Introduction

Paul Wright
Professional Consigner

A timeless design, engaging driving dynamics, and iconic Porsche performance with that all important manual gearbox.

Referred to as the 964 series, it was a natural evolution over its predecessor and, despite similar visual cues, it was a considerable update that combined the character of the original with a modernised '90s acceptability. This included the shift to coil springs and the notable addition of ABS.

The car's main feature, aside from the all-new bodywork and overhauled interior, was the new air-cooled engines. As a result, it’s often said that the 964 offers the perfect compromise between old and new Porsche. However, all models are great to drive and boast the classic styling, which is why the demand for these cars becomes stronger with each passing year.

This lovely original example comes from a 20+ year family ownership - the car was passed down to Danielle form her father around eight years ago, and the time has now come for her to part with the car.

The car comes with invoices and previous MOT certificates, along with a fresh MOT valid until 15.04.2026.

This listing was written from information supplied by Paul after meeting Danielle the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

The Porsche has a huge sentimental attachment, which has taken a while to break.

Danielle’s father purchased the 911 over 20 years ago and enjoyed the car immensely.

As mentioned, it was left to Danielle approximately eight years ago and she used to drive the car initially for a couple of years as a weekend car. Unfortunately, over the past few years, it has been in dry storage, not being used as much as it deserves, which has led to the difficult decision to part with the sentimental Porsche 911.

Danielle will be happy to answer any questions in the comment section below.

Exterior

Blending timeless, muscular curves with a refined, understated elegance, capturing the essence of iconic 911 design.

Wheels and Tyres

The original style Porsche Cup alloy wheels are in good order with just a few minor marks. The coloured Porsche centre cap crests are in good condition, and the tyres all have a good amount of tread remaining.

Please see the image gallery for detailed shots.

image

Bodywork

The Porsche’s bodywork is in original condition, which is certainly rare to see ~35 years on. The panel gaps are visually even and matching, and the doors, bonnet, and engine cover open and close nicely. There are a couple of dings that we need to mention. One is on the nearside quarter panel, which could possibly be removed by a specialist, and the other is on the roof where something fell off a shelf several years ago and unfortunately caused a dent. There is also some corrosion on the bottom edge of the rear screen.

However, despite the imperfections, please remember the car is original, hiding nothing, and does present very well with minimal signs of corrosion.

High-resolution images and videos have been provided, so please review all media to assess the car’s condition thoroughly.

image

Paint

Finished in the original colour, 'Grand Prix White', the paintwork presents very well. Stone chips are minimal, and there are a few chips on the door edge gathered over time, but in general, the original paintwork is in very good condition.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there yourself. So please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car, to make up your own mind about the condition of the paint.

image

Glass and Trim

The windscreen is in good condition, as are the side and rear windows. The front and rear seals are in good order with no perishing noticed. We did notice some shrinkage to the door window seals, which you would expect for a car of this age.

The headlights and indicators are in good order. At the rear, the Porsche reflector has crazed along the edges, as have the light lenses, and one does have a split, but this doesn’t emit any white light.

image

Interior

Rev counter in the centre, like a true driver-focused driving machine – exactly what this is in manual configuration!

Seats and Carpets

The original leather seats are in very good condition; as you'd expect there is some slight colour wear to the driver’s bolster, but other than that, the seats are excellent in the front and rear.

Throughout the car, the carpets show minimal signs of age. The passenger side does have a rubber mat, which is stuck to the carpet.

Inside the trunk, the carpet is in the same condition, with the spare wheel and jack in place along with the original tool kit.

image

Dashboard

Free from damage, the dashboard is in excellent condition.

All of the instruments are working as they should, and the odometer has a reading of ~100,587 miles.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The leather three-spoke steering wheel has a small amount of patina in keeping with the age and mileage of the 911, and the gear knob is in the same condition.

Please refer to the interior gallery for more images and to make up your own minds.

image

Mechanics

3.6-litres of flat-six precision German engineering delivers approximately ~247bhp.

Engine and Gearbox

Ignition… and fire… the flat six bursts into life without hesitation, and the distinct air-cooled tone that we all know and love sounds amazing.

The car runs superbly with no issues reported.

Fitted with a five-speed gearbox, the change is smooth and precise, and the 911 pulls strongly through the entire range.

image

Suspension and Brakes

Recently, the car was fitted with new rear Bilstein dampers, so it handles excellently, feeling very planted on the road with no knocks or bangs coming from the suspension.

The brakes bring the car to a stop in a straight line with no issues or juddering through the pedal reported.

image

The Drive

Behind the wheel of the Porsche 911 Carrera 2, you're treated to a pure, analogue driving experience that defines the appeal of air-cooled 911s. Powered by a 3.6-litre flat-six engine and paired with the crisp five-speed manual gearbox, it delivers lively performance with a distinctive exhaust note that stirs the senses.

The rear-wheel-drive layout and unassisted steering offer razor-sharp feedback and a real connection to the road.

Please watch the On the Road video to see it being driven around the local area.

image

Electrics and Other

Inside the Porsche, the switchgear is in excellent condition with no real signs of age or wear to the buttons.

In keeping with its originality is the original Blaupunkt Toronto radio cassette.

History and Paperwork

Lots of originality comes in the 911’s history file - a fantastic opportunity.

The Porsche’s history file dates back several years, with a collection of invoices gathered over the years and a large selection of previous MOT certificates and tax discs.

A very original car - there are a few minor imperfections on the cosmetic side, but when you look around the car, you will realise that for its age, it is in remarkably good order thanks to dry storage and careful ownership.

A fantastic opportunity to become the proud owner of the legendary 964 Porsche in manual form.

We've carried out our usual seller checks, including verifying photo ID, the V5C, and running an HPI check. This confirms the car has not been stolen, written off, or has any outstanding finance. Please note: this check does not include mileage verification.

We’ve summarised the car based on the seller’s information above. As always, we go to great lengths to photograph and film the car in high-resolution detail so you can make your own informed assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So grab a cuppa, relax, and enjoy reviewing everything in this listing.

Viewings are welcome for all our listings. Please get in touch to arrange a time—we just need to speak with you first and receive valid photo ID before confirming.

If there’s anything you’re unsure about, no matter how small, please ask the owner in the comments section below before placing your bids, as bids cannot be retracted and form a binding contract if you win—just like in a traditional auction house.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
