Introduction

This is my correctly-registered Burlington Arrow, built on a triumph GT6 chassis with a 2.0lt engine. It's fitted with oil cooler and power brakes, as well as a tow bar. I have the original hood, which needs replacing as age has caught up with it.

I’ve owned the car for about 5 years, but a loss of garage space has forced the sale of this great little car. There’s always more that can be done to a car like this, so it’s a great running restoration and a great source of entertainment if you want a hobby.

Market Auction

Stephen, the seller, has created this listing themselves using our free Market Auction tool. Unlike our Curated Auctions, we haven’t photographed the car or written the listing, however we have completed 3 important security checks for your peace of mind.

V5C Checked

Stephen provided a copy of the V5C logbook, which we verified against his photo ID for name and address confirmation.

ID Checked

Stephen provided his photo ID, which we verified against the name and address on the V5C logbook.

History Checked

History check actioned using HPi, the industry’s top verification service, for finance, write-offs, and stolen records.

Exterior

A great conversation piece and you always drive with a smile: both kids and their parents all wave and shout as it passes!

Wheels and Tyres

Spoked wheels (not chrome) and tyres are old but fit for purpose. Authentic hub centre spinners are fitted all round.

Bodywork

The body is painted on the front and vinyl covered on the back, and is in good condition.

Paint

The paint is Jaguar Burgundy Red on the aluminium panels and black vinyl over the rear - which is made of plywood covered in aluminium sheets.

Glass and Trim

The windscreen is toughened glass and in good order.

The side screens are plastic and not in good condition, but along with the roof are not used, as it is almost impossible to get in or out with the roof in place.

If I were keeping the car, I would fit a tonneau cover and avoid the rain.

Interior

The seat bases are solid but the cushions are split as the obvious way to get in the car is to stand on the seat and slide down into the cockpit.

The wiring behind the dash needs tidying but is functional.

Seats and Carpets

The remainder of the interior is in usable condition.

Dashboard

Dash board is a solid piece of oak and can be removed without too much hassle if needed.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Steering wheel and gear stick are original.

Mechanics

Mechanically the car is in good order, no signs of rot or rust, recently painted.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine has been overhauled with a number of new parts. An oil cooler has been fitted but the engine has never reached a temperature hot enough to open the seal.

The gear box changes up and down with no issues.

Suspension and Brakes

The suspension and brakes have been overhauled and some parts renewed.

A remote vacuum break chamber has also been added and works very well.

The Drive

It starts well with a little choke when cold and once warm it runs very well with a good turn of speed and reliability.

Electrics and Other

The cars wiring is probably original and has been altered over the years. The car now is fitted with an alternator rather than the original dynamo making a vast improvement to the charging system and output.

History and Paperwork

No service history is available for the car, but a lot of receipts are present which gives a good idea of the work carried out.

The car is tax and MOT exempt, but has been through an MOT inspection to ensure that it’s safe and complies with test standards.
There are invoices and receipts for a lot of new parts fitted.
Included in the sale will be the original hood frame, covers and side screens which will be helpful as patterns to make replacements.

From Trade Classics:

This is a Market Auction listing, meaning we have not visited and photographed the car - instead the seller has supplied the images and written the description. However we’ve done all our usual seller checks, including photo ID that matches the V5, and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPi that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

Viewings are welcomed, so please get in touch with us via the 'contact us' page - we just need to speak to you first on the phone, have you register on the site, and also send in valid photo ID before confirming a suitable time to visit.

Like all our auctions, if there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - the Buyer's Premium is not refundable in any instance, just like a traditional auction house.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
