2006 Aston Martin Vanquish S

Now available for sale

Introduction

Glyn Parry
Professional Consigner

The ultimate front-engined 2+2 British super GT - sophisticated yet fierce with its high-performance V12 and finest quality interior.

Manufactured at Aston Martin's Newport Pagnell factory, the Vanquish S was Aston's flagship model. The main body structure of this car is formed from extruded aluminium sections bonded and riveted around a carbon-fibre transmission tunnel, which creates and lightweight yet extremely stiff body and chassis. All exterior panels are made using super formed aluminium, individually tailored and bonded by hand. Inside the cabin, you are treated with a combination of the finest leather and aluminium trim with suede diamond-stitched headlining.

This V12 Vanquish S has been owned by Lee for the previous 10 years. Classing Lee as a meticulous owner is a little bit of an understatement, particularly a thorough overhaul to the underside and suspension of the car ~1,000 miles ago, that coupled to the full service history with Aston Martin and the fact it is a September 2006 car making it a 2007 model year which is the last version of the Vanquish S, we believe it is an example that will be hard to beat.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Glyn after meeting Lee the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

These later Vanquish S models really were sharper than the first models, a proper evolution in the performance and handling.

This is Lee's second Vanquish, he originally purchased an early 2002 V12 model and sold it after ~2.5 years of thorough enjoyment. However, after the sale had a gaping hole deep in his soul and thoughts were soon on finding an excellent example of one of the last Vanquish S' ever made. Lee reports that this later 'S' model has really been sharpened up in the performance department compared to the earlier V12, with much better handling and noticeable speed. For the first 8 years of its life the car was under Aston Martin Extended warranty. The car has benefitted from new discs, pads, air conditioning parts, radiator, and oil cooler.

Lee also has a real passion for keeping the in top top condition, and went about completing a thorough overhaul of the underside, replacing most suspension components including arms, drop-links, rear shocks, springs. He's also had the under trays re-powder coated and mentions all parts are from Aston Martin Works Service and completely genuine.

Over his ownership, Lee has kept the car in a climate-controlled dehumidified garage, and after an enjoyable 10, he now wishes to find another enthusiast to enjoy the car as much as he has. He will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the car in the comments below.

Exterior

The car offers so much road presence with the enhanced S spoiler, redesigned front grille, and front splitter.

Wheels and Tyres

The Vanquish S is fitted with it's original diamond cut 19" 11-Spoke Aston Martin alloys, which appear in excellent condition as pictured.

The wheels are wrapped in Yokohama AVS sports, the tyres show lots of tread still remaining and with the careful use and storage of the car, look in great condition. View the picture gallery to see the detail.

Bodywork

Just as you would expect for AM's flagship model, quality control ensures the shut lines appear straight and tight on this Vanquish S. The doors, bonnet and boot all open and close cleanly and precisely.

On our visit, we didn't observe any issues with the bodywork, the underside looked amazing on this car as detailed in the Mechanics section. We have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves.

Paint

The 'Onyx Black' paint has a deep and glossy finish, which showed great lustre on our visit. The colour is consistent and looks even across each panel as you can see in the media. In black, this car looks absolutely stunning. The paintwork looks immaculate, no swirl marks we could spot, and we looked very hard for any stone chips but again no sign (in the video, the black paint reflects the texture of the driveway making it look like the odd stone chip is present but this was not the case).

Again, the images taken are from different angles and reflections to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. Please take the time to fully assess the condition.

Glass and Trim

The glass looks in excellent condition across the car, along with the trim.

All the window rubbers and seals appear tight with no signs of wear or degrading, a well kept example.

Interior

The Vanquish S offers a subtle blend of both traditional and modern materials, hand finished to the highest quality finish.

Seats and Carpets

Fitted with sports seats finished in black leather, they present in very good condition throughout. We noticed the very slightest of creases on the driver's bolster, in line with their age and mileage. Subtle design touches like the Aston Martin logo embossed in to the leather on the front seats make for a very smart cabin.

Carpets, door cards, and headlining appear in excellent condition too. Optioned with diamond-stitched headlining, the interior has been well looked after throughout Lee's ownership.

Dashboard

The dashboard is sleek and refined, with traditional AM styling. The instruments are working as they should, with the odometer displaying a reading of ~30,196 miles on our visit, and no warning lights displayed when the engine is running. The instrument binnacle is wrapped in matching black leather and looks in fine condition.

Please see the interior gallery for more high-resolution images.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Fitted with a leather-covered steering wheel along with shift paddles, both present in great condition and no signs of excessive wear. All of the Vanquish S cars were equipped with the automatic gearbox, a fitting choice for the V12 power-plant.

Mechanics

Under the hood, you'll find a 6.0L V12 rated at ~520BHP, giving you the ability to hit 60MPH in 4.8 seconds.

Engine and Gearbox

Equipped with the handbuilt 6.0L V12, coupled to a clutchless six-speed manual gearbox, the S was capable of hitting ~200MPH.

Once Lee pushed the start button, the 6.0L roared into life and the car quickly came up to temperature settling down to a smooth idle shortly after, with no untoward noises. Please take a look at the cold start and the on-the-road footage and commentary in the mechanical video.

Suspension and Brakes

The S came with the desirable Sports Dynamic Package as standard, this gave the car stiffer suspension and bigger and more powerful brakes. Lee carried out an extensive renewal to the suspension as detailed in the invoices.

The suspension looks so fresh, watch the end of the mechanics video where we've captured this in and around the wheel arches under the car.

The Drive

The V12 offers the driver a firm and tight ride, especially for such a large GT. Roll into the throttle while exiting a corner and you'll hear the V12 create a fine soundtrack from the dual rear pipes.

Electrics and Other

Lee reports all the switches, lights, and buttons work as they should. In addition to some factory options like bluetooth connectivity and heated windscreen, the car is fitted with a Camdii K2S full HD dash-cam. This has been expertly installed with a front and rear facing camera, the control unit is stored in the centre console storage area as pictured, and has functionality which includes proximity activated recordings for when the car is parked, along with standard dash-cam features.

As part of the underside overhaul, Lee had the aerodynamic panels that come with the S repainted by Aston Martin, and renewed all of the underside nut and bolts with stainless steel items to further prolong the life. View the photo gallery and video to see the detail.

History and Paperwork

Full main dealer service history, low mileage, long ownership, and treated to a host of new genuine parts, this has to be the best Vanquish S on the market right now.

As you can see from the paperwork, the car comes with a lot of previous main dealer Aston Martin services, clean MOT reports, and receipts for the work carried out. As mentioned, Lee reports no major work other than servicing has been needed to be carried out on either the engine or bodywork. To give the car a facory fresh look, Lee overhauled the underside and suspension which included arms, drop-links, rear shocks, springs, and stainless steel bolts to really take the car to a new level.

Options from factory; bluetooth, black brake callipers, console storage box, body colour door release, quilted headlining, heated front screen, 2+2 leather seating arrangement. This being a September 2006 registered car is a 2007 model year, which was the very last iteration of the Vanquish S.

The car also comes with it's original sales brochure, AM pen from the factory in the glovebox, warning triangle and umbrella, a testament to how well kept and how highly original this car truly is. Please note, the private registration will not be sold with the car.

Lee will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the car in the comments below.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a HPi check on the vehicle.
