A hand-built V8 sports car that combines agility, usability, and affordability.

Exclusivity and devastating performance have traditionally been Aston Martin's attributes, but with the brand’s shift into the modern age, the Vantage also brought in a whole new set of dimensions to further the brand's appeal. As a result, it became one of the best-selling Aston Martins of all time. Originally unveiled as a concept car in 2003, the car attracted plenty of positive feedback, which led to the release of the Vantage in 2005. The elegant-styled aluminium bonded front-mid mounted GT sports car was sold with both V8 and V12 options. Accolades soon followed, which eventually resulted in further evolutions and the development of the vehicle.

Aston Martin produced 24 variants of the Vantage over its course of production, one of which was the Vantage V8 Coupe. Known as the baby Aston, the V8 vantage was launched in competition with the Porsche 911, priced at around ~£80,000 and powered by the wonderful 4.3 litre V8, the ‘baby Aston’ was heading to cause a stir in the sports car market.

This 2006 Vantage comes with an excellent service history, a nice extras package, low ownership and low reserve.

It’s been an amazing experience to own one of my dream cars.

James' ambition was to own an Aston Martin from an early age, and he has been the proud keeper of this stunning Celeste Blue Vantage after finding it four years ago. With other commitments and working from home, the Aston isn’t getting the use it deserves, so James feels it’s better to part with it than leave it sitting in the garage.

Celeste Blue is a fantastic colour choice for the Vantage, showing off the timeless shape in all its glory.

Wheels and Tyres

The optional seven-spoke 19” platinum-finished wheels are free from damage, but some of the spokes have a small amount of surface corrosion.

The tyres are matching Bridgestone Potenzas and have a good amount of tread remaining.

Bodywork

The bodywork on the Aston is in excellent condition. There are no dings or dents to mention, and the shut lines all look good. There is just one small blister which hasn’t broken through the paint at the bottom of the passenger door. James reports that it hasn’t become any worse since he’s owned the car.

Paint

Finished in the desirable Celeste Blue, the paintwork presents extremely well. In the way of stone chips, there aren’t really many to mention, but obviously, with ~56,950 miles, there are inevitably some, but these are very minor.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass is all in excellent condition, with no apparent scratches or chips that we could see at the time of our visit. The trims and seals are the same, matching the rest of the vehicle.

The headlights and rear lights are in good condition with no chips or damage to the lenses. The grille has also been upgraded to a bright finish with fewer slats.

Interior

A timeless Obsidian Black was chosen for the leather inside the Vantage.

Seats and Carpets

Finished in Obsidian Black leather, the seats in the Aston are in excellent condition, with no real signs of wear, thanks to such low mileage. There are a couple of marks on the handle section of the door cards, but nothing excessive.

The carpets are in good order, with just a light amount of wear in keeping with the age. Inside the boot is clean and tidy, and the warning triangle is present.

Dashboard

The dashboard is finished in Obsidian Black leather with white stitching to match the seats, and this is free from any damage. The centre section has a piano black finish, which is an optional extra and is free from any noticeable scratches, and the satellite navigation screen pops up as it should. A DVD is included for the sat nav, but of course this won’t be current.

The instruments are working as they should, with the odometer displaying a reading of just ~56,950 miles and no warning lights displayed with the engine running.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel is in good condition with no signs of excessive wear. The buttons are the same, with no signs of heavy use, and the leather gearknob is in good condition with minimal wear.

Mechanics

The 4.3 litre V8 engine is a joy to drive, with 380bhp - it is especially fun when paired with the smooth six-speed manual transmission.

Engine and Gearbox

The 4.3 litre V8 fires up without hesitation and comes to a smooth idle. James has had a remote control fitted, which is connected to the exhaust and alters the tone between quiet and loud. Ideal for an early morning start on quiet mode, then switch to loud to fully experience the sound of the V8.

The six-speed manual gearbox is nice and smooth on every change, and there are no noises from the transmission.

Suspension and Brakes

The car sits nice and level (the ground we photographed the car on was just a bit uneven), and there are no knocks or bangs when out on the road.

New grooved discs were fitted when James got the car, so they have a good amount of miles left before needing to be replaced.

The car comes to a stop in a straight line with no issues.

The Drive

The Vantage V8 is a joy to drive, delivering precisely what Aston Martin intended. The car provides a confident and responsive driving experience, with the steering wheel providing ample feedback to the driver. The manual gearbox is a refreshing change from the typical automatic transmission, and many people agree that it makes the car feel more engaging and enjoyable to drive.

Electrics and Other

The Aston is a well-specced car. It comes with a 700w Premium Audio System, which James has improved with the addition of a Denison Gateway adapter, allowing you to stream Bluetooth audio. This can easily be switched back to standard via a switch in the glovebox. The car also has cruise control, satellite navigation, heated windscreen and power-fold mirrors.

History and Paperwork

With a recent service at Aston Martin Nottingham in July 2023, the Vantage is ready for its new home.

The Vantage comes with the original owner’s manual and service book, which shows a healthy number of service stamps, some of which are backed up with the corresponding invoices, and there are several previous MOT certificates. There are also two keys and fobs present.

The car does have a tracker fitted, which was on before James got the car. He has never activated this but says, “it should just be a case of registering it should you wish”.

Looking at the original sales invoice, the car cost £90,643.93 with all the extras fitted back in 2006, which means this is an awful lot of car for your money and one that shouldn’t be missed.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks, including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a HPi check on the vehicle.

Does the air conditioning work? What are the date codes on the tyres?

Yep the air conditioning works well and blows cold, I had it re-gassed in 2021.

Has it ever had a new clutch fitted?

I don’t have any paperwork indicating that it’s had a new clutch unfortunately. It drives well though and tried to show in the driving video that there’s no clutch slippage, and it pulls well. I was advised to avoid reversing uphill and don’t rest your foot on the clutch pedal to avoid any excessive clutch wear in these though.
