Introduction

Jacob Boodrie
Professional Consigner

The Aston Martin DB7, a true British thoroughbred with performance and handling running deep through its veins.

The Aston Martin DB7 is a sophisticated grand tourer. The sleek and sexy body shape combined with a supercharged straight-six makes this car the complete package.

Aston Martin’s saving grace throughout the ’90s was without a doubt the DB7. With over 7000 models produced for a reason, it was a hit and still is. With roots in Jaguar’s XJS, Aston Martin took what was already a great platform and built upwards from there.

An AJ6 engine combined with an Eaton Supercharger produces an awful lot of power and torque which makes this a great car for continental cruising.

This example has been owned and cared for over the past 8 years by Tim. He made sure to have a full professional detail of the car before the sale, to ensure it was ready for the new owner to cherish and enjoy straight away.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Jacob after meeting Tim the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

What a car! A real pleasure to drive and own, but now it's time to find a new owner.

Taking the car for long drives along the south coast and making the most of it sunny days, Tim has enjoyed his ownership of the DB7. A beautifully smooth ride with a huge amount of power just a press of a pedal away. The engine has a beautiful sound, you’ll understand when watching the cold start video.

“I’ll be sad to see it go”, says Tim. “It’s time for a new owner, someone to cherish and use the car, just as I have.” With Tim, not getting much use of the car over lockdown, he’s decided to find the car a new home.

Exterior

A true British masterpiece, subtle hints to its XJS history, yet a more refined and sleek grand tourer.

Wheels and Tyres

This DB7 has 18” 5 spoke alloys, which are original to the car and would benefit for a light refurbishment. They are wrapped in Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 with lots of tread remaining.

The car also comes with a space saver in the boot, take a look through the video footage to see the wheels and tyres in more detail.

Bodywork

DB7 has timeless British looks, a long body makes this car rather attractive when viewing from every angle. Lots of composite body parts keep the weight down as well.

Upon inspection, the shut lines across all the panels are tight and even as you'd expect, a small bubble can be found on the nearside B pillar and a scratch on the boot lid - please review all the images and videos to see the full condition of the bodywork.

Paint

Finished In a beautiful deep metallic blue, it’s rather a rare colour for this car.

The paint is even in finish and colour across the car.

There are some small stone chips along the front bumper, they can be seen in detail on the photos and videos, the wing mirrors have a little chipping too. Showing the originality of the car and its history.

Glass and Trim

All in good condition, some of the plastic trim could do with some thorough cleaning, please view the photos for a closer look.

Interior

You’re surrounded with the finest quality leather, everywhere you look. This handmade interior has stood the test of time.

Seats and Carpets

Grey leather with black piping, this interior is a classy place to be. The seats all round look to be in good condition, especially for the age and mileage of this car.

The carpets look great too, with a deep pile for a quality look and feel. There is a small rip underneath the driver’s seat, please take a look at the ‘interior review’ video to see all the details.

Dashboard

Finished with red gauges and black dials, the instrument panel is crisp and legible. All buttons are clean and Tim assures us they all function as expected.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A touring focused steering wheel, with wood veneer, adds to the class.

Both the steering wheel and veneer gear stick are in very good condition.

Mechanics

A Supercharged Straight Six means a lot of power and torque at your disposal.

Engine and Gearbox

This car features a hand-build straight-six supercharged engine perfect for long drives through the country.

The engine sprang into life on the cold start video, and after a while settled down to a smooth tick over.

On a short drive out to do some photographs, it sounded just as it should, loud but not obnoxious.

Tim tells us there are no issues with the engine and gearbox.

Suspension and Brakes

Tim assures us that the car handles as you'd expect for an Aston Martin and also stops just as it should do too.

With the car having been regularly serviced throughout its life, the suspension and brakes have always been tended to when needed e.g. brake fluid and safety checks.

The underside of the car looks free from rust and corrosion - please take a look at the images and videos to review in detail.

The Drive

Don’t be fooled by the Aston’s elegant body lines - this car was designed to be driven; performance and handling on tap when required.

Tim assures us the car drives beautifully and fault-free.

Electrics and Other

As you would expect from an Aston Martin, lots of buttons and controls at your disposal.

The car features an Alpine tape player which is rather fitting for its age.

All lights, buttons and modes are working correctly on the car with no issues reported from Tim.

History and Paperwork

A beautiful collection of service stamps - loads of provenance with this sophisticated classic.

This fine example is not short on service history - as you would expect for an Aston Martin.

The car has been regularly serviced and MOT'd each year - you can tell from the photos how meticulous the owner has been in keeping this car.

We have actioned our usual checks;
- Photo ID
- V5C (dealer not recorded as an additional owner on the logbook)
- HPi clear

Hi Tim,

I was wondering if you have or are planning to put the car through the MOT, it appears to have expired 7 months ago, I presume Covid has delayed such.

Did you sort out the fuel and brake pipes in preparation for the MOT.

Regards Mark
