Introduction
Paul Wright
Essentially a street-legal go-kart wrapped in fibreglass.
The Series 1 Elan was launched in 1962. Designed by Ron Hickman under the Colin Chapman ethos, from the beginning, the Elan was quite advanced for the time, with a twin-cam 1,558 cc engine, four-wheel disc brakes and independent suspension. There were many revisions, running up to the 1968 Series 4. All the Series were available as either a standard version or the slightly more powerful and luxurious SE model, with SE meaning Special Equipment.
This car is an S4, coming to market from ~three and a half years of ownership. A drop-head coupé believed to be in its original colour of "Lotus Yellow", the car was restored by a former keeper; the owner before Derek used the car very little, as it was part of a large collection.
This listing was written from information supplied by Paul after meeting Derek the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Ask Owner
Hello do you have any details on the chassis?
Unfortunately not, I bought the Elan off this auction and put it in the barn, starting it regularly to keep the engine oiled sometimes going along our drive but never got around to doing what I originally intended through lack of time. However you are most welcome to view through Trade Classics procedure.
