Introduction

Dom Ginn
Professional Consigner

A proper GT that was a revolution not an evolution from Aston Martin.

The DB9 was an instant hit on release and is considered by many to be a modern classic in its own right. It's stunning in every way, hand-finished from top to bottom. The V12 upfront, but the bulk of the weight behind the front axle makes for great handling, and that hand-built power plant pushes out 450BHP.

This example is coming out of 3 years careful ownership. Finished in an attractive colour of Anthracite Grey, with just over 51,000 miles on the clock, lots of miles to enjoy with this one.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Dom after meeting Cory the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I love the car, but it isn't get the use it deserves these days.

Cory likes his cars and driving experiences to come with a touch of luxury, and this Aston Martin DB9 is no stranger to that. Having acquired the car some 3 years ago, he's covered around 7,000 trouble free miles in it.

The time has come to find this example a new home, as Cory just isn't getting the use out of it. As he's spending more time abroad, he feels it's a bit of a waste for the car to sit around unused, and so the car is now up for auction.

Exterior

A sleek and smart design on the DB9, aluminium panels all round with some composite areas too.

Wheels and Tyres

Large 19" 15-spoke Aston Martin alloys really add something to the design of car. Set in the typically pleasing silver, the Aston Martin badge beams proudly in the centre.

Sitting on a full set of Bridgestone Potenza tyres, they are great for all-weather and touring conditions. Take a look at the media to see the detailed condition.

Bodywork

The bodywork looks incredible and will no doubt be a classic in the future. Please review our 'exterior video' and see for yourself, we saw no bumps or dents across this example.

All shut lines look correct, tight and even where they need to be.

Paint

Set in Meteorite Grey, a lovely dynamic colour, the overall condition of the paint is even in finish and colour across the car.

You'll see in the photos, there are some faint scratches by the door handles, other than that the paint really is in excellent condition with barely any stone chips on the front. Take a look at the extensive media to see the condition.

Glass and Trim

All in excellent condition across the car, nothing to report on this front.

Interior

A cabin that gives you that proper luxury GT feel with leather wrapped around key features.

Seats and Carpets

The electrically adjustable seats look to be in very good condition, commensurate with the car’s low mileage, and the carpets look well kept and have recently been cleaned.

All stitching is correct and we saw no signs of any tears across them, please see the photos.

Dashboard

Like most of the car, the dashboard is made using high-quality, beautiful materials.

Dials and gauges are legible with 2 small HUD's placed in the centre of the dash. And who can forget about that ever-so-satisfying starter button?

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The touch paddles are situated behind the steering wheel, both in excellent condition.

Mechanics

Although the ride is sporty and firm, the DB9 can deliver extremely high levels of comfort at lower speeds.

Engine and Gearbox

The 5.9L V12 engine is no stranger to performance and reliability. The DB9 can accelerate from 0 to 97 km/h (60 MPH) in 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 299 km/h (186 mph). Watch the cold start video to see the owner start the car, everything sounds smooth as it bursts to life instantly.

The six-speed ZF semi-automatic gearbox features paddle-operated semi-automatic mode for when you're going for a more spirited run.

Suspension and Brakes

The brakes are large Brembo four-piston callipers in the front and rear set in grey.

The chassis benefits being 25% lighter than its predecessors and the car benefits from a double-wishbone suspension that is extremely stable when accelerating quickly.

The Drive

These cars were built with much care at Gaydon, they provide the driver with the ease of gliding through the roads, putting a smile on your face and forgetting about all those worries you had in the day.

The V12 engine is nothing short of sensational, pushing out 450BHP; calm when needed, but roaring in to life when demanded.

Electrics and Other

Everything on the car works as expected and we are assured by the seller this is still the case after our visit to his property.

The infotainment system is in fully working order, just as expected from a well-cared for example.

History and Paperwork

A well cared for example, having covered just ~51,000 miles from new and 3 former keepers.

This DB9 suffered damage in a car park in January 2017, somebody drove in to the front of the car. Due to the expense of the repairs at the time, the car was declared a Cat D insurance loss (damaged but repairable). The car was however fixed, and Cory bought it later in the year in August 2017.

The car comes with a full set of keys, the leather bound service book, and items like the air compressor for the tyres still present in the boot. It's recently been MOT'd and is ready for the new owner to drive away and enjoy.

We've actioned our usual checks on the seller and car; HPi report, V5 check, ID check.
