Introduction

Colin Bashford
Professional Consigner

A sleek shape, the DB7 exudes timeless class, especially in the Chiltern Green paintwork.

Designed by Ian Callum and Keith Helfet, the DB7 was introduced to the world at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show. It featured a straight-six engine based on the Jaguar AJ6. Positioned below the V8 Virage, the DB7 was Aston Martin's entry-level model.

Over its nearly 10-year production run, the DB7 became the highest-produced Aston Martin ever, with approximately 7,000 cars rolling off the line. This specific car is an early 1995 model fitted with a 5-speed manual gearbox. This car has been part of a collection, acquired ~4 years ago to sit alongside some other complimentary cars and motorbikes. It comes with plenty of invoices and its original service book, it also has a current MOT valid until 07.10.2025.

This listing was written from information supplied by Colin after meeting Norma the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

Having owned a DB7 back in 1995, I couldn’t resist acquiring this one when it became available.

Norma shared that she has always been a big fan of Aston Martin, and the DB7 has always held a special place in her heart. She bought the car as an investment to join her collection of cars and motorbikes ~4 years ago.

Due to a change in circumstances, Norma has decided to sell some of her vehicles through us, including this lovely DB7. She hopes it will go to someone who will appreciate it as much as she has. She will be happy to answer any questions on the car in the comments section below.

Exterior

The DB7 is a proper British grand tourer, instantly recognisable as an Aston with the iconic grille.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with the original 12 spoke Speedline wheels, all appeared to be in good condition with no obvious damage noted. We did notice that the centre caps had some slight scratches, and the front offside one had a bit of paint flaking, but this didn't seem a major concern. The car comes with the, hard to find, original dustbin lid wheel trims.

The tyres were all Bridgestone, with Express S-01 on the fronts and S-02 on the rears. We observed some cracking between the treads on all the tyres, so it would probably be worth changing them if the car is to be used to its full potential, with the front tyres showing more age than the rears. Please have a look at the photos and video below to assess the condition of the wheels and tyres for yourself.

image

Bodywork

The bodywork around the DB7 looked in decent shape. The doors and boot lined up well and opened and closed easily. The bonnet gap did seem slightly tighter on the offside as pictured. We did notice some small door dings on both doors, which we have pointed out in the photos below.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

image

Paint

The "Chiltern Green" paint around the DB7 looked in good condition, with an even coat and paint match on each panel. We did notice slight bubbling in the paint at the top of the passenger door, as pointed out in the photos below, as well as a small blemish on the passenger-side wing mirror.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

image

Glass and Trim

The glass appeared to be in great condition, with no noticeable chips, cracks, or discolouration.

The trim also looked to be in good condition. The front grille was in place and complete, and all badging and chrome were in good condition as well.

image

Interior

The split green and cream leather interior provides a well suited contrast to the exterior.

Seats and Carpets

The cream leather seats with green piping were in great shape, just showing some signs of age with creases in the leather. We noticed a small area of scratches on the outside of the driver's seat, as well as some wear where the seat back meets the bottom of the seat. There was also a slight scuff on the upper outside bolster of the passenger seat.

The green carpets were in decent shape as well, although we observed a couple of stains on the driver's side carpet. However, we noted that the carpet in the boot was missing.

Please take a look at the photos and video below to decide on the condition of the seats and carpets for yourself.

image

Dashboard

The split green and cream leather dashboard was in good condition, though we did notice some small scuffs just above the dials. The wooden trim was also in good shape. The odometer read approximately 57,225 miles at the time of our visit, ~57,266 at the MOT.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The green leather steering wheel was in good condition, showing some signs of age but nothing excessive, consistent with the age of the car.

The gearstick also showed some signs of wear on both the gear knob and the gaiter, again in line with the car’s age. Please take a look at the photos and video below to check the condition of the steering wheel and gear stick for yourself.

image

Mechanics

The straight-six engine and manual gearbox make this DB7 specification one for the drivers.

Engine and Gearbox

The 3.2L straight-six engine started on the first attempt and idled smoothly, with no unwanted noises. On the road with Norma's partner the engine felt great, and the power delivery was smooth.

The 5-speed manual gearbox engaged gears easily, both up and down the box, with no crunching or other unwanted noises noted. Please take a look at the cold start video below to assess the performance of the engine and gearbox for yourself.

image

Suspension and Brakes

The suspension felt good on the road, effectively soaking up bumps and keeping the occupants comfortable in the cabin. While we didn't have the opportunity to test the car's full capabilities during our short drive, it felt capable of covering long distances with ease.

The brakes performed well, stopping the DB7 without any noticeable shaking through the steering wheel. We also did not hear any unusual noises.

image

The Drive

As mentioned above, the DB7 drove exceptionally well. This grand tourer is very engaging with its manual gearbox. The engine produced ample power, and the roadholding felt excellent.

To see the DB7 in motion please take a look at the on the road video below.

image

Electrics and Other

The DB7 is equipped with several electrical features, including an Alpine head unit with a CD changer. While we didn't test everything, Norma informed us that, to her knowledge, everything was in working order.

History and Paperwork

Coming to market from 3 year ownership as part of a collection, and having covered only approximately 10,000 miles in the last 20 years, this DB7 has plenty of miles left in it.

The service book has 16 service stamps, 9 of which are from main dealers up to 2003. In March 2003, there was a large maintenance bill that included a replacement differential, steering pump, brake discs, pads, and a wheel bearing.

The car has only travelled approximately 57,266 miles in its 30-year life, with only about 10,000 miles added in the past 10 years. Since Norma bought the car, she hasn't driven it; it has remained in her garage with the other cars and bikes in her collection. The car was last serviced on 16.09.2021 and has only covered around 700 miles since, it comes with a current MOT valid until 07.10.2025.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

Hello Norma, This is a stunning specification DB7 and looks very clean indeed.
I have a question (and apologies if this is mentioned in the write up but I can’t find it); how many key/fob sets are with the car?

Any chance of seeing the floor pans with carpets and mats removed?

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
