Introduction
Dom Ginn
Blending timeless Jaguar elegance with enhanced performance and Beacham refinement - a truly special classic sports saloon.
The Jaguar MKII Beacham represents a unique blend of classic British motoring heritage and expertly engineered refinement. Originally regarded as one of the finest sports saloons of its era, the Jaguar MKII became famous for its elegant styling, luxurious wood-and-leather interior.
With its powerful 3.8-litre engine - the most potent version offered - the Jaguar MKII 3.8 perfectly blended speed, comfort, and handling, earning a reputation as a favourite among enthusiasts, racing drivers, and even the British police during the 1960s.
This particular car is arguably the most significant Beacham MKII in the UK - understood to be the first UK-ordered Beacham MKII for UK delivery after being commissioned at the 1989 British Motor Show / NEC, with matching-numbers confirmation, original Beacham-era paint and chrome, period magazine coverage, Greg Beacham correspondence, VHS build footage and recent £11k+ CMC recommissioning.
The car has been enhanced by Beacham, the renowned New Zealand based specialist known for re-engineering classic Jaguars to deliver improved reliability, drivability, and modern usability while carefully preserving their original character. Beacham conversions are highly respected for retaining the soul and charm of the MKII, but elevating the driving experience to something far more refined and confidence inspiring.
This Beacham car combines the ultimate original MKII specification i.e. 3.8-litre engine, manual gearbox and overdrive, with matching-numbers confirmation, extraordinary Beacham provenance, extensive period documentation, contemporary magazine coverage, original Beacham correspondence, photographic build material and even a VHS video of the car’s build.
Coming from almost four years with our vendor, this is not simply a restored MKII, nor is it a modernised restomod that has lost the spirit of the original car. It is a beautifully judged, period-built Beacham Jaguar: a car created to retain the grace, cabin atmosphere and visual integrity of a classic MKII, while discreetly improving the areas where the factory car could be made more usable, more precise and more reliable.

Good morning Mark. Unfortunately, I’m away this Friday, I can do Saturday but only up to 10 am, and then any time Sunday. I’m also fairly flexible next week. Can you please get in touch with the Trade Classics guys to arrange. Many thanks, Tim.
Hi again Tim
Would you be around this coming Friday maybe around 1pm ? Obviously we will have to play it by ear regarding the weather ! Just wanted to reach out to you before requesting a viewing with Car & Classic . Regards Mark.
Hi,
CMC initially issued a number of staged estimates as they inspected and diagnosed the car. I authorised the recommended work, and the consolidated CMC Service Proforma / Job 3713.01 for £11,102.43 is the document reflecting the final programme that was carried out and paid for. This included the MOT/recommissioning work, full service, PAS/steering work, fuel leak work, rear half-shaft seals, rear diff pinion seal, brake investigation and rectification including rear caliper pistons, rear discs/pads and handbrake pads, front wheel-bearing work, dyno/carburettor set-up, air-con service, electrical checks, Bluetooth/DSP/Focal audio upgrade, rear seatbelts and final road testing. The earlier estimates should be read as the staged proposed scopes leading up to the final consolidated CMC proforma, not as additional invoices on top.
Due to my surgery, I have done less than 1000 miles in this car during the time I’ve owned it. Throughout, it’s been kept on a battery charger (it’s just had a brand-new battery fitted) in my insulated and dehumidifier garage. The highly skilled classic car mechanic that looks after my collection performs six monthly inspections and we have changed fluids accordingly if/where necessary – the car has been taken out fairly regularly for short local runs. Prior to consigning this Car to auction, it was taken out for a thorough rundown and everything checked. It is in a ready to drive condition, and should be considered fully serviced. You will note from the work that CMC did this was a numberplate to numberplate recommissioning. I hope this helps, and you are more than welcome to come and view the car in person. Tim
1.Whilst a proforma invoice and several estimates have been supplied that does not indicate that any of the recommended work was actually carried out. Is there an invoice for the work.?
2.How many services has this car had in the last 10 years and at what mileages/
Many thanks.
Thank you for your message. If you look at picture 21 of the 90 pictures of paperwork, you’ll see it’s confirmed as an All Synchro Gearbox with a Type ‘A” Compact Overdrive. Tim
Has the gearbox been upgraded and is it now syncromeshed
That’s no problem at all Mark. I’m really quite flexible, so if you get in touch with the Trade Classics team with some dates/times that suit you then they’ll get in contact with me and we can arrange a viewing. Many thanks, Tim
Hi, would be good to come and view the car ! When would be a convenient day and time ? Regards Mark.
