Introduction

The car came from California in the '90s, and has had the chrome bumper and left-hand to right-hand drive conversions done. Further, it has had the fantastic Rover SD1 3.5 V8 engine put in. In Damask Red with Biscuit colour interior, it's a head turner!

I’ve owned the car for a year, and now want another classic car so am selling this one. I’ve just put 2 new stainless steel exhaust manifolds on, as well as a new battery and alternator. The car has good suspension - Bilstein shocks with stiffer springs. It has been to lots of car shows and even won a prize.

There is the odd stone chip, but nothing bad and no rust - coming from the sunshine state. There’s some peeling on the chrome on two of the wheel spinners, but not major. I have a bit of paperwork dated back from the late eighties (very nice car indeed). As you can see from the pics, it is a great car bit is not concourse. It’s a great looking and solid car.

Exterior

The deep red exterior and biscuit-coloured interior look very nice together, with the chrome accents making this a lovely looking classic.

Wheels and Tyres

Tyres are good with lots of tread, and are mounted on beautiful Minilite wheels.

Bodywork

Body work is good with some stone chips, but not bad at all.

The chrome is excellent, and much better than the rubber bumpers it replaced.

Paint

Paint is all good with some stone chips, but nothing serious.

Glass and Trim

Glass and trim are all good and the hood is in good condition too. This is an all round great classic MGB V8!

Interior

The biscuit-coloured interior with leather seats is complemented by new red seatbelts.

Seats and Carpets

Leather seats are all good, and the carpet is not bad - there's one bit on passenger side coming away a bit but not badly.

Dashboard

Wood dash is all good, and every dial and switch works.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Moto Lita steering wheel and wooden gear knob are in good condition as pictured.

Mechanics

The mechanics are good, with everything working as it should.

Engine and Gearbox

Engine is great, and fast for a 70s car with that V8!

The gearbox is good as well.

Suspension and Brakes

Bilstein shocks and stiffer springs are all good.

The Drive

Great to drive, gets lots of attention.

Electrics and Other

All electrics work fine and I just put a new 70w alternator on.

History and Paperwork

Lots of paper work going back to the 80s - I even have the paper work on how the engine was put in.

Some service history, but not a lot. No MOT or tax required.

Lots of invoices and receipts.

Things that come with the car: spare fuel pump and alternator.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
