste.

This listing was written from information supplied by Paul after meeting Russ the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

As soon as I saw the car for sale, I loved the modifications, which created something rather special.

Russ purchased the Fiat in 2017 - he immediately fell in love with the styling of this unique Abarth 695 Evocation and didn’t hesitate to buy it.

Since then, the car has been used sparingly in the summer months after being added to part of his collection; he even says that since owning the car, it has only been caught in the rain once. Russ has carried out a number of modifications, creating an even more quirky car. Features like a fridge and a kettle are just a few examples.

Now nearing the age of 80, Russ and his wife have decided to reduce their collection of cars as they plan to downsize in the future.

Exterior

The body on the Abarth Evocation has some desirable features.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with Minilite-style wheels, these are finished in black and are in excellent condition.

The tyres are all matching and have plenty of tread remaining.

Please see the image gallery for detailed shots.

Bodywork

As you can see, the Fiat is no ordinary 500. It features a body kit which has been carefully crafted onto the 500. This includes a lower front spoiler, wider side skirts, air intakes on the quarter panels, and a bonnet vent (although purely for aesthetic reasons, as the engine is in the rear). It also features a split-opening engine cover, and a cleverly cut-out scorpion detail allowing for extra cooling.

The body's condition is excellent. The panel gaps are good, and everything appears to align as it should. There is also a hardtop roof panel that can be quickly attached.

High-resolution images and videos have been provided, so please review multiple angles to give you a realistic impression of the car, just as if you were standing beside it. Please take the time to examine these high-resolution images and videos to assess the condition for yourself.

image

Paint

Finished in bright yellow, the paintwork is excellent with no noticeable chips or scratches. The Fiat wears various Abarth decals on the bonnet, doors, roof and engine cover and could be removed based on the new owners' taste.

Glass and Trim

All of the windows look to be in good condition and have been tinted for added privacy. The chrome trims and seals are also in good condition.

Front and rear lights are all free from damage, and both bumpers and light surrounds have a bright finish.

image

Interior

Who would have thought you could fit two comfortable leather seats, a fridge, and a kettle in a Fiat 500?

Seats and Carpets

The leather seats have been squeezed in and fit like a glove. These are in very good condition with no real signs of wear. The rear seats are also in good condition with no damage, and between these sits the fridge.

Fitted with red carpets, these are in good order.

There is a set of rubber mats fitted to help protect them.

image

Dashboard

The upper section of the dashboard is finished in body colour, with the lower section in vinyl, which is in good condition.

The instruments are working correctly, and the odometer shows ~22,156 Km.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The leather-trimmed steering wheel is in good condition with little sign of age, as is the leather gear knob.

Please refer to the interior gallery for more images.

Mechanics

Fitted with the larger 695cc Abarth engine, the Fiat is said to be capable of ~90mph.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine fires up as you would expect, and with a few gentle revs, it comes to an even idle. When Russ purchased it, Allitalia Ltd. carried out some work to get it running correctly, which is detailed on the invoices in the paperwork section.

Fitted with a four-speed gearbox, the change does take a little bit of mastering. It's just a quirky feature of this Italian classic. However, once mastered, it is great fun, and the car pulls really well.

image

Suspension and Brakes

Some of the bushes on the front and rear suspension components were replaced in 2018. Since then, fewer than ~1,500 miles have been covered. The ride is as you would expect, and no knocks or bangs were present on our test drive.

There was also some work carried out on the brakes, which saw two new rear wheel cylinders fitted. The brakes bring the car to a stop in a straight line, with no issues reported.

image

The Drive

Driving the car is a thrilling, hands-on experience that belies its tiny size. With its rev-happy engine delivering around 40bhp, sharp handling, and signature Abarth growl, the car feels lively and eager, especially on twisty roads.

The unassisted steering is full of feedback, the gearbox demands precision, and the minimal cabin connects you directly to the driving experience. It's not about outright speed - it's about pure mechanical engagement and big smiles in a small, spirited package which certainly turns heads.

image

Electrics and Other

All of the switchgear appears to be working correctly. Some of the original switchgear has been replaced over the years, and there is some additional equipment, like a Pioneer head unit, speakers mounted in the centre console, and not forgetting a kettle.

History and Paperwork

Russ wasn’t too fussed about history when he got the car; it was the condition that sold it to him.

Unfortunately, when Russ purchased the car, it came with no history. Over the years, he has saved the invoices for work he has carried out and parts purchased.

Quirky?… yes. Unique?… yes. Can you find another one?.... maybe, but difficult.

We’ve carried out our usual seller checks, including verifying photo ID, the V5C, and an HPI check. This confirms the car has not been stolen, written off, or has any outstanding finance. Please note: This check does not include mileage verification.

We’ve summarised the car based on the seller’s information above. As always, we go to great lengths to photograph and film the car in high-resolution detail, so you can make your own informed assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So grab a cuppa, relax, and enjoy reviewing everything in this listing.

Viewings are welcome for all our listings. Please get in touch to arrange a time – we just need to speak with you first and receive valid photo ID before confirming.

If there’s anything you’re unsure about, no matter how small, please ask the owner in the comments section below before placing your bids, as bids cannot be retracted and form a binding contract if you win – just like in a traditional auction house.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
