Introduction
Glyn Parry
One of the rarest and finest examples of the iconic four-seater coupe that's come to auction in recent years.
When first unleashed in 1969, the Capri almost obliterated the British sports car market in one remarkable stroke. It was sold with multiple options, specs and engines, with the Ford Capri 3000 E billed as the top luxury model. It featured a power bonnet bulge, twin-exhaust outlets and wider wheels in a plush cabin. It was quite a short-lived model, it was replaced by the GXL in 1972, but retains its importance as the best Capri money could buy at the time.
Originally owned by a Ford sales director, this top of the range 1971 Capri 3000 E was bought new as a special order. The car has been converted to a modified mechanical specification by Broadspeed, while the interior was treated to bespoke white leather seats and a full-length Webasto sunroof. Just for good measure, the wheels arches were specially flared to complete the look. The car is well known in Ford Capri circles and has been subject to several magazine articles.
