Introduction

Darren Rungasamy
Automotive Editor, Photographer and Consigner

The Vantage truly feels special and makes you feel the same whilst driving, Aston back to its best.

The Aston Martin V8 Vantage is one of those modern supercars that retains a pure analogue feel, offering a driving purity with a healthy balance of technology. The Roadster version of the V8 Vantage was originally launched in 2006, the hand-built open-top grand tourer leaned on its agility and compact dimensions to help place the V8 Vantage as the most accessible Aston Martin, but its true talent lies in its performance, road manners and objectively one of the most cohesive and elegant designs of its era.

An in model change in 2008 included deep mechanical and visual upgrades, which included a larger ~420BHP 4.7L engine. The roadster features swan wing doors, a leather and Alcantara interior, a zinc alloy centre console and a crystal-capped key fob. The Vantage evolved to include several editions in subsequent years, however, the use of shared parts with its then parent company goes someway into keeping the cost of the Roadster’s ownership lower than those later versions, and indeed most of its competitors.

Fitted with an upgraded Sportshift clutch, this 2011 Roadster is finished in "Onyx Black" with a cream leather interior. It has just ~51,892 miles and comes with evidence of regular servicing. It has seen almost ~£14K’s worth of work over the last ~5 years, has an MOT to March 2025 and comes with three keys.

This listing was written from information supplied by Darren after meeting Peter the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Exterior

The timeless styling of the V8 Vantage still impresses today.

Wheels and Tyres

The 19” 5 spoke alloy wheels are options that came with the facelift model, they have mild rim scuffs and some typical lacquer damage, but otherwise are in good shape.

The tyres are all Michelin Pilot Sports and dated from 2019, displaying even tread. View the pictures to see the detail.

Bodywork

The bodywork is free of damage, and the panel show a flush fit. The shut lines are precise and all of the doors open and close with ease. The window drop operation of both passenger doors work as expected. The extruded aluminium chassis appears to be in good shape. The rear subframe is in excellent condition having been recently shot blasted, zinc plated and powder coated by independent Aston Martin specialist Bamford Rose.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our high-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The "Onyx Black" paint finish has a deep consistent lustre and an even hue with no swirling noticed. The nose is lightly peppered with minor stone chips. We also spotted a few marks on the nearside wheel arch and a light scuff on the offside corner of the rear bumper and wing too.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass is free of significant marks, with decent seals. The headlamp covers show mild signs of age and the offside lens retains a little condensation. Peter also pointed out that the nearside tail lamp suffers from the same issue. The car is fitted with clear rear lamps.

The trim is in good shape, with just a little paint tarnishing noted on the door handles. The hood operation was demonstrated to work perfectly, with no clunks or strains to the motors. The hood itself is in good shape, with no significant marks, although there are mild signs of outdoor elements noted. The rear glass was rebonded by Cayman in 2023.

Interior

The use of high-quality materials has meant the cabin has retained much of its allure and truly special feeling.

Seats and Carpets

The seats are in good shape, with just age-related creases and wear on the driver seat bolster. The passenger seat slider is jammed but other functions such as tilt work.

No issues were noted on the carpets, with the boot item looking clean and free of heavy use.

Dashboard

The dashboard presents well, with tidy switch gear, dials and binnacle. All of the functions including the air conditioning work and the leather and stitching are all in good shape.

There are hairline fractures on the satnav lid and the top of the centre console and minor signs of age on the centre facia surface, but overall above the expectation of a car of this age. The door cards, centre console and rear trim are all in good shape.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The multifunction steering wheel is clean with no damage noted.

The car has paddle shifts behind the steering wheel which are in good condition, and automatic gear selection buttons on the centre console.

Mechanics

Its mid-range performance and sure-footed grip are as impressive as is its mechanical durability.

Engine and Gearbox

The 4.7-litre V8 fires up without issue, and the dashboard warning lights remain off once the engine is started. The engine idles smoothly with no undulations and we didn’t notice any unwanted exhaust smoke, the car is leak-free too. The engine presentation is good, with mild signs of age noted in some areas, but the engine bears evidence of positive maintenance, with good hoses and ancillaries.

When Peter first bought the car he was unhappy with the Sportshift gear changes, so following advice from Bamford Rose, he requested the upgrade of the clutch in 2019 to a single plate clutch option from the V12, allowing a slicker shift. The car still suffers a small amount of clutch judder when moving from rest but this is considered a typical trait. Further investigation to resolve a software issue involving selecting reverse gear from standing was resolved by Bamford Rose. On the move, the car selects ratios smoothly without delay.

Suspension and Brakes

The car's suspension system is typically firm, but new rear wishbones and dampers installed recently are what's responsible for the absence of rattles. On the smooth roads, the car rides seamlessly and with precision.

The car's slotted Brembo brakes were demonstrated to function exactly as you’d hope, with no outstanding flaws, pulling or unwanted noises. The rear pads have been replaced recently.

The Drive

While considered the baby of the Aston Martin range, the compact nature of the V8 Vantage certainly acts in the car's favour. The car's agile handling perfectly complements the ride quality; when we got closer to the national speed limit, it remained planted. The charismatic V8 engine was smooth and flexible, pulling well from all speeds.

The car was remarkably free from any mechanical rattles, with no evidence of significant scuttle shake or creaks. At cruising speed, it drove smoothly, with no unwanted noises from the suspension. Peter is happy with its reliability, with no reports of oil pressure or engine temperature issues.

Electrics and Other

The car is fitted with Bluetooth and the Satnav is operational.

Its parking sensors are not currently plugged in, Peter tells us they were functional, and were disconnected by recommendation of Bamford Rose due to an intermittent audio warning. Another point of note is that one of the dipped beams is not working in the headlights.

History and Paperwork

Coming to market from ~5 year ownership, just 2 former keepers, specialist Bamford Rose has kept the car in its best possible health, with almost ~£14K worth of work carried out.

First registered by Stratstone Cardiff in March 2011, it comes with 10 services - a mix of main dealer and specialist stamps. Recent work carried out on the car includes a clutch upgrade, rear subframe overhaul, exhaust, sensors, suspension and brake work. Further work on the hood was carried out in 2023.

Its most recent service was around 100 miles ago and it comes with an MOT to March 2025 and will be sold with three keys, including its original crystal fob.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned an HPI check on the vehicle.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa.
