Introduction

Glyn Parry
Professional Consigner

One of many great sports cars from the naughties, the DB9 stands out with its fierce V12 and sophisticated good looks.

The very desirable grand tourer was built for 12 years between 2004 and 2016, hand assembled in Warwickshire. Originally penned by Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker, two designers famous for the concept designs of the Escort Cosworth, RS200, BMW Z8 and many more. With a much sharper design than the DB7, it was fitted with the 5.9L V12 from the Vanquish, had an aluminium construction, and offered outstanding performance. The DB9 was the first model to be built at Aston Martin's Gaydon facility in Warwickshire, and it received an excellent reception from the press when launched.

This particular example has been owned by Adrian for the past 9 years, he's a big Aston Martin fan. He's used the car sparingly over the years, just ~3,000 miles with the mileage sitting just under 40,000, it's had a pampered life compared to lots on the market.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Glyn after meeting Adrian the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I always wanted a DB9, ever since they were released, this has been a real pleasure to own and drive.

Adrian is a big Aston Martin fan, and the DB9 really grabbed his attention when they were first released in 2004, as a result, he has spent an awful lot of time and money to keep this example in the best of condition.

After realising that he's putting very few miles on the car more recently and after recently buying a campervan, the Volante is coming up for sale. Adrian will be happy to answer any questions you may have in the comments below.

Exterior

An elegant and refined piece of art, retaining the traditional and ever present DB grille and side strakes.

Wheels and Tyres

The car rides on 19" Aston Martin Speedline alloys, finished in silver, which look in excellent condition on each corner of the car.

The alloys are wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza rubber, which has a very good amount of tread left on them and they are dated 2010/2011.

Bodywork

The bodywork on this car looks in excellent condition, retaining flush shut lines around the car. The doors hang well off their hinges and Adrian reports they open and close with ease.

The aluminium body on these cars can react in places where it touches steel, no signs of this were observed on our visit. Please take a look at the photos and videos for a closer look at the bodywork of this car.

Paint

A traditional and attractive dark grey paint is applied to this DB9, the colour really enhances the lines penned by Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker. The paint appears in excellent condition, it's even in colour and coverage across each panel.

When getting really close to the passenger door, we did notice a very small scratch around the door handle, one that'll polish out with ease and a very small scuff under the car, on the drivers sill. Please take a look at the photos and videos for a closer look at the finish of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass looks in excellent condition across the car, along with the trim. All the window rubbers and seals appear tight with no signs of excessive wear or degrading.

Interior

The leather adorned cabin, and smart centre console in the DB9 offer a luxurious GT experience.

Seats and Carpets

The interior of the car looks just as you would expect for a cherished modern classic. No funky colourway on this example, a smart black leather wrapping the cabin.

The seats, door cards, and headlining look in very good condition, with some slight signs of creasing starting to appear on the bolsters of the fully electric heated seats.

Dashboard

The dashboard appears in excellent original condition and shows very little wear in line with the age and mileage of the vehicle.

The car is fitted with its sat-nav system, Adrian reporting everything is working as you expect. We noticed a very small mark around the push, start-stop button, take a look through the video and photo review to see all the detail.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel appears in great condition and looks free from any typical wear and tear.

Gear selection on this automatic is via the buttons on the centre console, looking in good condition. Please view the images and videos for a tour of the interior.

Mechanics

450BHP straight to the rear wheels thanks to the 5.9L V12 Vanquish engine.

Engine and Gearbox

Performance and reliability are offered with this 5.9L V12 engine. It will take you to 60MPH in just 4.7 seconds and maxes out at 186MPH.

Please watch the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold without fuss.

Suspension and Brakes

Fitted with double-wishbone suspension which offers extreme stability when accelerating quickly, the chassis is aluminum and is 25% lighter than its predecessor.

Both the brakes and suspension look in great condition in this example, Adrian reports the suspension offers a firm yet comforting ride.

The Drive

The ultimate Grand Tourer, the DB9 looks, feels, and sounds great - a proper modern classic, V12's are fast becoming rare engines.

Adrian reports a firm and sporty ride offering high levels of fun, he mentions that everything is working and he often has it serviced at his local Aston Martin garage.

Electrics and Other

Adrian assures us all the electrics within the car are working as intended, just as you would expect from a meticulously owned example like this. The car is fitted with an iPod connection and Aux cable.

Please take a look at the photographs and videos for a detailed tour around and inside.

History and Paperwork

This attractive DB9 presents in very good condition, coming out of 9 years of ownership in an attractive colourway.

The car comes with lots of main dealer service history from the early life of the car, MOT certificates, and receipts. Adrian has loved owning this car, parting ways now to make more use of a campervan he has just purchased.

Included within the sale is the wind deflector and bag. Please leave any questions you have in the comments below, and Adrian will get back to you very shortly.

We have carried out checks on; Seller ID, V5, HPi clear.
