Introduction

Jacob Boodrie
Professional Consigner

Effortlessly quick and rather handsome - the Aston Martin DB7 Vantage is a highly desirable pedigree sports car ideal for this summer.

The Aston Martin DB7 is a Grand Tourer (GT) which was produced from September 1994 to December 2004. The car was available either as a coupé or a convertible (Volante). In 1999, the more powerful DB7 V12 Vantage was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show. Its 5.9-litre, 48-valve, V12 engine produced ~420BHP and with a top speed of 165mph the automatic gearbox and mighty 5.9L will take you to 60mph in 4.9 seconds.

This DB7 is coming to market from ~1 year of ownership. It comes with some main dealer history that details the upkeep and maintenance of the mechanical aspects of this luxurious grand tourer. Presented in an attractive metallic green over parchment colourway, it's a lovely specification which gives this DB7 Vantage Volante that extra appeal, just in time for summer. As the car doesn't come with tons of service history, the seller has set a keen reserve on this car, lowering it by ~£1,500 from the get go, so if you're in the market for a DB7 Vantage, take a proper look at this one.

This listing was written from information supplied by Jacob after meeting Kenneth the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I've loved using this car on high days and holidays, the DB7 offers a drive like no-other.

Kenneth has really enjoyed ownership of this DB7 over the previous year, he's had the car in his dry garage, reserved for sunny weekends only, which the mileage and condition reflect. The car also comes with an indoor soft cover and an outdoor waterproof cover.

He was hoping to keep this example to enjoy for many years to come, however, due to a recent change in job and loss of company car, has decided to part with the DB7 to put the funds to better use on a more suitable daily driver. Kenneth will be on hand to answer any questions on the car in the comments below.

Exterior

Curvaceous styling retains the classic Aston Martin style in a subtle but distinctive way, a modern classic with heritage.

Wheels and Tyres

The 10-spoke Aston Martin wheels finished in silver which look great on this DB7. On this example, the wheels appear in good condition with some light signs of age and small areas of surface corrosion under the paint. Take a look at the detailed photos and videos for a closer look.

The wheels are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres and these appear to also be in great condition, dated 2016/17 with a good amount of tread remaining and no visible cracking or signs of age to the sidewalls.

Bodywork

The bodywork of this DB7 looks in great condition, with all the panel gaps around the car looking to align very well. During our visit we didn't spot any obvious dings down the flanks of the car, everything looking crisp and sharp while standing very straight and true. Please note, as pictured, in some of the photos we hadn't correctly closed the offside side of the bonnet, it does sit flush when closed.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in this lovely metallic green paint, it is to a lovely standard, with even coverage and colour across each panel. We did notice one small stone chip to the front bumper and some minor scratching under the rear bumper, you can see these small defects in the photos and video below. The car has seen some paintwork in the past as per the invoices, most recently in 2021.

Again, we have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves.

Glass and Trim

The glass on this DB7 example looks great and in line with the low mileage and ownership, we didn't notice any chips, cracks, or discolouration on our visit. The window seals look good too and in line with the rest of the condition of the car.

The mesh grille, chrome door handles, and black window surrounds all look in good condition too. Take a look at the exterior photos to see the convertible hood in good condition with no tears or rips.

Interior

One luxurious place to be, even after ~24 years, the leather interior with green detailing and carpets is a delight.

Seats and Carpets

The parchment leather seats with green piping and stitching have held their shape very well over the years, as you would expect for cherished and careful ownership. There are only signs of age on the seats in terms of the expected creasing to the leather that comes with age.

A similar story is told with the green leather door cards and carpets. We did notice a small area of wear on the passengers footwell. Please take a look at the extensive media for a detailed view of the cabin.

Dashboard

The dashboard is covered in a dark green leather finish and presents six black gauges to the driver.

The dashboard in this DB7 shows no signs of any major damage or scuffs. With no warning lights displayed, the odometer showed a reading of ~54,752 miles on our visit.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

An original black Aston Martin steering wheel is fitted, finished in black leather. The original steering wheel presents in great condition in line with the mileage of this car, the wooden gloss automatic gear selector looks good too. Take a look at the image gallery to see the detail.

Mechanics

The Aston Martin is cut from different cloth when it comes to performance cars, with its incredibly smooth yet powerful V12.

Engine and Gearbox

Fitted with the desirable and sought-after 5.9L V12 engine from Aston Martin, on the day of our visit we started the car from cold, and the car performed out on the road the engine pulled nicely, idled smoothly, and ran without fault.

Kenneth reports the car starts from cold with no issues and drives well with its smooth ZF 5HP30 five-speed automatic gearbox powering the wheels. Take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold, driving around, and for a closer look underneath the DB7, and the engine bay.

Suspension and Brakes

With the largest vented disc brakes ever fitted to a production car at the time and World Championship Group C sports car racing technology adapted into the four-channel electronically controlled anti-lock system, you can rest assured this car offers prompt stopping power.

On our short drive in the car, it felt just as you'd expect for a Aston from this era, coming to a stop without a fuss too.

The Drive

An extremely fun and thrilling ride is offered with the roof down on this DB7. Kenneth has loved using this car occasionally around his home town during last summer and polishing it during the winter months.

The Aston fired up the first time with no issues to report. On the road with Kennth, the car felt tight, with mighty power from the V12 mounted in front. We didn’t notice any unusual noises coming from the engine or suspension either.

Electrics and Other

We didn’t test all the electrics during our visit, but Kenneth reports that to his knowledge all of the electrics are functional and operational, in line with the rest of the condition of the car.

The car has an Alpine stereo unit fitted and also comes with its original Kenwood unit with 6-CD changer mounted in the boot.

History and Paperwork

Highly sought-after Aston Martin DB7 finished in the lovely shade of metallic green over parchment leather and of course, powered by the thrilling V12 Vantage engine - you'll get many summers full of enjoyment out of this GT.

The car is coming out of ~1 year ownership with Kenneth. The car has a lot of originality and most importantly the later V12 Vantage engine which take centre stage. Take a look at this history and paperwork media to see the previous MOT reports, servicing and parts this DB7 has received over it's life.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a HPi check on the vehicle.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

Hi Kenneth
Lovely looking motor car.
On previous MOT’s the car has advisories for chassis corrosion near the front mounting points, however on the latest MOT there is no mention of this corrosion. Is this something that you had corrected and if so could you upload an invoice for the work please.
Kind regards
Richard
