Introduction
Dom Ginn
A sleek feline on four wheels, purring with power and elegance, ready to turn heads with every open-air drive.
Project X100 was launched at the Geneva Motor Show on 5th March 1996. Project X100 was the name used for the now more commonly known Jaguar XK8. The new model brought brand new standards to the luxury car market. Available as either a coupe or convertible, the sales expectations were exceeded by far, and the XK8 became the fastest-selling sports car in Jaguar’s history.
The engine choice for the new 2+2 grand tourer was Jaguar’s new 4.0-litre V8 engine, which produced an impressive ~290bhp and ~290lb-ft. Unfortunately, no manual transmission was available in the Jaguar XK8. Instead, it was fitted with an all-new 5-speed electronic automatic transmission, featuring normal and sport modes.
In 1998, the more powerful supercharged XKR joined the XK8. With ~370bhp on tap, the monster featured an Eaton supercharger and a new intercooler. In addition, there were a couple of telltale signs that something extra was packed under the bonnet, such as the louvres in the bonnet to improve airflow, the mesh grille, and the rear spoiler.
Coming to market from ~18 months ownership with our vendor, this 2001 grand tourer XKR ticks all the necessary boxes - the right colour/interior combination, well maintained, 4.0-litre supercharged V8 and low mileage - it comes with a fresh MOT valid until 19.02.2026.

Is there a reserve on the car
Hi,
Yes there is a reserve, we can’t divulge it however.
Thanks,
Colin.
Hello Terry, the car looks great. The nose cone in the photos looks a different shade of colour to the bonnet. Has it been replaced or resprayed or is it just the angle of the photo? Thanks Ken
Hi Ken,
Terry asked me to pass on his response:
“Hi Ken. Thanks for your interest in my XKR.
I certainly have not had any paintwork done and there are no (paint) invoices and in “real life”, It looks original IMO.so I think it’s just the way the light struck it when photographed.
I have looked at the photos again and can see what you refer too but be it is definitely a combination of the subtle curves/shape of the nose cone and the light.
Terry”
Hi, the service history is showing that it has not been serviced for 5 years. Is this correct?
Hi,
Terry asked me to pass on his reply:
“It’s done very little mileage since but I would have a new full service before collection.
(A little sweetener/ deal closure)?
Terry.”
Hi Terry, lovely car.
Have the cam chain and tensioners been replaced at any point? Also, is there rust on the sills?
Thank you.
Hi,
Terry has asked me to pass on his answer:
“No rust on Cills no paintwork either.
Re timing chain. Colin @ Trade Classics has all the history that I have had
I have copied this mail to him and asked him to check historical records and advise.
Regards
Terry”
I have had a look through the paperwork and can see only one mention of a belt in one invoice:
https://www.tradeclassics.com/auctions/jaguar/2001-jaguar-xkr/#gallery5-47
belt-drive near the bottom, from 09/09/2005 at 23,464 miles. Not sure if this is cambelt.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Colin.
Please confirm original registration number.
Hi,
Sorry for the late reply.
The age relevant plate for the car is X503 NLB.
Thanks,
Colin.
Hi Terry,
Wishing you the best of British here.
I see that some XKRs are ULEZ compliant but from the number plate you’ve provided below it does appear that your XKR falls foul of the ULEZ £12.50 daily charge when inside the M25. Can you confirm?
Thanks
Hi,
Sorry for the later reply Terry has asked me to pass on his answer:
“The car does not comply with Ulez.
Terry”
Thanks,
Colin.
