Introduction

Jacob Boodrie
Professional Consigner

The Vantage, a rear wheel drive 5.9L naturally aspirated V12 GT, a comfortable yet performance-focused driving on the road or track.

The DB7 was first launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1993 with styling by Ian Callum, production began in 1994 at a new Aston Martin factory in Oxfordshire. It was engineered alongside TWR group who built the new supercharged six-cylinder engine. In 1999 however, a V12 variant was unveiled.

The Vantage was fitted with a new front grille, side, fog and indicator lights, along with larger 19" alloys. This late 2003 example comes fully equipped, finished in a luxurious dark navy paint over cream leather interior and wood veneer detailing. Motoring journalist Jeremy Clarkson stated that "The Vantage looks as good today as it did when it first nosed out from the factory", and we couldn't agree more.

This example is coming to market from ~13 years ownership, reserved for occasional motoring during the summer, travelling across to Europe, and across to London on rare occasions. It comes with a fresh MOT and some recent suspension work completed, ready for a new owner to drive away in and enjoy.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Jacob after meeting Tim the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I love cars, especially quick ones and this Vantage has been my pride and joy for the past 13 years.

In 2008 Tim was on the search for a new car to enjoy on the weekends, after shopping around found that the Aston Martin DB7 Vantage would be ideal for his and his wife's needs. They purchased the car from Bramley Motor Cars, and it was used for many trip in the UK and beyond. Tim reports having all his cars serviced at Forza, a specialist garage based in Bristol.

Due to lack of use, and being in the market for something a little more suitable as a daily, Tim has decided to put this car up for sale. He will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have in the comments below.

Exterior

A curvaceous yes sleek design by Sir Ian Callum, the DB7 has its place in history with the Vantage gaining more interest with time.

Wheels and Tyres

The Vantage was fitted with larger 19" alloys, which really suit the car's sleek lines - these 9 spoke examples appear in great condition, there is the slightest sign of curbing on a couple of the wheels, but you'll have to get really close to notice.

The tires are Nankang Nobel Sport NS-20's and appear in great condition with lots of tread, and are dated 2019 and can be seen in more detail in the media pack below.

Bodywork

The bodywork on this Aston looks to be in great condition, no obvious signs of corrosion or dents to the panels, and with all the gaps/shut-lines looking great

We have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in an elegant Aston Martin navy, the colour suits the shape of the car so well. The paintwork is even in colour and deep in lustre. On our visit, the car was a little dusty, a good wash and polish to really bring the paintwork out to its full potential.

When getting really close to the bodywork, we noticed the odd scratch and stone chip, in line with the age a mileage of the car. Again, the images taken are from different angles and reflections to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. Please take the time to fully assess the condition.

Glass and Trim

The glass looks in great condition throughout with no issues noticed, the rubber seals appear tight around the windows and have not perished. from our observation.

Interior

Lavished with the finest wood trim and two-tone leather, this Aston Martin cabin still gives you a special feeling.

Seats and Carpets

Fitted with cream with navy backed leather seats, these are fully electric adjustable and offer comfort and support, the deep bolsters helping to keep you in place when putting the car through its paces. The back seats present in great condition, with the front seats showing some minor creasing and wear in line with the age and mileage. We think a deep clean/detail would bring them up a level.

The deep blue carpets appear in great condition with no major wear to note. Please take a look at the photos and videos for a closer look at the seats, carpets, and door cards.

Dashboard

The dashboard is wrapped in navy leather and a walnut trim. The Aston Martin dials appear in great condition and are easily legible. The dashboard appears in great condition with some very minor cracks in the wood trim, common for the DB7.

Please see the interior gallery for more detailed photos of the dashboard up close.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Fitted with a black leather steering wheel, with gear change controls, the wheel presents in line with the rest of the condition of the car.

The automatic gear lever is also in good order with no noticeable marks to mention. Please take a look at the interior photos and videos to appreciate this classy interior.

Mechanics

The magnificent V12 bellow and astonishing performance that comes with it will not fail to put a smile on your face.

Engine and Gearbox

The Vantage was given an upgrade in the form of a 5.9L V12 powertrain, producing ~420BHP and having a 0-60 time of 4.9 seconds.

Tim reports that both the gearbox and engine are smooth in operation, and this can been seen within the mechanical video, where we start the car from cold, take it for a short drive, and capture a detailed view of the engine bay and underneath the car.

Suspension and Brakes

Tim reports the car handles very well, providing silky-smooth performance on every journey, the DB7 stops promptly too.

With the car having been regularly serviced throughout its life by main dealers and specialists, the suspension and brakes have always been tended to when needed e.g. brake fluid and safety checks. A fresh MOT identified some fractures in the front springs, Tim has had these replaced.

The Drive

Finished with elegant body lines and a huge V12 under the bonnet, this car has a lot to offer. It's the perfect blend of luxury with performance, the silky smooth V12 will transport you across the continent with ease.

Electrics and Other

Just as you would expect from a luxurious grand tourer, lots of creature comforts to make GT driving an ease.

The original Aston Martin Traffic Pro entertainment unit is fitted along with a 6x CD stack in the rear. All lights, buttons, and fully electric seats are working correctly on the car, Tim reports.

History and Paperwork

A well kept Vantage in a beautiful colourway of blue over cream, coming to market from ~13 years ownership with a fresh MOT.

Sold with its full history, and lots of previous main dealer stamps, the car has seen a great deal of mechanical attention over the years. Take a look at the history and paperwork media pack for a closer look at the provenance this car comes with. The car was last serviced July 2019, and has covered very little mileage since. Tim will be sad to see the car go after 13 years of ownership, although will be happy to see it being used and enjoyed, as this is what it was built for.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a HPi check on the vehicle.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa.
