Introduction

Paul Wright

Carbon fibre body, 183 mph, the second generation Aston Martin Vanquish is nothing short of amazing.

Project AM310 Concept was unveiled at the 2012 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, which was held on the beautiful shores of Lake Como, Italy. The styling was an evolution of the DBS, but with some subtle tweaks such as the familiar grille, which has been trimmed down, and the bonnet has a more pronounced bulge with two vents aiding the cooling of the V12. There is an integrated spoiler built into the carbon fibre boot lid.

The engine hasn't been left untouched, with the new Aston using an upgraded version of the old AM11 V12 engine, now called the AM28, and producing 565 bhp at 6,750 rpm. The engine is front mounted and the transmission to the rear, to give the car an excellent 51/49 weight distribution.

This 2013 model uses the six-speed Touchtronic automatic gearbox, which can also be changed using the paddle shift on the steering wheel. Further helping the handling is the three stage adaptive damping system, which features normal, sports and track settings. Bringing this weapon to a halt are the huge dinner plate size 398 mm carbon-ceramic discs, with six-piston calipers, ensuring it stops quickly.

Bringing all these upgrades together has formed the amazing second generation Aston Martin Vanquish. Matthew has covered just ~25,888 miles in his 8 year ownership, with the bulk of those in the first 3 years. Since 2016, just ~5,000 miles have been accumulated. With little use, Matthew has decided to let someone else have the pleasure of owning this British supercar. The car has just had a fresh service this week by the main dealer Stratstone Aston Martin Wilmslow along with a fresh MOT too.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Paul after meeting Matthew the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I loved the Vanquish as soon as I saw it - in 2013, I was lucky enough to become an owner of one.

Matthew purchased this stunning Madagascar Orange Aston Martin Vanquish in 2013. Ordered new and to the specification he wanted, the Aston has been well cared for by a true enthusiastic owner.

The car has been used and enjoyed with regular servicing, ensuring it has wanted for nothing. With Matthew owning a few vehicles in his collection, a shuffle about is on the cards, which has meant the 8 year relationship with the Aston is coming to an end.

Exterior

The Aston’s Madagascar Orange is one thing that makes it stand out from the rest - this, together with the contrasting carbon fibre, makes it a stunning car to look at.

Wheels and Tyres

The wheels are all in excellent condition with no damage that we could see at the time of our visit.

The tyres are all matching and look to be approximately 50% of tread left.

Bodywork

The bodywork for the Aston is all carbon fibre, with the roof showing off this special material to its full extent. There are carbon fibre sections on the bumpers and mirrors, all which look to be in excellent condition with no damage or chips.

As you would expect, the panel gaps look to be just as Aston Martin intended and opening the boot and the bonnet, you can appreciate the lightness of the carbon fibre.

Please see the gallery for more detailed images.

Paint

Madagascar Orange was the colour choice by Matthew when he placed the order for his 2013 Vanquish, and what a fantastic choice it is - we are sure you will agree. It is nothing short of spectacular and even better in real life. Forget the drab and boring colours usually found, this is the one to have, especially on such a special car.

The paintwork is in excellent condition, and there is only one tiny noticeable chip to the driver’s door (easy to remedy), and one or two small chips to the bottom of the wheel arches. Other than that, there is nothing to report - this car has really been well cared for.

Please see the image gallery for more detailed shots.

Glass and Trim

The glass is all in excellent condition, with no obvious scratches or chips which we could see at the time of our visit. The trims and seals are all as you would expect.

Carbon trim appears everywhere on the car, with the door handles, mirrors, side strakes on the wings and a splitter to the front bumper - all of which look in fantastic condition with no chips or cracks.

Interior

An abundance of cream leather with dark orange stitching - offering a place of luxury and comfort in the cabin of the Vanquish.

Seats and Carpets

The seats in the Vanquish are in good order, with cream leather and dark orange stitching, together with the embroidered Aston Martin logo in the headrests; you can tell the car is something special.

There is some very slight wear to the edge of the driver’s side bolster where the colour has come off a little, but this looks to be quite an easy repair with some of the products that are available to recolour leather.

The carpets are all nice and clean with no wear to be seen, other than a few light scuffs to the heel pad, which is to be expected. Inside the boot, again the carpet is generally clean with just a couple of marks which would probably come out with some upholstery cleaner.

Dashboard

The dashboard is finished to the top with back leather, and cream to the lower section, which is all in excellent order. The lower section has a couple of scuff marks just above the pedals, but this looks like it would clean up nicely.

The instrument binnacle lights up as it should, with no warning lights displayed. The odometer has a reading of ~25,888 miles at the time of our visit. Turn on the stereo and the Bang and Olufsen speakers rise up out of the dashboard (just one of the Vanquish’s many nice touches).

Please see the interior gallery for more detailed shots.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel is in good condition with no signs of excessive wear. Some nice buttons are present on the steering wheel, which are the S (sport button), and opposite, the suspension damper button for the adaptive suspension settings, making the car suitable for fast road use or to stiffen it up again for track use.

The gear levers are a paddle shift to the rear of the steering wheel.

Mechanics

6.0 litre V12 and 565 horses propel this stunning carbon fibre bodied Vanquish along, to a top speed of 183 mph.

Engine and Gearbox

The 6.0 litre V12 produces 565 bhp and 457 lb-ft of torque, and is capable of 0-62 mph in just 4.1 seconds.

Push the key key fob in, and the Aston’s V12 growls into life, and, as you can imagine, it sounds absolutely fantastic.

The car is reported to drive really well and changes through the six-speed Touchtronic automatic gearbox just as it should, as you would expect with just ~25,888 miles on.

Suspension and Brakes

The car sits well and looks like a supercar before you even drive it. The Vanquish is reported to handle beautifully, and even more so when you alter adaptive suspension, although the track setting may be a little stiff for use on our roads.

Bringing the Vanquish to a stop are the carbon ceramic drilled discs, that look to be in good condition with no lip showing to the edges.

The Drive

Hearing it before you see it, and then when you do see it you will be doing a double take, the Aston Martin’s colour is truly stunning, and once in the sun it comes into its own again, as it just pops from every contour of the carbon body. It really is a head turner.

Enormous fun to drive and will give you the grin factor every time you sit in it, let alone drive it.

Electrics and Other

Everything in the car is reported to be working just as it should. The display raises up to show the different settings, which are navigated by the main button in the center of the dash.

More carbon fibre finishes off the middle panel of the dashboard, where the main buttons and controls are located. All of this is in excellent order with no wear to be seen.

History and Paperwork

Well serviced and just ~25,888 miles on the clock - the Vanquish has been well cared for by Matthew.

The car has been regularly serviced with the invoices to prove. The dealer has not stamped the service booklet which is usual these days as the servicing is held electronically. However, they should be willing to do this if you ask, as the car will be logged on their system as having had the services completed.

A fresh service by the main dealer Stratstone Aston Martin Wilmslow has just been actioned, along with a new MOT. You will see from the MOT history that in the past few years the car has only been covering ~800 and ~1,000 miles a year, which is another reason for the sale.

The reserve on this car makes it the lowest price Vanquish on the market today, considering the specification and mileage. Meaning it could be the smartest buy for a Vanquish hunter - there really is no need to pay retail dealers their margin when you stand a chance of winning this car here. Also, right now we don't know of another similar car in Madagascar Orange for sale - this car is meant to stand out from the crowd, so don't let it get away from you.

Please note, the personalised registration plate will be removed from the car.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and the vehicle is HPI clear.
