The redesigned XJ - X351, was unveiled at the Saatchi Gallery in 2009. In keeping Ian Callum's new design direction for Jaguar, the car was uplifted with a whole new exterior and interior. The XJ features a new aggressive front grille, and swooping taillights, nicknamed the "cat claws".

This XJ comes equipped with a 3.0L diesel twin-turbocharged Ford AJD V6 which outputs a mighty 271 bhp and is also found in the Range Rover and F-Pace.

We really like this low mileage example, which has been meticulously owned by Roger for the past 5 years.

Roger loves travelling in comfort, he also enjoys getting to locations promptly and that’s why he's enjoyed his ownership of this XJ.

Roger has owned this car for 5 years amongst other cars, and the XJ has been one of his practical favourites. The XJ is the prime minister's car of choice and we can see why, with the ability to travel in comfort, luxury and have pure performance on tap. This particular example comes with the 3L twin-turbocharged V6 which is not only very efficient but also puts up a good fight against all other full-size luxury saloons.

Exterior

Jaguar never fails to create fast and beautiful cars – a large aggressive front grille and swooping cat claws taillights let you know that this car means business.

Wheels and Tyres

The redesigned Jaguar XJ sits on 19” performance alloys that not only look great but give you complete confidence and control on any surface.

Wrapped in Dunlop rubber all round with great tread. We really like the look of these wheels, they are not chipped or curbed and look very clean. Please see a closer view of these wheels in the exterior photos and videos.

Bodywork

The bodywork looks excellent on this meticulously owned example, just what you’d expect for its low mileage and age.

All the panel gaps look tight and correct on this car and no signs of corrosion were observed. Please take a look at the exterior videos to really appricate this car.

Paint

Finished in black, the colour and finish are even across the car. The paint is really deep and we didn’t observe any areas of scratching or chipping - a very clean and tidy example indeed.

The combination with the cream leather interior looks really nice with the black paint, a timeless combination today and we're sure for many years to come. Please view the images and videos to view the paint in more depth and detail.

Glass and Trim

The glass looks great on this example, all original, unchipped and free from discolouration or fogging. We really like the sunroof that matches the rest of the bodywork.

The trim around the car looks great too, if we are being really picky, the brightwork around the windows would benefit from some light polishing – nevertheless, we're really impressed, a lovely example.

Interior

Winning countless awards for their interior, Jaguar has done it again - a compact cockpit which performs well and looks great.

Seats and Carpets

Sit back and relax in these luxurious cream leather seats that look great in this colour combo. Jaguar never fails to produce hard-wearing yet luxurious cabin spaces, and this one is no exception.

The leather seats are in excellent condition front and back, the driver's seat has a few very light creases that would be hardly visible after a deep clean.

The carpets too are in great condition, black all round with deep pile for a luxurious touch and feel. We really are big fans of this XJ interior.

Dashboard

Jaguar has kept up with the times by introducing a modern digital dash. After a few years, digital dashboards can look a little dated but not this one. It's a timeless design that looks very modern.

A large screen is free from scratches and none of the pixels have dropped.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel is wrapped in brown leather that matches the dash, and is in excellent condition with no visible marks.

The automatic gear selector can be found on the centre console, a spinning dial often found in the modern Jaguars. We really like the chrome finish on this car. Additionally, the car features paddle shifters to give you control and quick manual gear changes if you decide to put the car through its paces on a country road.

Mechanics

A revolutionary diesel for the XJ line up. The twin-turbocharged 3.0L takes you from 0-60 in 6.2 seconds - impressive for the luxury saloon market.

Engine and Gearbox

The mighty Ford AJD V6 3.0L turbo-charged engine block powers this luxurious limousine. Also found in the Range Rover and F-Pace. Performance and economy are at your disposal.

As you can see in the paperwork section this car has always been given the attention it deserves with a full service history from Jaguar main dealers.

Roger reports everything is working and mentions the car offers a very swift and comfortable ride. Please view the cold start video, to see Roger starting the car with no issues.

Suspension and Brakes

The XJ features steel coil springs for the front suspension and air suspension for the rear only. Continuously variable damping is controlled through driver-selectable modes.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we were unable to go for a drive with Roger, however, he assures us of a very smooth and comfortable ride. He also mentions that the car stops exactly as it should.

The Drive

Want to travel in style and comfort to your red-carpet film premiere? No problem. Or perhaps you want to race to the Alps for your ski holiday - no issues. The XJ does both without hesitating.

This XJ has been meticulously owned over its relatively short life so far and is a really excellent example for anyone in the market for an X351.

Electrics and Other

This car does not skimp on electrical equipment. Fitted with a Bowers & Wilkins 20-speaker, Dolby 7.1 surround-sound system and bi-directional touch screen satnav, the car is still very modern.

Technology allows the driver to see navigation data while simultaneously the passenger can watch a movie or live TV, clever stuff.

History and Paperwork

A lovely spec, main dealer service history, and low mileage. If you're in the market for an XJ, this has to be one of the nicest ones.

There is a great level of paperwork with this example – main dealer service stamps to be found, MOT documentation as well. Please take a look through the images to see all the original paperwork which comes with the car.

The car has a tracker fitted which can be taken over by the new owner. In addition to this, the car also has "Jaguar Assistance", again the agreement transferrable should the new owner wish to continue payments. The private registration on the car will not be sold, an age appropriate registration will go back on to the car.

Never driven a diesel car before. So just for my knowledge, is there a risk of any problem driving a diesel XJ which has only done 20K in the last 10 yrs? Is the maintenance cost going to be higher for a diesel car?

During my ownership the car has been maintained at Jaguar Main Dealers plus enjoyed full ‘Jaguar Assist’ Warranty.

Understand this cover can be transferred ‘at cost’ (if required) to the new owner.

The low mileage is due to the fact that I also own an XF which I use as a ‘day to day’ vehicle ..
