Aston Martin cars are a British cultural icon and it’s easy to see why. These cars are legendary, and their quality is clearly evident in their stance, presence and flowing lines. With almost perfect proportions the Vantage is described as 'bold and distinctive with unmistakable presence' which we find hard to disagree with. Offering a 0-60 time within ~4.9 seconds, a top speed of ~175MPH, and ~420BHP from its V8, the Vantage is a car that demands attention and thankfully has handling to easily match its performance. With its short wheelbase, engine mounted behind the front axle and stiffened chassis, these elements combine to produce an agile car which reacts quickly and precisely to steering wheel movements.

Presented in a stunning black finish with beautiful black leather interior, this glorious V8 Vantage is in great condition. It comes to market after ~9 years ownership, having had just 2 former keepers, and has just had a new MOT actioned after the car comes out from storage.

The Aston comes to market having been owned by Katy's late husband Mike, the car has been really well looked after over its history which is apparent from both the condition and service history for the car. Mike bought the car in 2014 with ~76,000 miles on the clock. He had alway wanted a Vantage and saw the high mileage as a great sign, as he believed cars were for driving and not storing away.

Having been stored for the last few years since Mikes passing, the Aston has travelled a limited amount of miles in this time. As the Vantage is no longer in regular use, Katy has decided to offer the car up to market for someone else to enjoy the car as it once was. Exterior

These cars give you a sense of speed and agility even when parked up, the iconic Aston Martin grill paying homage to the lineage.

Wheels and Tyres

The 5 spoke, 19" diamond cut alloy wheels look ok from an initial observation, but getting closer we noticed signs of corrosion on the spokes and around the centre cap on all the wheels. Some paint had also been flaking off of the wheels, we could see a few signs of curbing too, they would benefit from being refurbished to match the positive appearance of the exterior.

Bridgestone Potenza front tyres were fitted all round with a spec of 235/40 at the front, with a date code of 4815 (2015 dated) and a good level of tread. Rears show the same tyre brand with a spec of 275/35 with dates showing 5015 (again 2015 dated). Take a look over the exterior gallery section for a close up view of the wheels and tyres on the Aston.

Bodywork

The car stands straight, panels look great, shut lines appear tight and both doors, boot and bonnet open and close with precision which is exactly what you'd expect from Aston Martin quality. Overall, the car presents nicely. A minor observation was the rear grill section underneath the rear bumper could do with a little reconditioning for better presentation.

Paint

The paintwork shows well across the exterior of the Vantage, the finish and colour is consistent over all the panels. The paint does look a bit dull over the car, with some swirl marks and light scratches noticed across some of the panels, a mop and polish should bring the level of the finish up a notch. We noted a few stone chips on the bonnet but these weren't too much of an issue.

Paint protection film has been added on the rear quarter panels adding an extra level of cover for these sections.

Again, we have taken high resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves. The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

Windscreen, side windows, mirrors and lenses all appear in great condition. We could see no sign of scratching or chips on the glass. The trim and seals are all in place with the iconic Aston badging and chrome trim looking good. A few signs of pitting on the chrome work were noted and could do with bringing up to a higher standard, but wouldn't require much additional effort.

Interior

With an upgraded dash area from its predecessor, the cabin is a lovely place to be, the key slot in the centre console and comfortable leathers, the interior is really well defined.

Seats and Carpets

Interior sections of the Vantage show very well, lovely looking black leathers wrap the seats and comfortably secure the driver and passenger in place. The condition of the seats is good, a few marks were noted but nothing overly concerning given the mileage of the car. The drivers bolster section showed with a few signs of use but with a little reconditioning, would show in a really great way.

Carpet sections of the cabin are in great condition although could benefit from a deeper clean from the next owner, roof lining showed in a great condition with barely a mark noted. The boot area shows very well without any major wear or concern with no observed marks on the carpet sections here.

Dashboard

A "Piano Black" fascia is used to trim the centre console, it looks great. The instruments are all nice and clean showing no signs of fogging or display issues. The odometer reports ~100,823 miles at the time of our visit. Testing the screen section showed this raising and lowering without issue.

Looking over the leather finish on the dash showed the cabin area has been really well looked after over its life and we observed no concern with warping, splitting or damage.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The Vantage is fitted with its original Aston Martin black leather steering wheel with alloy sport paddles giving the driver control over the automatic gearbox. The steering wheel looked in good condition, with only slight wear noticed, as did the paddles. Gear selection is via the button at the top of the centre console. The wheel also houses the media function buttons and call options.

Mechanics

The 4.7L V8 in these cars produce an intoxicating sound when pushed, very capable units that have helped with the popularity of the model.

Engine and Gearbox

The V8 comes to life and sounds fantastic, it started first time with no issues or untoward noises noticed. Looking over the engine bay we noted the mechanical sections could do with a little detailing although given these sections are rarely seen it wasn't a major issue. The torsion bar strut over the engine adds additional strength to the structure of the Aston.

Head over to the 'Mechanical Review' video for an overview of the engine, here you can see the car start up from cold which turns over and idles without concern. Katy has had a fresh MOT actioned on the car, so the new owner will be able to drive away on collection day.

Suspension and Brakes

The brakes showed some surface rust, most likely due to the car not moving for a while. Given that the car has been garaged over the past few years and has had very little use we didn't see this as an aspect that was overly concerning.

Katy reports the brakes were working well when the car was in regular use and as you would expect given the quality of the car. Please view the mechanical review video and photographs to see close-up images from around the Aston.

The Drive

This car is built for the ultimate driving experience. Smooth, quiet and comfortable when cruising, and exciting when you put the pedal to the metal. It is designed to be driven everyday if the owner is so inclined to do so.

Given the car had no current MOT at time of visit due to it not being used, we were unable to take it on a test drive on the open public roads. Katy, the current owner, has let us know that a new MOT has been carried out since our visit with only a few advisories, the details of the new MOT can be seen below.

Electrics and Other

On our visit we tested all of the electronics in the cabin area which worked without concern. The clock, air con, pop up screen, electric memory seats and displays were all functioning well. The boot area contains the tyre pump secured inside a side panel. A lovely little feature is the original Aston pen which is inset into the base of the dash area interface.

The glovebox and centre console operated without issue, housing the emergency card and Aston quick guide.

The dash displayed that a vehicle service was overdue but given the car has barely been used over the past 2 years wasn't an issue. Katy reports that all electrical elements are fully working to her knowledge.

History and Paperwork

Coming from ~9 years current ownership, the V8 Vantage has been garaged for the last ~2 years since the passing of the owner, it comes to market with a decent service history.

The Aston comes with a great amount of service history and just 2 owners over its history having been owned for the last ~9 years by the current owners. The car has had an MOT carried out since our visit which it has passed, so the new owner will be able to drive away on collection day. The last servicing was carried out on the Aston in September 2020 and covered an oil and brake fluid change, oil, pollen and air filter change, mechanical functionality check, fluid, filter and leak checks. Also covered during the servicing were the electrical functions and a wheel and tyre check. Katy’s late husband Mike covered almost ~30,000 miles in the ~9 years of ownership. Thanks Katy, I am trying to arrange a viewing of the car (this Saturday?) . Can you tell me if you have driven the car since the MOT? I note on the last service by Bamford Rose in 2020 they noted that it needed new discs and pads all round together with other issues. Just wondered if it stops and drives OK?

Hi Robert, Thanks for your message – you’re right it was a loved car and brought a lot of pleasure 🙂 It’s hasn’t been driven for a couple of years and is registered as SORN at the moment. I did take it for a little drive around just before the MOT to make sure everything was working properly, especially the brake. It was all smooth. It stops fine and there aren’t any issues that I’m aware of. As it’s SORN I haven’t driven it since the MOT. I thought it would be best if it was re-registered in the name… Read more »
