Introduction
Dom Ginn
A highly usable example of Porsche’s final air-cooled 911 generation, combining the distinctive 993 silhouette with an innovative electrically operated glass Targa roof.
Introduced for the 1994 model year, the 993 represented a substantial evolution of the 911. Its smoother bodywork, wider and flatter front wings and redesigned multi-link rear suspension improved both its appearance and driving characteristics.
The 993 was also the final generation of the Porsche 911 to use an air-cooled engine, making it especially significant among enthusiasts and collectors.
The Targa returned for the 1996 model year with a completely new roof design. Rather than using the removable panel and prominent roll-over bar associated with earlier versions, Porsche installed a large tinted-glass roof that retracts electrically beneath the rear window. This provides a much more open cabin while preserving the familiar coupé roofline.
Power comes from Porsche’s naturally aspirated 3.6-litre flat-six engine, producing 285PS in model-year 1996 specification. This example is equipped with the optional four-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission, allowing relaxed automatic progress or greater driver involvement through its manual-selection function.

Hi, lovely car. 1. When was the last service ? June 2010? 2. I see aircon fixed dec 20. Still working ok? 3. The odometer stopped working at 62k , do you think it had been disconnected ?
Hi, the car was last Serviced in May 2021 with receipt showing Engine oil, oil filter, spark plugs, air filter and pollen filter replacement. The air conditioning works fine, it was regassed when it came out of storage. The odometer did stop work as they are a known fault, this has been replaced and is now working. There is a receipt to support this repair.
I see you have owned the car approx 15 years though in the last 11 years the car has only done 200 miles ? Is there any reason the car has not been used for so long.
The car has been in storage for some time but it has been MOT’d by the storage company as a part of the package.
I notice pressure dial is above 5 bar before the engine starts and stays there while driving when it should be at zero before starting and fluctuating as you drive depending on revs how long as this been happening
Thanks
Martin
Hi Martin, thank you for your enquiry. I have notice this to, I would suspect it may need a replacement pressure switch, but a simple test would confirm this.
