Introduction

The 2008 Jaguar XJ8 is considered special for several reasons, combining luxury, performance, and timelessly elegant design. For me it sets a statement and has great road presence maintaining sleek designs in every aspect.

There’s nothing I don’t like about the car after owning it for nearly 3 years. Due to a change of circumstances and financial situation with getting a new house I am selling. Otherwise I would like to keep the car for longer. This is my second XJ, after a 2.7 diesel model. It made me fall in love, and I only sold it due to ULEZ.

This 4.2 beast I bought without any issues or hesitation and since then it has been simply the best car I’ve had to date.

An MOT and full health check was recently carried out by His & Hers Land Rover Jaguar specialist, who also confirmed the engine oil is clean, which explains the smooth running of the car. This car was subject to a Category N Write-Off in 2024 - photos and a video of the damage, which has been repaired, are included in this listing to transparency.

Exterior

Honestly, my absolutely favourite thing about my XJ8’s exterior is the sheer presence it commands especially that long, flowing bonnet. Every time I walk up to it there’s this elegant sweep almost like a sculpture in motion.

Wheels and Tyres

The 20 inch Callisto Alloy wheels are just stunning; the kind of detail that quietly tells you this isn’t just any old luxury saloon, it’s something special. The Callisto design is pure elegance and strength rolled into one, they’re got multi spoke pattern that look both delicate and powerful at the same time. The whole car looks like it’s gliding even when it’s just rolling out of a parking space.

When the car is parked, they almost have a sculptural quality, like a piece of art you could just stare at.

Tyres are all x4 Dunlop sport max with 6mm tread in good condition. Some light sign or wear on outer tread surface only due to being parked as only used weekend and special occasions. Drives perfectly fine and handles well.

Bodywork

Bodywork is clean, no sign of any rust, no dents. Recently car has had a slight damage to the front bumper and wing to the near side. Unfortunately, insurance company registered this as a CAT N. Pictures of before and after are attached to show that damage was light and repair was done to a high standard. The video attached actually shows the finish after repair/paint job was complete.

Car has been previously ceramic coated 2 years ago which is still holding up well: on every clean water just simply beads and this keeps the shine on the car gleaming mirror image effect.

Paint

Paint looks great and has an even finish throughout, gloss black with the chrome accents creating a sophisticated ambiance.

Glass and Trim

No chips or cracks on the glass.

Interior

Inside my XJ8, the thing that gets me every single time is the beige leather with the dark piping paired with that rich wood veneer dash. It’s just...pure class.

Seats and Carpets

The beige leather brings this warmth and light into the cabin — it feels open and airy.

It's incredibly luxurious, making you feel special in the front or back. The picnic tables and rear seat entertainment look stunning, and even the climate control can be controlled from the rear seats!

Seats look stunning for the year and age of the car.

It’s been detailed and well maintained as shown on the images.

The carpets are very clean and protected with rubber mats.

Dashboard

The dash board is very clean and tidy.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

All original and in working order.

Mechanics

I love the sound of the V8 4.2 petrol, naturally aspirated - and appreciate its reliability!

No major issues experienced in my ownership

Engine and Gearbox

Original gearbox and smooth. All working and changes gears swiftly.

Suspension and Brakes

Suspension and brakes all in good condition.

The Drive

Starts first time as shown on videos. Drives Amazingly! Smooth sound with no issues always puts a smile on my face and turns heads.

All original electrics. Rear entertainment works well with sound system in working order.

    What is your reserve policy?

    A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

    If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

    Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

    Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

    Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

    Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
