Introduction

Darren Rungasamy
Editor and Photographer

The DB7 is a sophisticated thoroughbred for the modern-classic connoisseur.

The DB7 marked a pivotal new era for Aston Martin, safeguarding the company's future following a major investment from Ford. Utilising a high proportion of dependable Ford/Jaguar components, the DB7 offered reliability and quickly became Aston Martin's best-selling model up to that time, appealing to a wider audience.

Over its ten-year production, the DB7 successfully restored Aston Martin's position as a leading supercar manufacturer, grounding the brand's racing pedigree while offering substantial driving pleasure beneath its elegant form. Considered one of the most beautiful cars of its era, it promises refinement, comfort, and ample performance from its proven Jaguar AJ6 straight-six engine.

This stunning, believed special-order example is finished in 'Cotswold Champagne' with a 'Charcoal/Pacific Connolly' leather interior and shows just ~24,412 miles. It comes from over ~5.5 years with our vendor and includes its original bill of sales, three keys, the owner's manual, an MOT until July 2026, and was last serviced approximately 100 miles ago.

This listing was written from information supplied by Darren after meeting Nik the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

Originally, I was planning on buying a car for my wife, but then I got distracted...

Nik discovered this DB7 in 2020 while searching for a car for his wife. Having long wished for a gold Aston Martin, this well-kept example perfectly fit the bill. After some friendly negotiation, they agreed he could buy the Aston if they got a new dog - a win-win situation!

Unfortunately, a recent house conversion led to the loss of his dedicated storage space, leaving the car exposed to the elements. Combined with a lack of use, Nik now feels it is time for the Aston to find a new, suitable home.

Nik will be happy to answer any questions about the car in the comments section below.

Exterior

Gorgeous contours that look good from every angle, the DB7 is considered one of the most beautiful cars of its era.

Wheels and Tyres

A set of desirable Speedline wheel disc sets off the 12-spoke 18” alloys. There are minor rim scuffs on the alloys, but the covers are in good shape with the odd minor mark.

The front and rear of the car is fitted with Bridgestone tyres and show a spec of 245/40 - the front Turanza pair is coded from 2021 and the rear Potenza pair is from 2016/2017. They all have legal tread.

Please take a look at the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior of the DB7 and a closer look at the wheels and tyres to make your own assessment of their condition.

Bodywork

Exterior panel work is flush with visibly consistent shut lines and is entirely free of damage. While some photographs show the bonnet slightly ajar, it closes and seals without issue, and the doors open and close with ease.

The car's underside looks solid, showing only minor age-related tarnishing, far exceeding expectations for a 30-year-old vehicle.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our high-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The distinctive and rare 'Cotswold Champagne' finish (a dealer option) features even coverage and is free of significant swirls or aging. Minor imperfections include a handful of chips on the nose and light surface scuffs elsewhere. There is a touch-up spot near the nearside tail lamp and a small chip on the driver's door edge.

The nearside front wing exhibits a few instances of ruptured membrane bubbling with associated paint cracking, and a couple of smaller instances are present on the offside front wing.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass is in good shape, with only minor signs of age visible on the windscreen. All seals are decent. Condensation was present in both light covers but cleared quickly after driving.

The trim is in good condition and remains well-mounted.

The bumpers sit flush against the body but exhibit minor paint fractures and light marks, which are more pronounced on the rear bumper.

Interior

The cabin was crafted with impressive attention to detail and top-notch materials, ensuring it has stood the test of time beautifully.

Seats and Carpets

The interior features 'Charcoal' leather complemented by 'Pacific Blue' leather seats. Both front seats show minor age, including light bolster wear on the driver’s seat and light marks on the passenger seat, which but appear to be mainly superficial wear.

The carpets are dry and in good condition, noting only a mark on the driver's side mat.

The boot lining is also in good condition, showing minimal signs of use.

Dashboard

The dashboard is smartly presented, with decent padding, facia, trim and veneer. There are a few light marks on the edge of the binnacle and on the glovebox lid.

The switches, dials, and controls are in good shape, and all are said to function as they should.

The door cards are decent, with just a few light marks noted on the driver's side.

The alcantara headlining is clean and the interior trim is smartly presented.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel and gear lever show minimal wear, displaying above the typical expectation for a car of this age.

Only the handbrake's leather gaiter exhibits light wear.

Mechanics

The durable and well-proven straight-six engine delivers silky smooth power with abundant thrills.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine started easily from cold with no unwanted noises, rattles, or vibrations. Although the cooling fan was intermittent during start-up and a cooling warning light recently appeared (as noted by Nik), this issue will be fully investigated and resolved by a specialist prior to the car's handover. The engine idled evenly and produced no exhaust smoke. After the ten-minute drive and once warmed up, the engine idled smoothly without any fluctuation, and the cooling fan did not engage.

The engine presentation is tidy, showing mild age on some metal components.

The automatic gearbox functioned perfectly during demonstration, with no slippage or hesitancy reported.

Suspension and Brakes

The suspension is typically firm but absorbent, tracking over the uneven road surface without any negative feedback or knocks.

No unwanted noises were heard during cornering.

The braking is effective, with no vibrations, pulling or squealing on the day.

The front calipers and pads were replaced in 2023.

The Drive

Widely considered a return to form, the car balances comfortable long-distance travel with dramatic handling on back roads. Developed by TWR, the proven Jaguar straight-six delivers a glorious sound when pushed, guided by the impressive mid-range punch of its supercharger.

The car is characterized by smooth acceleration and high-speed cruising capability. While easy to drive, it is clearly suited for open, sweeping roads than urban use. Nik demonstrated its impressive mid-range pull during a test drive, allowing us to appreciate the well-suppressed noise within the cabin.

The steering was completely compliant, free of unwanted noise or feedback; the smooth, calming ride effectively belies the car's age. The suspension tracks well with no observed vibrations. Nik demonstrated the excellent braking capability by executing a well-timed slow-down with confidence.

Nik confirms the car has been reliable over his five and a half years of ownership, reporting no issues with oil pressure or engine temperature.

Electrics and Other

The car retains its original 10-CD Autochanger/Tape/FM equipment.

The aircon saw attention in 2023.

History and Paperwork

Previously owned by a FIA World Endurance Championship competitor, the car has seen recent spending.

The car was registered in July 1995 by main dealer Stratstone London and features a service history that includes five main dealer stamps and a 2023 specialist service. Recent maintenance includes replacement front brake calipers and pads, a new AC condenser, and a new battery.

It has been kept by four long-term owners, including an FIA World Endurance Championship competitor, from whom Nik acquired the car in 2020. Nik has since added approximately 2,000 miles.

The DB7 comes with its original bill of sales, three keys, the owner's manual, a full tool kit, and an MOT valid until July 2026. Note: The current registration plate is negotiable but will not be included in the final auction unless arranged separately; otherwise, the car will be sold with an age-related plate.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment of the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.
