2004 Aston Martin DB9

Premium Classified Sale

Introduction

Alan Stuart
Professional Consigner

The Aston Martin DB9 is widely regarded as one of the finest luxury grand tourers of its era.

The DB9, a highly desirable grand tourer, was produced for ~12 years from 2004 to 2016, and was hand-assembled in Warwickshire. Originally designed by Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker, both of whom are renowned for their work on the Escort Cosworth, RS200, BMW Z8, and many other iconic vehicles, the DB9 featured a much sharper design than its predecessor, the DB7. It was equipped with the "6.0L" V12 engine from the Vanquish, had an aluminium construction, and offered outstanding performance. The DB9 was the first model to be built at Aston Martin's Gaydon facility in Warwickshire and received an excellent reception from the press upon its launch.

This DB9 comes to market from ~1 year of ownership with our vendor, it has modest mileage, a well-maintained service record, and arguably the right colour and trim combination. We think it is an attractive purchase for any enthusiast or someone seeking to experience luxury British motoring, and it comes with a current MOT valid until 20.04.2025, and 16 main dealer service stamps.

This listing was written from information supplied by Alan after meeting Jamie the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Exterior

Despite the DB9’s design being around 20 years old, it remains a fantastic-looking car that still holds its own today.

Wheels and Tyres

The factory ten-spoke 19” alloy wheels look good, and just show some curbing marks and a small amount of blistering on the back of some spokes. These look like they could be freshened up to match the positive presentation of the rest of the exterior.

The Bridgestone tyres look in good condition with plenty of tread remaining as pictured. Please refer to the image gallery for a closer look at the wheels.

Bodywork

The bodywork of the DB9 is in excellent condition, we didn't notice any dings or dents. All the panels appear to align well, with consistent gaps. We also didn't notice any blistering that you often see on these Aluminium bodied cars in areas like the handles or around the windows.

We’ve highlighted our observations in more detail through high-resolution images and videos, so please take the time to review all the media files for a detailed view of the car’s condition.

Paint

Finished in "Oyster Silver", the paintwork presents very well, with minimal stone chips noted across the bumper. Some paintwork was carried out in the past by a previous owner, reportedly on the boot lid.

The images show the car from various angles as you would see it in person. Please review these high-resolution images and videos to form your own opinion on the paint’s condition.

Glass and Trim

All the windows are in good order, with no noticeable scratches, and the seals are also in excellent condition.

The front and rear headlights have no discolouration or damage to the plastic lenses and are working correctly.

Interior

With full black leather, piano black trim and a driver-focused cockpit, the DB9 is a very smart and pleasant place to be.

Seats and Carpets

The black leather electric and heated seats are in excellent condition, with only the slightest wear on the driver’s bolster. Both door cards are in good condition with no damage. The carpets throughout are clean and in good condition, with no signs of excessive wear.

Please see the interior gallery for more detailed images.

Dashboard

The leather covered dashboard is in good condition with no scuffs or damage and is finished with piano black trim, which is also free from excessive scratches. The instruments are functioning correctly, with no warning lights displayed when the engine is running. The odometer reads approximately 59,309 miles at the time of our visit.

Please see the interior gallery for more high-resolution images.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The original steering wheel is in good condition with no signs of excessive use. The paddle shifters are working correctly, enhancing the driving experience.

Please see the interior gallery for more detailed images.

Mechanics

It features a 6.0-litre V12 engine that creates an amazing soundtrack.

Engine and Gearbox

The "6.0-litre" V12 starts without hesitation and sounds fantastic. No issues were reported during operation. The DB9 also passed the tick test, which can be heard in our on-the-road video.

The gearbox changes smoothly, and the Aston pulls strongly through the gears. Watch the "On The Road" video to see and hear the car in action for yourself.

Suspension and Brakes

New front discs and pads were fitted in May 2023. The car stops in a straight line with no problems.

The suspension appears to be in good order; there were no knocks or bangs during our test drive, and the car handles well on the road.

The Drive

On the road, the Aston Martin DB9 is a superb car to experience. It combines luxury with outstanding performance and handling. The unique growl of the V12 engine certainly attracts attention as you shift through the gears.

With its breathtaking design, the DB9 deserves every admiring glance it receives.

Electrics and Other

The switchgear is in good condition, including the stereo buttons, which are prone to showing some wear.

The satellite navigation system works, but as with many cars of this age, the maps are not up to date.

History and Paperwork

Coming to market from ~1 year ownership, the service book is stamped 17 times, a well presented example coming with book pack and keys in a smart colourway.

The owner's manual/service book is included with 16/17 stamps being from main dealers, along with a selection of Aston Martin dealer invoices for work carried out and parts purchased over the years. This is a lovely example of an Aston Martin DB9 with a great service history and low/modest mileage. The colour and trim specification are among the most desirable, making this 2004 example an excellent choice for anyone looking to own an Aston Martin DB9. The car comes to market after ~1 year of with its current owner, has two sets of keys and a current MOT, valid until 20.04.2025.

We’ve conducted all our usual seller checks, including photo ID, V5, and an HPI check on the vehicle.

We have summarised our view of the car based on information provided by the seller in the listing above. However, as you can see, we make extensive efforts to photograph and video the car in high-resolution detail. This allows you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your home. Please take your time to review everything in this listing to evaluate the vehicle’s condition. Viewings are also welcome with all our listings, so please contact us to arrange a suitable time—we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If you have any questions, no matter how small, please ask the owner in the comments section below before placing your bids, as bids cannot be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car—just like in a traditional auction house.
