Introduction

Alan Stuart
Professional Consigner

Aluminium bodied, powered by the amazing 6.0L V12, a welcomed upgrade from its, a model which defined a new era for Aston Martin.

Initially released in 2003 and following on from the DB7, the Aston Martin DB9 was a turn in direction for the Aston Martin brand, who chose to build the DB9 on the Ford-developed VH platform, a change of pace from the previous Jaguar based iterations of Aston Martins. The DB9 stands tall in its performance, with the "6.0L" V12 naturally aspirated engine providing 450bhp, 570nm of torque, and an impressive 0-60 of just 4.9 seconds.

This 2005 Aston Martin DB9 is in lovely condition, with everything going for it. The colour is right, the trim is nice, and the service history is solid and carried out according to miles covered. Coming out of 10 year ownership with the vendor, it’s time for someone else to become the proud owner of an Aston Martin DB9.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Alan after meeting Graham the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I’ve had the pleasure of the DB9 for over ten years, and it’s been a fantastic car to own and drive.

Our vendor Graham has owned this lovely 2005 Aston Martin DB9 for over ten years. He has ensured the car has been well cared for, as you can tell by the condition and has covered approximately ~14,000 miles in the car, using it little and often has kept the mileage low for the age of the vehicle.

With ten years behind him, Graham feels it’s time for a change, and someone else can have the pleasure of owning a fabulous DB9. Please feel free to ask him any questions about the car in the comments below.

Exterior

Elegant and sleek are just two of the many words you could use to describe the beautiful looking DB9.

Wheels and Tyres

The factory 19” 10-spoke alloy wheels have recently been refurbished, meaning they are in excellent condition; also excellent are the centre caps. The tyres are matching Bridgestone and are in nearly new condition.
Please see the image gallery to take a closer look at the wheels.

Bodywork

Looking around the DB9, the doors and boot align as they should. The bonnet does have an ever so slightly bigger gap against the wing on the nearside, but this is minimal. There are no dings or dents to be seen, and overall the car presents exceptionally well.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in "Meteorite Silver", the paintwork is in lovely condition. There are a few small stone chips to the leading edge of the bonnet and a tiny indentation from a stone, which look to be in keeping with the mileage of this Aston Martin. There are no apparent signs of blistering to the aluminium body we spotted, which is often seen on the DB9.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The windows are all in excellent condition with no noticeable scratches to mention. Likewise, the window seals and chrome trim also look in good order.

Lighting the way the headlights are nice and clear, with no scratches or chips to the lenses, and the same can be said for the condition of the rear lights. The Aston Martin and DB9 badges are all in good condition, we didn't spot any tarnishing.

Interior

Iron Ore leather trim is a lovely option for this Aston Martin that suits it well - a refreshing change from black or grey.

Seats and Carpets

Finished in luxurious leather, the colour choice is "Iron Ore" which compliments the exterior nicely. The seats are in good condition with just a small amount of colour wear to the bolster, mainly on the driver's side, and there is some light creasing, as you would expect to see on a vehicle of this age.

The door cards are in good condition, finished in leather to match the seats and a wooden top to match the dashboard's centre. The rear seat is in good order and doesn't look to have had a lot of use.

The carpets appear in good condition with no noticeable signs of wear. A set of additional mats has protected these, which are also in good condition. Inside the boot, the area is nice and clean with no issues.

Please see the interior gallery for more detailed images.

Dashboard

The dashboard is also finished in matching "Iron Ore" leather. There is an odd small scuff on the lower trim sections, but generally, it is in very good condition. The instruments are working as they should, with no warning lights displayed, and the odometer shows a reading of ~58,130 miles.

To the centre is the wood trim to match the tops of the door cards, which is in good order with some bleaching to the veneer that is seen in this model and era of Aston Martin. There are a few minor age related marks on the centre console’s painted section and leather. Please see the interior gallery for more hi-resolution images.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel has some light shining to the rim, and the cruise control buttons are in good condition with minimal wear. Just behind are the paddle shifters for more spirited drivers.

Please see the interior gallery for more detailed images.

Mechanics

The handbuilt 6.0L V12 is an excellent piece of engineering - together with the slick automatic transmission, it’s a match made in heaven.

Engine and Gearbox

The V12 fires up as it should without hesitation and sounds fantastic, as seen in our mechanical review video. With 450bhp on tap, the DB9 performs exceptionally well and is a pleasure to drive. We also carried out the tick test and listened for the infamous V12 tick, which we are pleased to say was not there.

Fitted with a six-speed automatic gearbox, the V12 shifts through the gears with a smooth motion, and as mentioned, for the more spirited driver, there is the option to use the paddle shifters.

Suspension and Brakes

Being a performance luxury vehicle, the Aston’s suspension has to deliver comfort and excellent handling. This is a pleasure to be in; it's firm enough to offer superior handling and comfortable enough to easily soak up uneven roads and speed bumps.

Graham has had the brakes overhauled within the last six months. These are therefore working as they should, bringing the DB9 to a stop in a straight line with no juddering.

The Drive

It's a fantastic place to be in the Aston Martin. Smooth, sophisticated and classy all rolled into one, the DB9 offers something for everyone. It will give you immense pleasure driving the DB9; you can drive it in a sporty fashion or just as easily cruise around, taking in the sights at a steadier pace. Either way, you will be comfortable, and the Aston will cater for your every need.

Electrics and Other

The switchgear in the Aston Martin is reported to be working as it should, and there are no excessive signs of wear to the buttons. There is a Parrot Bluetooth telephone system installed to give you hands-free calling.

On the top of the dashboard is a Snooper detector, which Graham is leaving in with the sale as an added bonus. Please see the interior gallery for more detailed images.

History and Paperwork

There is a solid service history, with the DB9 often being serviced on time rather than mileage, hence the 12 Stamps for just 58,130 miles.

The service book has been well-stamped by Aston Martin main dealers; you can’t ask for more. The services have been carried out mainly on time rather than mileage; for the number of services the car has had, if it went on mileage, it would equate to 110,000 miles. Thankfully, the DB9 is nowhere near that amount. There are also several invoices for work carried out over the past few years and some previous MOT certificates.

Included with the car are two keys; Graham is also very kindly including a spare wheel and two tyres, an Aston Martin car cover and a trickle charger, and if that's not enough, the V12 GKB cherished registration is staying with the car.

If you are looking for a well-serviced, low-mileage DB9, this is a fantastic car coming to the market and will make an excellent toy for the next lucky custodian.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.
