Introduction

Isaac Wass
Professional Consigner

Designed by Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker, the Aston Martin DB9 represents a milestone in the marques history, built on the VH platform and featuring a '6.0L' V12 engine capable of producing ~450bhp.

Originally released in 2003 and following on from the DB7, the Aston Martin DB9 was a turn in direction for the Aston Martin brand who chose to build the DB9 on the Ford developed VH platform, a change of pace from the previous Jaguar based iterations of Aston Martins. The DB9 stands tall in its performance, with the 6.0L V12 naturally aspirated engine providing 450bhp, 570nm of torque, and an impressive 0-60 of just 4.9 seconds.

This particular DB9 benefits from having been driven only ~38,900 miles and having an almost full service history with either Aston Martin or a manufacturer specialist, making this a very well presented example through and through.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Isaac after meeting Harry the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Exterior

The shapely silhouette of the DB9 is as attractive today as it was upon release in 2003, the shapely body lines are as timeless as the Aston Martin brand itself.

Wheels and Tyres

The 5 spoke alloy wheels sit perfectly within the wheel arches of the DB9, providing the vehicle with a nicely aggressive stance. The wheels themselves are free of blemishes as far as we could see, with no signs of buckling, curb damage, or other such imperfections these wheels appear to be well looked after.

The tyres are Bridgestone and are DOT marked 2008, however these tyres appear to have a good amount of tread left on them and look free from damage or degradation to the outside sidewalls.

Bodywork

The bodywork looks in very good condition, with no misaligned panels, uneven panel gaps, or other such imperfections. There are no visible knocks, scrapes, or dings to be found on any of the panels.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our high resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The Oyster Silver paintwork is in visibly great condition, with no chips, scratches, or scuffs visible to the exterior paintwork. Overall the paintwork is in great condition, with no signs of respray, repair, or damage of any kind that we could see during our visit.

Again, we have taken high resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves. The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The vehicle's glass is all in good condition, with no visible cracks, chips, or scratches present on any of the panes. The surrounding trims are all in matching condition with no signs of heavy oxidation or other such damage.

Interior

The black leather interior is beautifully offset against the Oyster Silver exterior, and with a modern layout, the DB9 is an interior that modestly reminds you of its luxurious design.

Seats and Carpets

The full leather seats are black in colour, with the leather having aged remarkably well over the last 18 years. The seats have developed wrinkles as the hide has been broken in over the years, but no visible cracks or rips can be seen anywhere on the seats.

The carpet has a deep luxurious pile and appears to be in just as good condition as the rest of the vehicle, with no signs of discolouration or excessive wear to be seen.

Dashboard

The dashboard is dressed in matching black leather in kind with the rest of the interior, and with its burl wood centre inlay it adds yet another level of luxury to the already svelte interior.

With no damage to the leather or wooden inlay, the dashboard looks exactly as it should in a car of this prestige. The odometer and driver information screens are laid out in a symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing manner, providing the driver with all relevant information at a glance.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The black leather of the steering wheel is in good condition, not overly worn and all stitching is in good condition and unbroken, with the Aston Martin logo in the centre of the wheel serving as a reminder of the quality beneath your fingertips.

Mechanics

With only ~38,900 miles on the odometer, this DB9 is still very much in its prime, with no record of mechanical issues in its history, the 6.0L V12 is ready and raring to go.

Engine and Gearbox

The hand built Aston Martin 6.0L V12 is capable of 450bhp, 570Nm of torque, and a 0-60 of just 4.9 seconds. Having travelled a meagre ~38,900 miles there is very little to fault with this engine, it starts and stops on the button, idles without issue, and is free from any ticking which can be common with these engines.

The 6 speed Touchtronic gearbox is also in its prime, showing no signs of age or wear - every gear change is buttery smooth and fast, leaving the driver with no doubt as to the precision engineering going on below them.

Suspension and Brakes

During our time spent with the vehicle we noted that the brakes looked to be in good condition, with no lip on the front discs and only the slightest evidence of a lip on the rear discs. Likewise the callipers and pads appear to be in great condition too and had no difficulty in bringing the car to a precise and controlled stop during our time on the road.

The Drive

As is to be expected from a car of this calibre, every aspect of your drive in the DB9 is a performance - and an excellent one at that. From the moment you start the car you are reminded of the prestige and elegance that Aston Martin delivers, the dashboard presenting you with the message “Power, beauty, soul” on the first turn of the key, followed by the astounding roar of the V12 engine firing up in front of you.

After that the drive is very much as you would expect; sublime. With comfort, power, and precision the DB9 powers round corners, pulls up hills, and cruises with ease. The DB9 is sat on a glass pedestal in the Grand Tourer category, providing an experience above and beyond that of almost any other.

Electrics and Other

The electrical systems on this car are many, from the push to start and electronically adjustable seats, all the way down to the basics like radio, headlights, and air conditioning. During our time spent with the vehicle we made sure all of these were working, of which all bar none worked perfectly.

History and Paperwork

A lovely example of one of Aston Martin's finest GT - and comes with great history, in lovely condition and in one of the best colour combinations.

The car is currently fitted with the numberplate 'K1 FUR' - this is not included in the sale and Harry will take the plate off the car / fit the new DVLA supplied number before the new owner collects the car.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a HPi check on the vehicle.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.
