The 997 Carrera S is a big step up over previous models, bringing to the table a wider stance and ~350bhp from its 3.8L flat-six engine.
Porsche are world renowned for engineering top of the range sports cars with blisteringly quick performance and undeniable build quality, with the 997 Carrera S being no different. Packing a 3.8L flat six engine, ~350bhp delivered to the rear wheels via 6 speed manual gearbox, and all the luxury and commodity we’ve come to expect from Porsches over the years, the 997 Carrera S provides a brilliant, well rounded, and invigorating experience for the driver.
This particular example comes to us in the care of Caroline, who is sadly selling the car as part of her brother’s estate. This is a well spec'd car from new with options including, Bose sounds, sunroof, Sports Chrono pack, white clocks and memory / heated seats. The car has recently had a £7,000 engine rebuild, and is still in the "running in" 1,000 miles phase from the work.
This auction listing was written from information supplied by Isaac after meeting Caroline the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Hi everyone, I’ve investigated the exhausts – one is 0.5 inch lower than the other. I spoke to Cavendish Porsche who said it requires a new bracket to hold it in position – it’s a relatively cheap fix so I’m prepared to get this done before the sale. Any questions, let me know. cheers, Caroline
Hello Caroline, do you have any information from Cavendish about the state of the cylinders and whether they have been relined and if so what type of liner has been used. Separately please can trade classics upload a recent photo of the rear to ensure the dropped exhaust has been resolved as you mention these photos are from prior to the rebuild work. My thanks.
Hi, I’ve emailed Simon from Cavendish Porsche with your questions and will post his response. He’s also happy to chat to potential buyers as he knows the car well.
Hi, Cavendish said the following re the cylinders “The liners have been replaced with steel ones , not sure of the manufacturer as they had been replaced by your brother , before we replaced the piston we had the liners measured by the mechanical engineers that we use and the were 100% within the required tolerances.”
Hi, may I ask to confirm from looking at the history, there are 2 x 7k bills from Cavendish for last year? The first indicates the engine was recently rebuilt, was this a home rebuild or done by another garage? It looks like the subsequent 7k bill would then indicate a further rebuild by Cavendish, presumably at this point the car was not running correctly?
Also, someone asked about the front bonnet and paintwork, there is a pic of a bill which indicates the front bonnet and both front wings were painted and blended.
Thanks
Hi, Yes, there are two big build invoices – the first was to get the car up and running and through an MOT, it wasn’t running and was in pieces when it became part of the estate. The second was on something more specific – a broken piston ring – we found the car was consuming lots of oil, and on investigation that’s what we found.
As previously mentioned, I don’t know anything about the paintwork, I’m afraid.
Hello. It looks in the photos and video as though the front bumper is a different shade to the bonnet and wings (see photo 53 onwards) – do you know why this is?
I’m also curious about the exhaust hanging lower on the passenger side if you could shed any light on that – normally this would indicate engine mounts but I’d expect them to have been done with the rebuild?
Thanks
There has been no paint work / touch up done as far as we know. Any work would pre- date my brother’s ownership.
Also, as mentioned below, the pictures were taken before the re-build so the exhausts may have been rectified.
Why is the passenger side exhaust hanging lower than the drivers side?
Hi, the pictures were taken before the engine re-build. I’ll check to see if this was rectified during the work.
Hello,
Is the round cover for the towing hitch (by the front number plate) missing?
Many thanks.
Yes, the towing hitch cover was the one thing we couldn’t find. However, this is an easy replacement.
The Porsche is variously described as ‘automatic’ and ‘manual’. Which is it please.
Thank you.
Hi,
Apologies, a small error on our part, one mention of automatic which has been changed to manual. As you’ll see in the pictures, the car is clearly a manual.
Best,
