Introduction

Jacob Boodrie
Professional Consigner

A refined V12 grand tourer, combining elegant styling, exceptional comfort, and effortless performance.

Following renewed financial investment, Aston Martin entered a new chapter with the launch of the steel-bodied DB7. Developed with technical support from Jaguar and Ford, it was a completely new design that signalled a fresh direction for the marque. The original Jaguar-based straight-six engine was engineered and assembled by TWR, drawing on its experience with the European Touring Car Championship XJS. Upon its release, the DB7 received widespread acclaim for both its styling and performance. Autocar famously remarked, “The last time the UK produced a sporting car of such beauty, Jaguar called it the E-Type.” Offered as either a coupé or convertible, with the choice of manual or automatic transmission, the DB7 quickly became Aston Martin’s best-selling model to date, thanks to its competitive pricing, Ian Callum’s timeless design, and unmistakable Aston Martin character.

The later DB7 Vantage introduced a completely new Cosworth-developed 5.9-litre V12 engine, producing an impressive 420 BHP through either a smooth automatic transmission or the rarer, driver-focused TREMEC T56 six-speed manual gearbox. Performance was equally impressive, with 0-60 mph taking less than five seconds and a top speed of up to 185 mph, although automatic Volante models were limited to 165 mph. While retaining the elegant proportions of the original DB7, the Vantage featured subtle styling revisions, including redesigned door mirrors, a larger front grille, and revised front fog lamps. Combining strong performance with exceptional refinement and build quality, the DB7 Vantage laid the foundations for the modern Aston Martin range.

Presented in Solent Silver Metallic over a Parchment leather interior, this 2000 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante is a particularly attractive example.

It is clear to see that this car has been carefully cherished throughout its last ~11 years of ownership. Its impressive provenance is supported by 12 Aston Martin main dealer service stamps, along with a comprehensive history file containing thousands of pounds worth of invoices dating back to 2000. The car is offered with an MOT valid until June 2027.

This listing was written from information supplied by Jacob after meeting Nigel the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

The DB7’s elegant proportions and flowing lines create a timeless design, perfectly suited to a convertible of this calibre.

Nigel had always fancied owning an Aston Martin, and this well-presented DB7 Vantage Volante in silver/blue with a parchment leather interior was the perfect fit. He has owned the car for ~11 years, during which time it has been carefully enjoyed and maintained, although it has covered limited mileage in recent years.

The combination of the V12 engine, elegant Volante styling, and traditional Aston Martin craftsmanship makes this a sought-after model. Nigel has taken great care of the car throughout his ownership, ensuring it has been maintained and enjoyed as intended.

You can find further information in the history and paperwork section, and Nigel will be on hand in the comments to answer any questions you may have.

Exterior

Well-presented bodywork and a deep metallic finish perfectly complement the DB7's timeless design.

Wheels and Tyres

This example is fitted with Aston Martin 18" 15-spoke sport alloy wheels, which appear to be in good condition overall. We did notice scratches to most of the spokes, but no signs of curbing marks.

The wheels are fitted with Bridgestone Potenza's S-O2A's dated 2013 on the front and 2018 on the rear they appear to be in good visual condition, with a good amount of tread remaining and no visible cracking on the outside walls.

Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old.

image

Bodywork

The bodywork appears to be in good overall condition, with panel gaps aligning visually well around the car.

As to be expected, there are some minor age-related marks including a small scratch to the o/s/f bumper and some small stone chips.

We've provided more detailed observations through our high-resolution images and videos. Please take the time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

image

Paint

Finished in a timeless Solent Silver Metallic, the paintwork presents in great condition with even colour and coverage across all panels.

Once again, we've captured high-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the paintwork for yourselves.

image

Glass and Trim

The glass is in good condition for the car’s age - during our visit we didn’t notice any obvious cracks or discolouration. We did notice a small stone chip in the offside bottom corner.

The window seals appear good and consistent with the overall condition of the car.

The door handles and window surrounds also present well.

The blue mohair convertible roof presents in great condition.

image

Interior

A beautifully crafted cabin showcasing classic British luxury, with soft leather, rich walnut veneers, and exceptional attention to detail.

Seats and Carpets

The parchment leather seats have retained their shape well over the years, with only light creasing visible. The dashboard features burl walnut trim with navy secondary hide, complemented by matching carpets and door cards.

The door cards and carpets present similarly, showing a consistent level of condition throughout the interior.

For a detailed view of the cabin, please take a look through the extensive media.

image

Dashboard

The odometer displayed ~68,468 miles at the time of consignment.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The black leather Aston Martin steering wheel was in great condition with Touchtronic controls.

The black leather gear selector also looked in good shape too, both consistent with the condition of the car.

Mechanics

The smooth and powerful V12 delivers effortless performance, perfectly suited to refined grand touring.

Engine and Gearbox

The DB7 Vantage Volante is its naturally aspirated 5.9L V12 engine, producing ~420 BHP and capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in approximately 4.9 seconds, with a top speed of up to 165 mph for the Volante.

On the day of our visit, we started the car from cold and it performed well on the road - the V12 engine delivered strong, smooth power, idled cleanly, and ran as expected.

Nigel reports that the Aston Martin starts from cold without issue and drives beautifully, with the smooth automatic gearbox delivering the V12’s power effortlessly. Please take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold, being driven, and for a closer look underneath the DB7 Vantage Volante.

image

Suspension and Brakes

On the drive out, Nigel took us along some local roads. We heard no obvious knocks, bangs, or squeaks from the suspension, and overall, the car performed as expected with no issues observed.

We cover the underside of the Aston in our "Mechanical" gallery section. Head over to our video section, where we've summarised our visit in more detail for you to view for yourself.

image

The Drive

The Aston Martin DB7 Vantage is celebrated for its sonorous V12 engine and beautifully balanced chassis, combining effortless performance with refined grand touring ability. The smooth automatic transmission complements the engine’s broad power delivery, allowing the car to feel relaxed and composed while still offering impressive pace when called upon. On the right stretch of road, the DB7 effortlessly transitions from a refined cruiser into an engaging and rewarding grand tourer.

Take a look at the ‘On the Road’ video, where Nigel takes us for a short drive.

image

Electrics and Other

Nigel reports that everything is functional and operational, in line with the overall condition of the car, apart from the air conditioning system, which is currently not working - it may need a simple re-gas but Nigel hasn't had it looked into further.

The SRS Airbag light flashed during the cold start up as you'll see in the video - it then went off soon after start-up and remained off during the duration of the on-the-road video.

The hood is fully operational and you can see it being used in the video.
