Introduction

Darren Rungasamy
Photographer and Editor

The svelte and elegant styling still turns heads, placing the XKR as a barometer for elegance and power.

Open-top Jaguars have always had an allure of desirability, from the classic XK and E-Types right up to the modern-day models, each roadster offers a balance of styling harmony, comfort and in the XKR’s case, potent performance. An evolution of the X150 series, the XKR utilised advanced aluminium construction and state-of-the-art technology, while retaining the many virtues that the previous models had established. Practical, spacious and comfortable, the XKR proved to be one of the most rewarding of Jaguars. The balance of power with a genuinely dynamic driving experience; there’s over ~500BHP worth of horses waiting to be unleashed, yet its mannerism and grace allow that urge to be controllable in the most civilised manner.

Finished in silver with ivory leather interior, this XKR comes to market from ~10 year ownership, has just ~51,360 miles and has 14 documented services. The car has desirable options like keyless entry/start, heated electric memory sears, cruise control, automatic lights, parking sensors front and back. It was last serviced in July 2024 ~2,000 miles ago, has an MOT to July 2025 and comes with its full owner's wallet and booklet and two keys.

This listing was written from information supplied by Darren after meeting Richard the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

It's been the perfect touring car for us around the country lanes where we live and in our trips around the UK.

As a true Jaguar admirer, the XKR was bought by Richard in 2015 to fulfil its natural ability as a genuine touring car for leisure purposes. It has been used for some long leisure trips around the UK and until recently, it was his go-to car.

Looking for something that will also accommodate the family dog on his travels, his trusty XKR is now waiting for its next adventure. Richard will be happy to answer any questions about the car in the comments section below.

Exterior

Smartly presented in sleek silver, the XKR has dated very well.

Wheels and Tyres

The 20” Jaguar "Nevis Supercharged" optional alloys are in good visual shape. We spotted paint touch-ups and few marks on the wheels, but they display well.

Fitted with Pirelli P-Zero tyres, the front pair date from 2020 and the rears are from 2018. All look in good shape with plenty of tread.

image

Bodywork

The body presents very well, with no discernible dent damage. The panels are flush to the body with even shut lines. Aside from a minor corrosion spot on the top of the offside rear wing, the car appears free of panel blemishes. The doors open and close with no obstructions. The car's structure is solid, the boot floor, engine bay and floor pan look positive, with some signs of age noted on the rear cross-member brackets.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our high-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

image

Paint

The silver paint has a decent lustre and a consistent hue across the car. The nose has a handful of chips and touch-ups as expected with age, and we spotted a few minor marks on the nearside door.

The top of the A-pillar above the windscreen has a slightly matt like finish showing marks and could benefit from correction. That said, we feel the overall presentation is above the expectations of a car of this age, and these blemishes are straightforward amends to resolve through paint specialists.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

image

Glass and Trim

The glass is in good shape with decent seals. There is a small stone chip on the lowest section of the passenger side of the windscreen; it is clear of the driver's vision and has never been flagged as an MOT advisory.

The lights and lenses are in good shape, and the seals on the rear lenses show a bit of age. The body trim is clean with no significant flaws.

image

Interior

A beautiful cabin reflects careful ownership over the years, a very comfortable GT.

Seats and Carpets

The electric heated memory seats are finished in ivory leather, and are in good condition. Just mild creases on the drivers seat bolster and some small marks from entering/exiting.

The carpets and mats are in good condition and are free of dampness. The boot is cleanly presented without suggestions of heavy use.

image

Dashboard

The dashboard is in good shape, and the leather and stitching have lasted well with no scuffs or marks. The facia displays well, with no issues with the displays, dials or controls.

There is a blemish on one of the centre console buttons, but otherwise free of marks. All are said to function as they should. The door cards and headlining are clean as pictured.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The leather wrapped, multifunction steering wheel displays positively, with clean buttons as pictured.

The automatic gear selector in the centre console rises/falls as expected, and the car features paddle shifters behind the steering wheel as pictured.

image

Mechanics

A satisfying number of engine services adds confidence to the car's positive mechanical health.

Engine and Gearbox

The car fires up with no hesitation and free of unwanted engine noises. All warning lights remained off, as the exhaust condensation soon cleared up. The engine was left running for at least 10 minutes, it idled smoothly and evenly.

We didn't spot any fluid leaks during our visit. The rotary gear selector works well, engaging gears smoothly. Watch the video to see the car in action on the road.

image

Suspension and Brakes

The XKR is composed on the move, with no negative feedback noted from the wheels. The ride is smooth and comfortable, absorbing the road conditions with no thuds, just as you'd expect from a Jaguar.

The braking is effective and free of any wobbles or noises.

image

The Drive

The 5.0-litre supercharged V8 offers a balanced combination of power and torque, showcasing its smooth and refined delivery. Fulfilling its role as a grand tourer, its impressive grip and surprising agility make it an excellent all-rounder.

While Richard held back the car's potential, it provided an opportunity to focus on its refinement and comfort. The steering is described to be sharp with no faults, remaining true upon braking. While there were no significant vibrations, knocks or noises from the wheels, we heard light interior trim rattles but nothing that is out of the ordinary for an open-top car.

image

Electrics and Other

The soft top operates without any issues, the motors work smoothly offering a good fit. The soft top has a few mild marks but shows no evidence of outdoor elements.

As mentioned, the car features options like keyless entry/start, heated electric memory seats, parking sensors front and back, cruise control, automatic headlights.

History and Paperwork

Coming to market from ~10 year ownership, just 3 former keepers, a well spec'd example with 14 records of servicing, this car has been well-maintained.

First registered in March 2009, the car comes with 13 service stamps and an invoice for one carried out ~2,000 miles ago. Obtained by Richard via Jaguar main dealer Guy Salmon in Northampton in May 2015, it comes with its last bill of sales, its owner's wallet and a full complement of booklets. It was last serviced in July 2024, has an MOT to July of 2025 and comes with two keys.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment of the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
